  1. I ran into a similar problem with the pair of Mahogany Khorns I just veneered. I had two different color veneers sent to me. I had one speaker done before I noticed the difference. Trying to match the two was a huge pain.
  2. Thanks DR WHO that is what I was saying but I also did not want to go down that road. Better he read and decide for himself.
  3. If you do a search on the site you will find way more information than you probably would ever want on this subject. I am not sure if using the bi-wire option really bypasses the crossover in the RF3. If I am wrong others will correct me.
  4. George, I never realized the shape those were in. WOW, they would take a lot of work to get to the point of veneer. I hope you can at least break even on your purchase.
  5. George please make a post and compare the Altec 19 to the Klipschorn Brett
  6. I currently own both. They both do differnt things well. I have to say that if I put the amount of money into the Altecs that I have into the Klipschorn I think the Altec would out perform. The only real change to the 19 that seems to help is a super tweeter and an active crossover. Anyway, both are keepers.
  7. I spoke with Ralph on Friday and his material has still not come in. Ralph has been great for all my projects and I am too waiting. He did tell me however that very soon he will no longer sell to forum members. He said its more hassle than its worth and some forum members have been riding him because of the long wait. I don't think Ralph makes the fabric he is just a distributor for it. He can be tough to get a hold of but I don't think he is going to retire on our fabric sales.
  8. I feel that soldering direct is always the best way to go. It gets hard though with heavy gauge wires. This could be a good place for the silver type since brightness is not associated with woofers.
  9. I have a whole roll if you need some.
  10. Thats a shame because I ripped them off. Literally 1,000s of staples. I would have swaped you for black[:'(]
  11. Sure anytime. Its not really that difficult just time consuming. Here is a picture of a Teak pair I did 2 yrs ago
  12. Contact cement method. I bought the veneer at Tape ease.
  13. I now have the top section complete with ribbon striped Mahogany here are two pictures
  14. This is my second veneer project but I started with a pair of birch Khorns painted white with Salt N pepper Grills Similar to this but without black grills
  15. You couldn't be more correct. I had trouble driving my pair with a 150 watt Marantz at high levels without the clipping lights comming on. I never could understand it the SPL level is high but when heavy bass was needed they would drain an amp flat.
  16. Now claims that everyone is lying where will this thread go next? "The suspense is killing me, I hope it lasts" - Willy Wonka
  17. sorry 16 post x 3 lies per = 48 lies. I always liked the saying "YOU LIE LIKE A WET RUG"
  18. So, what up with all the lies? 27 posts and about 27 lies? Probably more seeing 3 lies per post. That's a lot of lying
  19. I try to treat people the way I like to be treated and I have had both Ryan and Craig do work for me. They both did a fine job. I have had many discussions with both and if I had a problem I resolved it with them ( alone ). I dont think a public forum is where you pull out the dirty laundry. If you have a problem go to the individual 1st. You all may not agree, but my expressions are based on the priciples I live by. I hate to seeing anyone get raked over the coals without the chance to defend. Regardless of who it is.
  20. I may have missed the explanation, but why did he do this for free? Good Question, I guess he did it so 33KLFan could throw him under the tire of an oncomming BUS.[:S]
