  2. Can you provide a link to that thread please? ---------------- On 11/24/2003 8:59:50 PM fini wrote: WOW! This thread is almost getting as hot as the DC Sniper thread down in the General Forum! Better check that one out before it's erased, and I'm banned! I love/hate those knobs!! fini ----------------
  3. Perhaps a pair of La Scala. Other than that I have enough. ---------------- On 11/24/2003 9:34:22 PM mark1101 wrote: Piranha, Oh well, in the heat of the bidding battle stranger things have happened. How many more pairs will you need anyhow? ----------------
  4. I feel terrible. You see, before I was a member of the Klipsch Forum, I outbid smilin several times on Cornwalls and Heresys. My apologies. It will never happen again. GO SMILIN!!!!
  5. Are these the BEST of the HH Scott line? Do they niticeably blow the 272, 296 and 299 series amps away? I hope so for the price! ---------------- On 11/23/2003 2:06:13 AM Guy Landau wrote: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3060690257&category=3284 I already own a pair (actually 3). Here's your chance. ----------------
  6. I appreciate the great info. ---------------- On 11/23/2003 1:23:13 PM bkrop wrote: ---------------- On 11/23/2003 1:35:32 AM tombjr wrote: Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the manual for this amp? ---------------- Go to www.hhscott.com, click input connections then click instabase. Type in 299-D in the model box and you can download the manual from there. Also somewhere on the site is a link to someone in Canada that makes cabinents. Have fun! ----------------
  7. I'd like to get a cabinet for mine. Please let me know if you happen to see one or know of one that's available.
  8. I would have to agree. VanHalen 1 and Fair Warning are two of the all time greatest albums ever for sure. But then again, I am biased since I grew up in Pasadena, CA. I had the fortunate opportunity to see Mammoth (name prior to VH) and Vanhalen at local back yard parties, "The Rainbow", Pasadena Civic Auditorium etc. many, many times before they cut VH1. When I was in boot camp for the USAF in March of 1978 I told all my buddies about Vanhalen. They were like, "who?". By the time we left San Antonio I had half of Lackland AFB hooked on Vanhalen. Including my training instructor (TI). The word spread from there as it did worldwide. ---------------- On 11/23/2003 10:44:21 AM JCturboT wrote: Dean, Good list of bands there. Synthfreek-Yngwie Malmsteen is an amazing guitarist,I have most of his stuff both new and old and really like his style. Back to the subject at hand- My vote for most impressive debut lp would have to be Van Halen 1 (VH S/T). Just an amazing album through and through.I was 11 years old when I got this album and nothing has shaped the way I look at new bands more than VH,they are my measuring stick. Although my favorite VH album is Fair Warning anything from the original lineup is worth a listen.I like Sammy Hagar but not enough hard stuff and too many sappy love songs for me. 9. Thanks Craig. I am excited to hear how it sounds after your rebuild.
  10. Different strokes for different folks is what it boils down to I guess. I think just about any half decent band would sound good or at least better through Heritage Klipsch speakers given the right amp to go with it. Anyone care to dispute that statement? ---------------- On 11/23/2003 1:05:59 AM Allan Songer wrote: I must admit I know NONE of the bands you just listed! But then you probably have never heard a Joe Henderson record either. How the hell could Klipsch and tubes work for both? ----------------
  11. Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the manual for this amp?
  12. Thanks Gary, I didn't even notice that. Can you tell that I am relying on others expertise. Did I do OK on the price for the amp? ---------------- On 11/23/2003 1:09:30 AM garymd wrote: Good looking unit. Looks like you may need an extra knob cap. I'll see what I can do. ----------------
  13. Craig, What are the distortion specs for the Scott tubes? ---------------- On 11/22/2003 10:59:49 PM NOSValves wrote: distortion <0.1 @ 150 w into 8 ohms Classic solid state specs !! 14. I just bought a 299D on Ebay. So I guess I am going to be finding out myself firsthand. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3060083396&category=50593&rd=1

  16. The Scott 299 C&D,272 & 296, and the MC 240. I'll likely buy a 299 D because of the additional cost for 272 & 296 or the MC. But you never know??? Stay tuned. ---------------- On 11/21/2003 11:41:11 PM JBryan wrote: Vert CWs - very nice and pretty rare. I think these were discussed in another thread a little earlier today. 17. Anyone have any input on these? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3060366894&category=14993 They look SWEET! I sure wish I had some extra cash laying around to pick these up. I would be sleeping in the doghouse at best and likley single again for if I were to go "all in" on these bad boys.

  19. Gary, I really appreciate you checking and for the suggestions.
  20. Is $1800 a good price for a decent pair of K-Horns? I have no idea what the going rate for them is. I am only familiar with the prices of Heresy and Cornwalls.

  22. Any guesses as to how much this amp will end up going for? I bid $400 at the very beginning and got blown out already? They must be rare and/or high in demand. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3060341605&category=3280&rd=1
  23. ---------------- On 11/21/2003 10:30:28 AM mark1101 wrote: To the first time Scott guys. You should check out the 222s. I had Craig rebuild both of my Scotts and the 222 has a great great sound. The 299 has more power, no doubt. But I can't say enough about the 222 though. I'd buy another one of those in a second. As long as you are using Klipsch speakers, the 222 has enough power for even a large room. My basement is 22x36 and it's fine down there on the Las. ---------------- How do the Heresy and Cornwalls sound on the 299B? That's what I have.
  24. Do you or NOS Valves have experience rebuilding either of these? If not, who do you recommend to do so if I am so lucky to go this route? ---------------- On 11/20/2003 8:34:09 PM Ryan C. Inman wrote: ---------------- On 11/20/2003 8:18:33 PM tombjr wrote: Does anyone have anything good or bad to say about these amps? ---------------- Yes, they are extremely scarce and expensive. They also cost a lot of money to rebuild. They are loaded with Scott's world famous "Dynaural Noise Supressor". They are the best of the best in the Scott integrated lineup, very expensive back in the 1950's, and now! If you can get one cheap, go for it. -Ryan ----------------
