I know you said it's in a corner already, but if it isn't already, put it in a corner that's closest to the listening position. You can also add polyfill inside the enclosure. If you stuff it, just make sure not to block the back of the drivers, cover the amp, or block the port. Doing this will make it like the woofers are in a slightly larger enclosure, and it should give a tiny bit more low end extension. The difference will not be huge, but it should be noticeable. You can buy a 20oz(way more than enough) bag at Walmart for $2. Since you said you didn't want to spend any money, you can find the same stuff inside pillows or comforters. If you have some old ones that aren't being used, tear them open and have at it. ---------------- ok i'll try the polyfill but please explane to me like im retarded what parts of the enclosure not to cover....

Klipsch is not a consideration as I have heard the subs in my price range are not all that good. Looking for some advice on easily available subs. Thanks ---------------- your kidding right????

Big WAF factor here (I am the wife)....please do not suggest SVS or HSU. Choices include Paradigm, Velodyne, Mirage, and B&W. I am so lost and have been listening, but feel the stores ideal setup cannot compare to the real home environment. Any input is appreciated. Thanks!! Probably 90% music (any other than RAP) and 10% HT. ---------------- get the 12" velodyne sub its AWESOME i know from hearing it.... its $499 at circuit city check it out here http://www.circuitcity.com/detail.jsp?c=1&b=g&catoid=-8023&qp=0&bookmark=bookmark_3&oid=37965

My spl meter is going home with me today and I'll be measuring the Rsw 15's sub 30hz performance using Avia. I FULLY appreciate my Rsw 15, I am just curious about what I might be missing below 30 hz is all, and I really don't think that I am missing that much. We all catch the upgrade bug regardless of what we own at sometime or another. Fortunately, I was able to cure mine before I did anything I'd regret. Thanks for all the great advice. ---------------- whats a "Avia"???
  9. i know i posted this thread in 2 different sections but i would rather people respond to this one....

I have this little nag in the back of my head wondering what I am missing in the lower frequencies. Above 30hz, I think it is arguably one of the best subwoofers available and I LOVE it for that. As we all know though, it's output drops off dramatically below that. I am thinking of upgrading, but I don't want to at the sake of quality. I'm looking at either the Velodyne HGS18 or the Martin Logan Descent. These subs would give me the added punch I think I am missing below 30hz while still providing musicality and that is what I think I am missing with the Klipsch. I don't want to go SVS because I think I will be sacrificing music and the cylinder design probably won't get past the wife either. Any opinions eitherway would be greatly appreciated. I just don't want to get rid of my Rsw 15 only to regret parting with it, because other than my being curious as to what I may be missing below 30hz it is a fantastic subwoofer. I can't imagine that I have been missing a lot, but I don't think I'll be happy until I know for sure. I love this hobby. ---------------- dude you'd be "downgrading" (imho) that sub can go all the way down to 19hz how could you ask for more then that??? its a $1800 sub for crap sakes... (geez unappreciative people)....

  19. and how does it sound??? would it add much bass to my klipsh pro media 5.1's???
  20. you guys are all wrong my klipsh pro media 5.1's with the audigy 2 do shake the floor what are you guys talking about "its no sunfire or svs"??? whats that all about how could you ask for more then a klipsh pro media 5.1 with an audigy 2 and an SWS sub??? talk about unappreciative...
