  1. I was wondering if someone could tell me if the Onkyo 805 is enough to power the speakers in my sig below. The Onkyo 805 has 130 watts per channel, I've read in reviews that is a conservative power rating for this 51lb monster. What I had powering them before was an Onkyo 705 with 100/wpc. Basically, I wanna know if this receiver will make these come alive. I don't have the receiver yet.

  2. IMO, the RF-3 isn't near the quality as the RF-7. It would be best if you could get an RF-7, RC-7 or maybe an RF-5.

Not so sure I agree with this. I've heard the RF-7's a few times, and while they do sound the best in the Reference series, the difference really is not as big as some make it out to be. (I do own the RF-3 towers, matching center and surrounds)

  3. Thanks for all awesome responses fellas! :) I honestly am so impressed I couldn't foresee ever upgrading. I will however, be buying a brand new RF-82 system for my father in law, just to help support Klipsch. :) My father in law has an all Linn speaker system that cost him $1400 PER SPEAKER. I hooked up my new Klipsch Reference system to his gear and he was visibly sad and in awe. We couldn't find any advantage to the Linn speakers. We used all the same gear, same speaker placement, ect. He said he was absolutely speechless at the Klipsch quality. :D That made me feel pretty awesome about my purchase.

  4. My GOD, I am simply blown away by these speakers. I used to have the Klipsch RSX-5 system (Cinema 10)

The system I got is the following:

    Klipsch RF-3 ii for mains

    Klipsch RC-3 ii center channel

    And Klipsch RS-3 ii surrounds

    Dual Klipsch RW-12d subwoofers.

What amazes me, is I only ended up paying $190 for the actual speakers, and $500 for both subs.

  5. RW 12d is a Great budget sub at the $300 price point . . . Best you can get for $300 IMHO . . RT 10d better for music than the RW 12d, of course. But chrap for some movie thimp, the $300 RW 12d works better than any other NEW $300 sub I know of, with the remote feature too. Spend more if you want to go lower then 24hz.

Agreed 100%. However, I have compared the RW-12d to a few Internet direct subs, it easily held its own. I also own the bic pl-200, fantastic sub as well, the two best subs in their price range. I will say, the RW-12d certainly goes much lower than the specs, mine goes down to about 16hz in room usable response. I do have it running with the bic pl-200, so I'm sure that helps. I was able to get 19hz with authority with just the klipsch though.

  6. I had a sub-12 a real room shaker for movies, not terribly accurate but I loved it.

Decided to switch to the RW-12, because it is directional instead of down-firing.

The RW is far more accurate IMHO, but not a room shaker for movies.

The reason I say it is more accurate, is listening to Alison Krause Live Blue Ray Concert, you can clearly hear every pluck of the bass, sounds real to me.

Depends on the application, if I get a bigger place I may add a down-firing sub and turn it on for movies behind the sofa.

    Hope this helps

This is confusing to me, I own the RW-12d and have heard the sub-12 before, the RW-12d is superior in every respect, including its room shaking abilities. It can tear paint off the walls with ease.

  7. Three well placed Klipsch rw12d's (when on sale) are about the best you can find for under $1000. I have one of these paired with a BIC pl-200' and it's out of this world!! I hit 17hz pretty easily.

I dunno...The RW-12D is only rated down to 24 Hz.

It definitely hits lower than that.

  8. I really wanted a RSW-15 but my patience finally wore out. I have some time to mess with it today. I think the most embarrassing thing is that my "home theater" room is only 12x16 and it is also my living room. This thing is huge!

For some reason this new sub has really got me to open the wallet this month. Ordered a Oppo BDP-103 and a Emotive XPA-3. Now I have been looking for RF-63's and RC-64. I really don't know why because ai LOVE my R-3 system. I will probably hold out for a good local deal if the ever pop up. Nobody I know understands my sickness..

I understand your sickness my friend!! I really really do...
