  1. I noticed Mitsubishi components are used in the Denon so I assume they must be doing something right. Have you compared the Mitsubishi to a higher end model?
  2. On that sub, I have owned the Velodyne CHT15 and can assure you a smile on your face with it. It could sound a whole lot cleaner, but you would be suprised by the performance for the dollar. Plays very loud and does VERY good for HT for the money. Anything smaller just sounds fake IMO. I have used other elite 12" subs and found the db area lacking. Can find them used all day for 3-5 bills on ebay and audiogon. Brandon
  3. Hopefully someone is on to help. I guess everyones options are that the Denon 2900 and up are the best player for the money. I am looking to nab something today to hold me over for a year or so. Wondering on other brands that will have pleasing two channel sound as well as great surround formats. I only need 5.1 right now, but would like to have SACD if possible. I think the old Panasonic is killing the sound on my refernce 7 setup. Anxious to try a real player. Remember sound is key right now. I don't have much but a 27" flat right. I will buy the big guns in a year or so. Thanks and you guys are great help since most own Klipsh and know they can get bright and crappy if not fed properly. Brandon
  4. Dean, I sent a few emails about your RF7 crossovers, hoping you received them. Please drop a line at your earliest convenience. Thanks Brandon
  5. I am finding this amp hard to find. I have seen them new for around the 1400.00 mark, but really would like to save a bit and go used. I have decided on this amp for the RF7s as an economical route and because i will USE them and want the extra power on hand. I have heard good and bad, but I will have to hear with my own ears I guess. Unless someone knows of another amp that can compete in the price range. All better amps I have seen are 2-4x the money. I will need to upgrade other components so not in the budget right now. Leads for this amp will be appreciated. Brandon
  6. Also would like to know what line of digital amps to look at for reasonable prices. Will I hear the big difference with the 7s? Thanks again
  7. Just bought the 7s, still have my KG4s. Rather unhappy with the 7s so far with db levels and sound quality. Only running with a Denon 2803 at 90wpc. I think they need some HP to sound good so I am looking for a good used amp. Sooo many out there. Like to stay SS, but may go tube if price is within budget. Looking to stay with something popular like Rotel, Aragon, but open to anything. I want at least 200wpc. I know the 7s are picky on power. Also concerned my cheap dvd player is hurting me. Looking for help with the cd/dvd player if one can really do both well. Have heard Denon has a good one. Price ideas will help too. Thanks
  8. I am looking to go to separates with the rf7s and heavily considering aragon mono blocks for 2ch. I would like to use my denon receiver for HT amping and prepro and switch to separate amps for 2ch. is this advisable? Have not really explored all options yet. Any help with rf7 amps would help.
  9. I am looking for any SS recommendations for amp/preamp. Also wondering if high quality reciever will be as good. ALso wondering if an external dac would be needed for cd listening if a quality cd unit is bought. Do I really want separate dvd and cd components for great sound. I am very picky on sound quality and listen very loud at times. I run a denon 2803 receiver now and am not impressed in 2ch. Will use rfs in 2ch and surround with other klipsches. Looking for great matches for klipsch guns. Also any other details that might help, would be appreciated. I enjoy very clear highs without an extreme attack and killer bass as well as unplugged acoustical recordings. Thanks Brandon
  10. Hey, the best way to tell if those 8s are toast is to use your finger tips and apply equal pressure around the circumfrence of the moving part of the driver. Move it in about a half inch or so and release. If the speaker stays in the depressed position or if when moving the speaker in and out it feel even a little rough, it it blown. What has happened is your motor coils in the speaker have melted together and is dragging on the magnet. If you pull the driver and want to double check, use a multi meter across the pos and neg leads on the speaker with your meter on ohms. If the reading is infinite or has over 1k ohms or if it reads the opposite and reads full continuity or 0 ohms then your speaker is bad. The driver should be around 20 ohms. Im not sure how they are wired, but if it is between 8 and 50 ohms it is good. On the tweeter you can do the same meter test only bump the ohms up for tolerance and you cannot push on the driver. The klipsch horns come apart easy so you can inspect the diaphram or just put your ear to it, but it sounds like a driver or a polarity ( + & - swap) problem at amp or speaker. Brandon
  11. I currently have some kg4's with a velodyne cht15 sub. I am running them with a cheap kenwood dts reciever that I will be giving the boot shortly. My questions are that my system lacks clarity and mid bass punch. I did plug one of the kg4s in a system run by a 3803 denon and sounded cleaner (which I expected), but still did not have punch. I think the sub may need to go to as it is ported I prefer sealed tight sound. I have really looked hard at the rf-3, but concered that I will have the same problem in blending the 8in woofer speakers with a 15in sub for music 80% of the time. My others include an rc-3, and rs-3 so the rf-3 would be the likely choice, but I need good tight mid range, accurate sound and loud. That si why I am thinking the 10in woofered towers may solve the problem. I listen to a lot of counrty and clean music and I have played guitar for years so me ear hears quality first. Any recommendations on sub replacement, tower choice, receiver choice (I am looking at denon for the 5ch stereo mode)would be appreciated. Thanks
  12. Hi, just wondering if you still have your klf-10s for sale and where you are at. Thanks. Brandon
