  1. I beleive I found that post about the 2 center channels. He has to face them the same way at the listener because they are center channels. I would be facing them in different directions from each other. Not in a stacked configuration like his. I was hoping with the sound waves pointing away from each other that there would be no cancellation.
  2. OK, we all know about rear firing main speakers as in the Definitive Technology bi-polar speakers and the electrostatic Martin Logans. I was wondering about setting up 2 RS-7's sort of back to back, In my case, my RS-7's are in corners on top of cabinets, what if I were to set up the left and right channels with the following confiuration: one speaker firing straight down the side wall toward the front and the other straight down the back wall. Do you think this would fill the room better? Or am I just a crazy guy and this would be overkill. Any thoughts?
  3. My brother has come accross this before with his old stand alone amp. Exact same thing. He took it to the shop and it was trouble shot to a diode. The diode sticks, you turn it up, and it opens up and lets the power through. The same thing happened to my Adcom GFA-1A which waited for 20 years to do it. Try all the above suggestions before you consult a repair facility.
  4. My wife and I really enjoy our Sanyo PLV-Z2 front projector on the 92" diag screen.
  5. I would buy a cheap nice table on wheels and just roll it out of the way when not in use.
  6. JHawk, I really like the center channel below. My screen is 33" off the floor and with the speaker directly below, I don't have to angle it up. In fact, it is just about in line with the KLF-20's mid-range horn. As far as getting a transparent screen, I never tried it or looked at one. I heard the the sound was OK, but, keep in mind you may have to remove the grill to make up the acoustical difference. There was also a comment about how light leaked through the back and washed out the picture a bit. That might be cured by putting velvet or velour behind the screen. Scalers: I don't know too much about them. DVDO has 480P Output only. The FSR MAS-4100 or the TVOne #CSC-1600HP, has selectable outputs to 1080i and are both price competitive with the DVDO. I heard this my from my projector dealer. Check around the net for prices. JBR
  7. Tom, I have a PM for you?. What's PM?
  8. The PLV-Z2 is very nice for this price range. The dials on the front panel for horizontal and vertical adjustment are a great feature. I do not need to use the key stoning adjustments. DVD's look great. Superbit DVD's and DVD's shot with HD video cameras are even better. If your a Dave Matthews fan, I recommend his 'Live in Central Park' which was shot with HD equipment. The Carada screen is excellent. Although Projector Central advises a high contrast gray, I still went with the brilliant white on the word of my Seattle dealer who sets up high end HT. He's right, brilliant white is the choice. When I was doing the A B switch, the grey washed out the skin tones. I would rather sacrifice black levels to get a more brighter picture. Besides, black is in the eye of the beholder. Carada is glad to send you 3 samples that are 8" x 11". Tape them up with your DVD on pause. Move them around to see black levels and skin tone. Carada's packaging was suppurb. I got it in the default 3 days shipping time through Airborn. I had the screen up in 40 min. Mine sits 33" off the floor and I'm 10+ feet back. The RC-7 is directly underneath. When I kick back in the reclining position, My eyes are pointed right at the screen. The Z2 looked great on my white wall. It looks excellent on the Carada. The Z2 dealer was telling me that 12 people sat in a room one weekend doing blind testing and the Carada always came out on top. Well, enough rambling. JBR
  9. My wife said it best...... "We finally have a screen size that fits our sound". We have been watching our 92" diag for 3 weeks now. 50" and 60" are now medium screens to us.
  10. Till, I wasn't able to look at the 2600 but I did pick up a 5100 and my wife noticed the difference as well as I did. The sound is much more cleaner. The depth is better as well. My surround (5.1) sounds fanastic. I even had to turn down the sharpness on my RPTV. I would talk to MonsterCable tech and ask them if they think there would be a difference between the 2600 and the next model up and so on.
  11. Hey Chris, I have set up our new RS7's and it sounds great! I also picked up a PowerCenter HTS 5100 from MonsterCable. I plugged everything into it. I have to tell you, the sound is so much smoother and the details are incredible. That was one investment my wife was even glad to spring for. We're hearing audio from movies and music CD's We've never heard before. I didn't realize my power was so dirty to my house. I have the screen samples from the outfit I'm going to buy the screen from. The Sanyo Z2 projectors are still on backorder here. Once I look at all the screen samples, I can choose the best fabric for my environment.
  12. Thanks for the quick response COLIN. I aim them at my sweat spot. 13. It's time for people to start thinking about front prjectors. I am going to sell my Toshiba 50" RPTV and most likely buy the new Sanyo PLV-Z2 (3-LCD's)front projection TV. Projectorcentral.com is raving about this product along with customers. Street price 1s 1999.00. I plan on getting the Cinema Contour screen About 800 to 1000 bucks). For around 3000 you can have a 100" diagonal 16 x 9 TV. You only need to be 10 feet back to get your 100". If your thinking of buying in 2 years, they will only be better. Note: LCD means no burn in. I plan on surfing on this puppy.
  14. When I purchase my RS-7's, they will be 6+ feet up on a shelf and I will only be 4 feet from them. I am concerned that the sound will shoot over me. If I setup them up angled down, will that mess with soumd quality/imaging? Front : KLF-20's Center: RC-7 Rear (currently): BES SM 300's (Anybody remember those?) 15. I'm new to the forum. How much space is required on either side of the ports on the RS-7's?
