Bumping, because I don't know anyone who doesn't like pictures of Chorus IIs, giant tapped horn subs, or German shepherds, so to have all three in one place is simply magical.

You should really look into this one. That is one awesome price with warranty.
I am actually very tempted myself.

Is close -- this one isn't a v3, and AFAIK only the v3 supports Dirac. If Dirac isn't one of your requirements, then this looks like a fantastic deal.

Were I in the market for a receiver, this is the one I would buy: https://nadelectronics.com/product/t-758-v3-av-surround-sound-receiver/.

I have a set in black I'm thinking of selling, and they could be stripped and veneered in birch. Something along those lines might be the shortest path to a clean raw birch finish.

View from the couch, Chorus II and German shepherd for scale:
I'm glad you asked about a build thread because you reminded me there is one. I didn't do this build, but I'll find the thread and link it here.
EDIT: Here's the build thread: http://www.avsforum.com/forum/155-diy-speakers-subs/1487211-just-my-modest-lilwrecker-s-build.html. It's a fun read, especially the felinectomy on page two.

Shop grade. If someone wanted to make it pretty they'd probably want to put a skin of 1/4" ply or MDF on it and veneer that since its current appearance is quite . . . industrial.
-
Hi Schu, it's ply.

Sold June 9, 2018.

Hello,
I have a Lilmike's LilWrecker loaded with a Stereo Integrity HT15D4. I drive it with an iNuke3000DSP which makes a pretty good match. Here is its thread -- http://www.avsforum.com/forum/155-diy-speakers-subs/1451519-lilmike-s-lilwrecker.html
It's a big ugly beast -- it was built and used but never finished, but that does have an upside -- you can finish it however you like. It's currently in use in Visalia, CA, and since it's about the size of a narrow refrigerator, it's obviously local pickup only. I can drive a reasonable distance to meet you.
Asking $350, and will do a package deal with the amp for $550. -
As the title says. I can post pics but they'll look just like the stock photos, and mine will be taken under poor indoor lighting with a cell phone camera.

I just wonder how much mint a guy is growing that it takes a tractor to harvest it.

Forum member miahg is the proud new owner of these La Scalas. Miahg, it was a great pleasure meeting you and nerding out over some music and gear, and I hope these bring you as much enjoyment as they brought me, if not even more. Cheers!

The neighbor did ask me to turn it down. When I pointed out there were no wires going to them, he said he didn't care and I needed to turn it down anyway.

Spring cleaning time is just about here, and it's time for these all-original La Scala LS-BLS with upper grills, serial numbers 8411190 and 91, to find a new home.
They have normal wear for speakers of their age -- there are some nicks, some scratches, and there is some peeling of the lacquer. Adhesive-backed magnets now hold the grills in place as the glue on the velcro pads turned to dust sometime during the last Bush administration.
They're located in Visalia, California, halfway between Fresno and Bakersfield, and I can only do local pickup. $1,250.

It's a shame Quartets don't get more love, they're great speakers. Just out of curiosity, why the move from Quartets to Cornwalls?

What seems to be the problem in moving those? They are in decent shape, a little rough on top but that is easily cleaned up. The price is actually $150 under the avg selling price. Are people replying and offering $1,000? That would be my guess.
There's been some interest, yes, but

Three hours from everything and just a few short minutes from nothing at all!
It's all right, they don't have to leave soon. They're pretty happy in my spare room, and since one of the Quartets in the bedroom wants to move to the living room and be a center for the Chori, the La Scalas may just move to the bedroom.

Hello,
Much as I love these, the Chorus II is much more practical in the room I have now, so it's time to let them go. La Scala LS-BLS, with upper grills, serial numbers 8411190 and 91. All original components.
They have normal wear for speakers of their age -- there are some nicks, some scratches, and there is some peeling of the lacquer. The glue on the velcro sticky doo-dahs that hold the grills in place gave up the ghost a long time ago, so adhesive-backed magnets do that job now.
Located in Visalia, California, halfway between Fresno and Bakersfield, local pickup only. $1,250.

Excellent! Now what are you going to do about subs?
-
Ouch! Dude!
Okay, while you have things apart and are tinkering, do the A --> AA conversion on the crossovers. Running the Type A at war volume is a sure path to getting really really good at diaphragm replacements.
Which is fine, of course, if getting really really good at diaphragm replacements is your goal.

Ok i am not a audio tech person but here is what i was wondering? Being i like the way my Hersey's sound in the mid and highs and i like the bass of my Quartets...Can i put the mid and highs in my Quartets being the are both 3 way speakers.I know i would have to do a little tweaking for the mid to fit in the Quartets but other than that can it be done? Also what crossover should i use. What are your thoughts on this am i missing something.I would also like to be able to put both sets back to original if need be.
Goal: The bass repsonse of Quartets with the mid/high character of Heresys.
Path of least resistance to achieving the goal: Sell the Quartets and Heresys. Use the money to buy Cornwalls.
Done. Four people are happy.

Box volume: 3.5 ft^3
Ports: Two 3" diameter x 5 5/8" long
F3: 37 Hz
With 50 watts:
Port air velocity: 16 ft/s
Xmax at ~54 Hz
110 db at 100 Hz, 106 at 40
A 2nd order Butterworth highpass at 35 Hz keeps things safe below tune. The box is 20% larger than djk's but is otherwise probably about the same thing.

As an iNuke user, IMO it only makes sense in a residential setting if you're getting it for its DSP; without that it's just an ugly pro amp that needs adapters to use with most consumer gear, and as a bonus it comes with a horrible orange LCD display and a noisy fan. A plate amp or any old Adcom you get for cheap will do just as well without the fan noise, adapter hassles, and fan issues.
Having said that, the DSP is worth the effort.

The La Scala bin can go up to 700ish with light and easily-reversible mods -- check out Carl Huff's SEOScala project over at AVS. Is it loading you're looking for, or pattern control? Where are you wanting to cross?
Dave's Fastrac horns come up in the classifieds from time to time, and I have a pair of original metal K400s for sale in the garage sale section if you want to go with an all-Klipsch solution as well.

Very Small Room: Quartet, Heresy III, or Forte III
in General Klipsch Info
Posted
I have a set of Quartets for bedroom speakers and in my opinion they do just fine in a smallish room. I'm also of the opinion that installing acoustic treatments will make a much bigger difference than changing between any of those speakers will.
I should add that I own Heresys and have owned Fortes as well, and I prefer the Quartet/Forte to the Heresy and don't think the move from Quartet to Forte is cost-justified for small room use. If you want them because you want them that's cool, no judgment here, but it bears repeating that the room will make a much bigger difference than the speaker swap will.
