  1. I would not mind trying out the front effects channels on my receiver but dont really want to spend $300 for some speakers if they are not going to make a decent difference, furthermore two more speaker are really going to clutter things up. Are any of you guys running the front effects channels and is it worth it? I suppose your room size would make a big difference as to wether or not these extra channels would work and my room is small but still I want to hear from you guys who are using these extra channels.

If warranty means something to you then dont be a tightwad and support your local economy at the same time by purchasing new.

  4. About the only thing that I know about compression drivers is that they usually have a wider frequency response, are much more sensitive and handle alot more power than your regular run of the mill tweeter.
  5. Thanks for the pics Bob! Wow that compression driver is a monster! Now to be honest I only assumed the driver on the RF-35 was the same as some of the inwall speakers Klipsch sells. Do you happen to have any driver pics from the RF-3 or RF35 or so? thanks again!
  6. Anyone have a picture of the RC-7 , RF-7 , RB-75 compression driver...I was just curious what it looked like. I have seen the RF-35s driver and its a tiny guy. I was wondering if the larger 1.75" driver looked anything like some of JBLs huge compression drivers. I'd also like to see what the woofers look like. Thanks

  8. Not to be nosey but why do you want a single KLF30? Just curious
  9. I lowered the screen today and raised the projector today, I was worried that the rear sofa view would be blocked but it actually not bad. http://mywebpages.comcast.net/bentvalve/misc.htm
  10. Welcome aboard. I'm on the internet hours and hours a day, and the Klipsch forum is one of the coolest online communities out there. Post some pics of your room! >>>>>>>>.. Thanks for the welcome all, here are some pics of my room, I still need the center channel and I am still doing a few things to the room. http://mywebpages.comcast.net/bentvalve/misc.htm
  11. I wonder if I am compromising anything by using 16 gauge wire for my 20ft runs with my RF-3IIs?
  12. Most amps are overrated , you were probably well past its output ability if your Denon was at -2db. Clipped it a few times and cooked the voice coil. I got bad news for you, you have probably cooked all of the drivers in your speakers abit...not that it will effect their performance much but their life span has been recuded. Excessive heat to the VC is not good, clipping a 400watt amp sends a great deal of heat to your speakers.
  13. To be honest if I could find another speaker to fit my needs (PC speakers) I would of canceled the order by now. Open to suggestions and don't say ProMedia Ultras or I'll puke. >>>>>>>>>>>>. The JBL S26 speakers make excellent PC speakers, they are excellent for nearfield duty IMO and their shielding is good enought o place them right up against my $800 Sony monitor. $166 direct from the manufacurer for a pair.... http://www.harmanaudio.com/search_browse/default.asp?sp=S&brand=JBL&market=HOM
  14. Oh no! I do not think the Synergy's sound better at all! What I am saying is that I could base the upgrade from the Synergy to Reference without even hearing them!
  15. Wow, I dont care how they Synergy sounds, IMO they dont look nearly as good as my RF-3IIs and RB-25s. Heck the RB-25s list for $399 at the Good Guys and the SB-2s are $349 at Best Buy....for only $50 more you can get a much nicer looking speaker with a way better grill, front ported, wall mount hardware already installed and better components. Furthermore Good Guys will bargain some, Best Buy will not. I got my RB-25s for 10% off or $360 , the SB-2s are $349 and thats that because Best Buy does not bargain. IMO Klipsch has made a marketing error....especially because I happen to know one little tidbit about Good Guys and Best Buy......both of their Credit Cards are done thru HRS USA, the odds are that if a person was approved for a Best Buy card then he will be approved for a Good Guys card...both have very good financing up to 24 months. Oh well, time will tell.
