  1. Canonsburg, eh ? You were only 3 miles from Dylanl and maybe 10 miles from me. You shoulda' called ! Hope you enjoy them ! Are those my old La Scala's in the background ?
  2. Soundbound, I will pm you the info. I would just like to get back something close to what I have in them. I also left a reply for you at AA, just disregard that one []
  3. Ummmmm, yeah. You can replace two thirds of your Belles and then they'll be OK. Get a pair of 19's, you'll never look back. I say this after owning and modifying Cornwall's and La Scala's, as well as spending lots of time listening to Khorns. Don't get me wrong, I like Klipsch Heritage but the 19's are a clear step up.
  4. No, those are on my 19's []
  5. I have a nice pair of 511B horns and 802 drivers (freshly rebuilt by Great Plains) available if you are interested.
  6. Bump..........Duke wanted them, but he's been MIA for several weeks.
  7. Don't waste your money on the Music Hall or similar. I had a mmf-7 and never liked it. It isn't worth more than a couple hundred bucks once you get past the glossy finish and see the build quality and actually listen to it. I have recently purchased a Technics 1200 and it is the real deal. Very good build quality, isolation, pitch stability, quiet background........ just has a relaxed ease to it's sound that is appreciated. I also have a modified Lenco that is in another league, sonically. If you feel a little ambitious, that project can be accomplished for similar $$.
  8. Still available........ These are a MAJOR upgrade for La Scala or Khorn, even with Klipsch drivers.
  9. Right, just the welds......and with a hand saw, Dean. Delicate work, 'ya know. [] Charlie, I'll get a few pics to you tomorrow.
  10. Nice pair, no broken or bent corners, etc.. Had some paint missing so I stripped them and repainted flat black. Welds have been cut and filled with black silicone to minimize ringing. I'll throw in a pair of the Parts Express adapters to fit Klipsch drivers. $175.00 obo
  11. Yep, that's the way I remember mine, too. Frustrating, 'cause I really wanted to like them. Best result I got was with a pair of Bottlehead 2A3 Paramour amps. Finally fixed it right with a pair of Altec 19's [][][]
  12. Front with grill removed......
  13. Here's some more info and a couple more pics..... Approximate dimensions are: 28" H x 17" W x 16" D. The amp probably had a manufacturer ID, but there is a adhesive plate covering that area on the back of the amp now. The plate was put on by AVMS, that's the company I got them from. AVMS had a deal with GR Research supplying finished examples of GR's AV-1 speaker, available at that time pretty much in kit form only. AVMS was also selling these subwoofers to complete the package. Amp........
  14. Time to put a little effort in to selling a few items that I'm no longer using. These subwoofers were used with my La Scala's, which are now owned by forum member "tuned4life". They were purchased from a online audio company now defunct. The ~ 3 cu. ft. sealed cabinets are 3/4" mdf except the front baffle is 1-1/2". There is also internal bracing. All corners are rounded and they are finished in a dark gray/black textured paint. The 12" driver is a NHT 1259. Typical plate amp recessed into the back with 180 deg adjustable phase, crossover point adjustment, line and speaker level inputs. One unique feature that is pretty handy is front mounted adjustment knobs for volume and crossover frequency _and_ a remote. makes it easy to tweak from your listening position. Approximately 3 years old but I haven't used them for a year. A few slight blemishes from shipping to me (the shipping box wasn't quite up to the weight of these monsters). No chips, just a slight dent or two IIRC. Nothing you would notice unless you were really looking. This is the only pic I have right now. I can get some more detailed pics for anyone interested. Original price was $600.00 each. I got them for $400.00 each since they were closing shop. Asking $225.00 each, or $400.00 for the pair.
  15. Mine are for sale in southwest PA. If you don't find a mint pair, and would settle for a "good" condition pair, keep 'em in mind. '82 vintage with type A networks, original AL's too.
  16. Ive owned Cornwall's (the highly regarded Alnico vertical's) and ditched them in favor of La Scala's (with subs). Now I've moved on to Altec 19's and ditched the La Scala's. The improvement with each step was not small. Never heard Valencia's; I know the bass is not as extended, due to the cabinet volume, and the 19 has a better HF driver with tangerine phase plug. That might make the comparison closer, but you owe it to yourself to hear both before deciding.
  17. Here's a pic of my Dodd 8 watt amp. This is a superb sounding amplifier with my Altec 19's.
  18. ---------------- The Dodd Audio amps. are sold. Thanks, Guy ---------------- Somebody's gonna' be happy with those. I have Gary Dodd's 8 watt stereo amp and it is awesome.
  19. The guy that makes these also owns "the largest collection of recorded music anywhere". It's about 45 min. from my house. I've visited a few times and bought some Jimmy Smith LP's. Amazing place......... See: https://recordrama.sslpowered.com/
  20. Dylanl, you ain't heard nothin' yet.......build some better crossovers, then it's all and
  21. I have a set, purchased from Paul at Bizzy B: http://www.2baudio.com/ I'm no tube expert, but Paul is and he says these are virtual copies of the original Mullards. I can say with certainty that they sound very different than the Electro Harmonix and Dutch Amperex EL34's I have. These provide a very resolved, tight sound. A little bright for me with this particular amp, but I only have a few hours on them so far. My opinion might change with more listening.
