I would say that both of you have no knowledge about PC sound and how it works. Believe it or not, PC has analogue sound which means that you won't hear anything from digital outputs except sources that are digital like DVD movies or CD music. Creative Labs has introduced their own processor DDTS-100 that is $50 more expensive but features Dolby EX, DTS ES, Neo 6 and Prologic II in addition to basic Dolby Digital and DTS and what is most important it features switch box that will let you hook DDTS-100 with digital inputs and regular analogue sound card outputs. When you want to watch DVD movies select digital output in your DVD player and then switch to DDTS-100 and when you do the rest in analogue on your PC just flip the switch. Promedia DD-5.1 doesn't include any switch box or any instructions on how to connect PC to it and therefore it is not meant for PC at all unless you want to play DVD movies on your PC. Klipsch should have clarified this on their web site or in Promedia DD-5.1 manual. IGN review of Creative Labs DDTS-100: http://gear.ign.com/articles/449/449167p1.html?fromint=1