  16. I have been into stereo equipment for at least 20 years and I into the HT thing about 6 years ago. I have bought and sold ALOT of speakers and electronics and taken a pretty good loss every time, but its been a fun ride. I have tried $100+ interconnects and speaker cables , high end source components and all kinds stuff. I have owned speakers from JBL, Paradigm, PSB, and a few others including ones I have built myself. For some reason Klipsch speakers did not do it for me for a long time, but as I get older my hearing has changed and so have my tastes. Klipsh speakers sound better than anything else does to me right now. I bought everything from the Good Guys so I dont have to worry about having any warranty issues, here is what I went with and why....... RF-3IIs for the mains because they were priced right and sounded incredible, I just love the crisp mids and highs they put out. RB-25s for the rear surrounds because they are front ported and are very wall mount friendly, they extend down to 49hz and against the wall they will go even lower, they are sensitive and really a perfect surround speaker for those of us that prefer need a direct radiating bookshelf for the rear. The RB-3s are simply not suited nearly as well for surround use. For center duty I will get either an RC-3 or RC-35....they were out of RC-35s and have been out of RC-3s for a long time. Most likely I will go with an RC-35 because it extends deeper because it is ported. Subwoofer duty is yet to be decided but I dont need much more than that last lower octave and a little supplement up high. Probably a nice high powered sealed sub is what I will go with since I dont want to have to deal with trying to place a vented unit that is tuned too high. All these are powered by my Yamaha RX-V3300 in my small dedicated HT room. For video I use an Infocus X1 projecting onto a 6' wide 16:9 screen. Since I have owned so many other electronics and speakers I am very content with my new Klipsch speakers...I wont have to wonder if the grass is greener on the other side anymore because I have already been there and done that for the most part.
  17. Thanks Bob. Guys, I called Klipsch and got the prices...they are spendy little buggers. The Cinema 8 and 10 package save you like $5 or something like that but right now you can get the free extra speaker so that makes the Cinema 8 and 10 a better deal. Pricing is as follows: $199 ea for the RSX-5 sat (although the Good Guys I went to is asking $299 each for these. , They had just gotten them in so I am sure its just a little pricing error that will work itself out. In fact they had installed them only a day or so before.) $149 ea for the RSX-4 sat $249 ea for the RCX-4 center I drove 100 miles to another Good Guys to hear these, I was very impressed but not impressed enough to spend that kind of money on a sat speaker. I walked out with some RF-3IIs and some RB-25s for a price that I could not resist. Yeah I was just preaching about small speakers.
  18. After looking over the specs of the RC-35 vs the RC-3II and comparing them in relation to the RF-35 and RF-3IIs I am pretty sure the sonics would be similar , in fact the RF-35 might even be a better channel for the RF-3IIs because it extends abit deeper because its ported and is a 2.5 way design , the tweeters are both 1" titanium domes and the horns are the same. Maybe the tweeters are not exactly the same but I highly doubt they differ much. I think I would rather have an RC-35 but I will take whichever one comes my way first.
  19. Was it pretty easy to blow? What happened? I would like to know what Klipsch's policy is as well. I noticed the RF-3s have a lower tweeter crossover point than pretty much every floorstander they make @ 1975Hz which meants the tweeter on this model has quite a demand on it.....it also means it probably sounds better than the newer RF-35s which also use 8" midbasses but is cross much higher at 2600Hz.
  20. I see you are using RF-5s with an RC-35 , I would imagine that combo would be more mismatched than some RF-3IIs and an RC-35....how do they sound, do you get nice and smooth left to right panning? thanks
  21. Title says it all, Thanks in advance! .. Does the older RF-3 II match sonically with the RC-35 center and/or RB-25 bookshelfs?
  22. I have been in this hobby a long time and have come full circle. I bought and sold so many speakers and electronics and lost a great deal of money on the turn that is not even funny........however at least I have emerged with alot of experience and in my experience small speakers work best in about any room that is under 15'x15' .... I am not saying large speakers wont work but small speakers work better. The key is a sub sat system that blends well with the subwoofer and then subwoofer placement.
  23. Title says it all, I cannot find these anywhere locally, the only Klipsch dealer near me is Good Guys. I want to hear the Cinema 10s bad!

  25. Thanks, am I missing something here? Will the Good Guys bargain that much because the RF7s are $1099 ea and the RC7 is $799 that is $3000 + tx and does not even leave enough for a receiver or anything else.
