  1. Rotties are prone to certain types of cancer. I've been thinking about going with a raw diet for him as there's a gereral concencus that much of their problems are food related. I plan on discussing this with my vet when he goes in for his next round of shots.

First congrats on yer new bestest buddy

I cannot recommend strongly enough going with a RAW diet for your new bestest buddy. It is all I feed my Malinois. Our old girl Alex(RIP) was 10'ish and sliding down the slope pretty fast. We switched her to RAW and it was like flipping a switch. She took weight off, began behaving like she was 7'ish. She lived to be just a bit over 16. RAW ia all our boys have ever been fed. When we got our new gal DJ last year she was returned to the breeder by her former owner because her Vet said she had hereditary gastro digestional problems. Given I know both the sire and dam, I heard this and laughed out loud, the idiot Vet had placed her on Corticlesteriods at 9 weeks until we got her at 12 weeks. The breeder got her back and we took her switched her to RAW and all digestive and gastro problems disappeared overnight. She has the constitution of a tank now she could eat one too and not even flinch. Most vets will discourage RAW, because it poses sanitation issues when you handle a lot of raw meats adn bones. I test my dogs blood panels and organ functions yearly and they are spot on.

You are right for some reason black and tan dogs (Rotties, Dobies, Beaucy's.. seem to have a high incidence of bone cancers and immuno problems.) Our Mali breeder si a big fan of Rotties, he has a female who can do the work and just charm you into adoring her. She has the most positive personality I've ever encountered in a dog, no environmental sensitivities at all.

  2. I've never seen a Star Wars film all the way through. I ALWAYS fall asleep, whether in a theater or at home. People are surprised when I tell them this, but I'm pretty sure I understand why this happens. Undeniably, there are a lot of exciting and spectacular scenes in every one of these movies. Very engaging stories, too. But there are also these quiet, "catch-your-breath" segments immediately following the most action-packed scenes. They have proven to be quite restful for me. After I've experienced a Star Wars film, I feel quite refreshed.

I should also confess that I fall asleep to most movies. I think it's that they turn down the lights. Oh, and I'm usually snuggled up in my jammies and blanket. I turn heads at the multiplex, I do.

Is that before or after you change into your Jammies?

  4. Once the membrane is removed I cut my racks into two pieces, then coat each with a very small amount of olive oil just enough to make a thin film. Then I destroy/mine/crush garlic and red onions and add to the ribs. Next I add dry rub, a generous amount dry rub and then wrap the ribs in foil to marinate overnight.

Next day I light the smoker and I put 1/3 white wine, 1/3 apple juice and 1/3 water into a pan. The pan sits between the coal and the ribs and steams while they smoke. I add soaked hardwood and smoke em for two hours at 225’ish. The depending on the amount of meat on the ribs I either cretch them in foil or let them finish on the lump charcoal until they are done. I add water to the pan as needed.
