  1. I have parted out a Brociner corner horn speaker with the help of the prominent board member who wishes to remain anonymous, or an arrow will pierce my bony behind. I need help identifying the manufacturer of this horn, so I can put it up for sale. Any and all help will be appreciated.
  2. It's 1950s vintage, built like a tank, slight water damage to one area at the bottom, approximately the same dimensions and shape as K-Horn. Local pick-up only. I'm in Rhode Island. Not looking to make a killing here, just cleaning house. First $50 takes it. I will have the photos tonight.
  3. R to R newb here. How to tell the difference between good quality and bad quality prerecorded tapes. Does the tape speed matter?
  4. I saw maybe 30-40 classical reel-to-reel tapes at the local thrift store, looked to be barely played, if ever. Deutsche Gramophone and London were two of the labels. $2 apiece they were.
  5. Sounds like a great night! Wish I'd been there!
  6. As soon as I tie trusty old Scott 299B around my ankles...
  7. http://www.nytimes.com/2006/05/16/business/worldbusiness/16cheat.html?_r=1&oref=slogin Well, it's not Russian mafia anymore, to be precise. It's the FSB [former KGB]-controlled state-sponsored crime syndicate, but it still sucks. I figure Putin is not into the sweet tube sound...
  8. I was given a quote of $400 for the pair by the local furniture restoration place. I supply the veneer. What do you think of this price?
  9. I have a 1972 pair I'm having veneered. The speakers are at the furniture refinishing place right now and I don't have the dimensions, but need em for ordering the veneer. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. $15 worth of 16 gage wire for $80. No excessive profit there. This all very enlightening stuff. However, I needed an in-wall rated wire, so the electrician would do everything up to code, the way it should be. So that's the wire I got. My question still stands - at what hight should the cables exit the wall to attach to the K-Horns? At the height of the terminals on the speaker body or a bit lower?
  11. I got the cable - it's the Monster Cable XP-CI in-wall rated 100 ft. spool at Best Buy's for $80. My next question is at what hight should the cables exit the wall to attach to the K-Horns? At the height of the terminals on the speaker body?
  12. Thinking of veneering my K-Horns. I'd like to find the absolute top of the line quality natural veneer. Can anybody suggest a trustworthy online store?
  13. Electrician will put them through the walls as soon as I buy. It will feed music from a Scott 299 brought back to life by Senor 3dzapper. I'm not big on expensive cables. What's a good dyi cable for K-horns, and what's a good commercially-available cable? Thanks.
  14. In addition to a couple of chairs and a sofa I was thinking of cleaning some removable speaker grilles with an upholstery steamer. Anybody have any experioence with those fabric steamers?Bad idea? Thanks.
  15. I am elated to inform y'all that I just bought my first [and hopefully last] pair of K-Horns, in large part due to Forum's own Mr. 3dzapper giving me a heads up. As it happens with most K-horn purchases I will have to pick up the speakers in person. What helps is that I have a pick-up truck. I also have tie-downs and padded blankets and a furniture dolly. I will appreciate any advice on how to load them onto the said truck. Hopefully I will have a helper. Thanks and wish me luck!
