I use Rope Caulk on all my horns and I think they sound much better.

I could pick up a few of these and just wondered if they would work. They sit on the floor and point up. I guess they could be put on stands.

OK I found it. Any other suggestions?

I have the Toshiba 3950 and 3960 and I feel they work quite well for the money I spent for them. Is there a newer unit out now that will rival these for around the same money or a little more? Thanks

Well, once again after being gone for a year you are still up to your fantastic work! I have done a fair amount of veneer work myself but noting like experience too bad we don't live closer. Well done, Mate

Thanks all for the compliments. Yes that is the placement unless I extend my wall. I really wanted to but the WAF factor is a major NO. It really doesn't seem to make much difference in the bass department. I have them on the long wall. Very punchy and tight.

The Dynaco 410 is a SS amp the Mark III are still running through the ALK's. I do hear a pop when the amp is turned off but I also heard this when the ALK's handled it all from the tube Mark III's. I don't know why, I turn on and off in the right order?

You are correct it is putting out 200 watts. Ok then last question what is the draw back that I am mising here vs. Alk crosovers?

I took a leap of faith and I am running it that way now. Sounds good. Am I correct to assume from what I read that the khorn bass bin is run full range? If so then the woofer will roll off on its own right. The only concern would be clipping and how would I know? Thanks

I read the post below and I am more confused than before. Can I run the woofer full range off the Dynaco 410 SS amp that I have and then use use the ALK crossovers and the Mark III's for the mids and highs ? Some said that the bass bin is run full range so I was wondering if this would work. I need a step by step guide if this can be done. Here is what Colin said he did: Like the Cornwall, the 15” woofer in the Khorn bass bin is run full range. The crossover limits the signal to the mid and high range horns. I am not really bi-amping, more like passive dual-amping. Against advice, I disconnected the top crossover network from the bottom cable connection plate on the bass bin and connected the two amplifiers to the two sets of outputs on my pre-amplifier. This is what I would like to try. Thanks

Maybe they are speaker lab horns which are Khorn replicas. I am not sure. Wht not post a few pictures?

I am running ALK crossovers. I guess the question is will the altec drivers sound better than the Alnico Klipsch drivers? Is it worth the repair costs? Last, would I still run them 3 way? So far I like the sound mcuh better than the k55 not so harsh much smoother. Thanks

I am just using the horn with the Alnico driver for the moment. Thanks for the opinion though. Anywhere I can read up on the mod you are describing?

The sound seemed much smoother without the harsh edge. I have the 802 drivers ( At least I think they are ) that go with the 511s but they need serviced. Is the crossover point the same on the Altec 802 as the stock Alnicos? If I did have Great Plains repair the 802s what should I expect in sound difference? Thanks

Al Klappenberger has great crossovers and extreme slope look him up.

It looks like I passed. He will not work a deal for the 2. I don't need them I just think they look neat. I really need a good pre amp.

Can't you run it ( Line Level ) speaker lines from the pre amp or receiver to the sub. Use the sub active crossover and then run speaker lines to each spaeker from the sub speaker outputs?
