Just curious...what is the best way to sell my 1975 Cornwall speakers. I have had them sent they were new and have an extra set of grills as well. I'm 80 years old and hearing ability has decreased so I don't enjoy their quality any more.

Thanks for the info. My Cornwalls were 1975 vintage according to one gentlemen on the forum who was VERY knowledgeable about Klipsch having worked for them for many years. The emblems on newer grills are located in the center/top and simply say KLIPSCH in a copper color with alternating shades. Therefore they were probably made in those in between years. The other posts denote that I am probably to high for them so I will probably just keep them as I don't want to rip anyone on the forum off. I really respect the opinions submitted on the forum and have really benefited on several occassions from advice rendered by others. I did use the forum to sell my (almost) new KSW sub when I got my SVS. I made the buyer a good deal and he said it was a better deal than he could find on eBay for one in that condition.

It has been so long ago, I can't remember what I paid for them. I think the high side of your range would be the minimum I would accept (if that) as they are in mint condition. I don't really need the funds and if no one bites, then I will simply keep them. With my luck, the next day after I ship them, someone will slip and fall through the grills that are installed. Do you happen to know when Klipsch changed the logo on the grills from the V to the bar? I have a mint set of 1975 Cornwalls C-WO that I purchased new from a dealer in Little Rock, AR. They originally came with a brown/black tweed grill with the Klipsch V emblem located in the corners. The dealer I purchased them from was a friend of mine and several years later he talked me into an optional set of grills that were bascially black with the Klipsch bar in the center. Due to the decor of my home, I have been using the black grills (although both sets look great)for the past several years. The set not being used is kept wrapped in a protective cover in a controlled (room temperature) environment. My question is this: I am considering putting one or the other (probably the brown tweed) grill sets up for sale either on e-bay or some other forum. Can anyone suggest a price? Trust me--they are in new condition as I have no pets and when my children were young, the speakers were inside cabinets made especially for them with doors to protect them when not in use. I have gotten great advice from others in the forum before and would welcome any now regarding their value.

Audioholic Sorry I offended your sense of taste in music. I'm just an old man who likes a wide range of music (that's why I got the Cornwall's 25 years ago. I have other titles in my DVD collection that you could slash your ankles and throat over such as Santana, the Eagles, John Fogerty, Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Riverdance to name a few. I just thought someone might be intereseted in a DVD that I thought was well done but how wrong I was! Better go--WalMart just in the new Britney Speers "Live in Bubblegum Land".

I recently purchased the "Yanni Live at the Acropolis" music DVD and, in my opinion, it is awesome! It rivals the quality and sound of the Eagles "Hell Freezes Over". It will put your HT system to the test. The drum and base guitar solos ROCK! Does anyone else have this DVD-your thoughts? I use the opinions of the forum members to buy DVD's that are highly rated. Forum members Thanks for your emails about the sub--it has been sold to a forum member and I'm glad someone who uses the forum took advantage of the offer. I am a member of several forums (HomeTheatreSpot, etc.) but enjoy reading (and occassionally partipating) in the Klipsch forum the most. I have corresponded with the individual who knew those who built my Cornwalls in 1975 and have gotten VERY helpful advice from members regarding hookups, speaker selection, etc. Thanks again--

I recently sent my Onkyo 797 back to the authorized internet dealer due to the "infamous" ticking sound that seems to occur in this model. Fortunately for me they took it back (it was outside the 30 return period) and will allow me to trade it on any other model they carry I can trade up to the Onkyo 898 (which some say also is experiencing the same problem) or get the HK 520 for slightly less. I know most on the forum like the Denon but this is not an option due to this situation. I have Cornwall's, Reference Series center and rears, and have just ordered an SVS PCi 25-31. Does anyone use the HK 520 and what are your thoughts about this receiver (I can't afford the 8000!) Thanks--you on the forum have provide great advice in the past and I value your input--

Ine937s I don't know if you saw my post of 6-26-02 just below yours but as I stated I will sell you a brand new KSW-12 for $300 and ship it to Brooklyn. Most of my electronics (not speakers) came from your area anyway (J&R Electronics). They were great to deal with and very cost effective! The KSW-12 is a good sub (not top of the line by any means) but would be a great value for what I am asking. It might be slightly large for your apartment but the one I am ordering (SVS) is much larger. Thought I would past this on before I put it on eBay or in my local paper.

I probably need to go to eBay with this but thought someone in "Klipsch land" might be interested. I have a BRAND NEW! KSW-12 (bought to compliment my Cornwalls) that I would like to sell. It was purchased from an authorized Klipsch dealer who does primarily custom installations and it was ordered from Klipsch for me and therefore it did not sit around in dealer inventory. It has had a minimal amount of playing time and does not have the fuse or hum problem I have read about on previous posts. It's serial number is 12KSW 0154-2740 and I think it was mfg. in March or April, 2002. The only reason I am going to sell it is that I am going to get a Reference Series sub match my other Reference speakers or possibly an SVS Ultra. Again, it is brand new and has no marks or no indication of use of any kind. I have the original box, internal box wrap, manual with its plastic cover, instructions, etc. I am very particular with my audio equipment as my 1975 WO Cornwalls look as good today as they did when I bought them new. I am asking $300 and will pay shipping (within reason) to the buyer. This would be well below any discounted dealer or internet price if taxes, shipping, etc. are taken into account. One final note: I'm not in the audio selling/trading business--I can easily move this unit locally but thought someone on the forum (which has been a great help to me) might have a need for the KSW-12 at a good price. sgarrott@troycable.net

HBDRbuilder It was indeed someone else who identified the year of manufacture of my Cornwalls 1975). You replied giving me information on the "BB" stamped on the back and some information about the names on the label whom you knew. My Cornwalls (like many others) are Walnut and in almost perfect condition (one tiny nick in on the edge from a move several years ago). I have the original set of cane colored grills with the V emblem and another set of black grills with the horizontal bar emblem. I change them out periodically just for the "hell of it". HBDRbuilder You replied to me previously concerning my Cornwalls. First, I indeed would like to see them return but the cost, as many have stated, would probably make them prohibitive to the extent that the market would be slimmer than Klipsch would desire for a product introduction. Also, would you need to build a family of speakers (center, surrounds, etc.) around them as well? What I am curious about is that you identified my as being constructed in 1975. My tweeter and mid are both horizontal but one post stated the following: I have heard the "vertical" and "horizontal" side by side and the "vertical" sounds better--much better. Perhaps it had something to do with the fact that the horizontals were made in '82 and the verticals in '64, but the difference, especially in "imaging" and "soundstage" (I hate those auidophile terms!) was breathtaking. Is this referring to the speaker placement (horizontal or vertical)? If this is so, it says the horizontals were made in 82+. I would appreciate you input. Again, thanks for your previous and very informative posts. I really enjoy reading your comments.

HDBRbuilder Thank you so much for your kind reply. You were correct, it was Custom Audio. One of my former classmates from the University of Arkansas, Jan Thurman, was working there at the time. I drove over from Alabama and picked them up because of the deal he gave me. I had worked with him in Fayetteville (also in a store called Custom Audio) and got hooked on Klipsch there. I got back into audio (AV) recently and started to sell them as they were only minimally used for many years as my kids grew up and my interests were elsewhere. They were set in a built-in area in our den and were basically untouched during that time. I came across the Klipsch forum and simply inquired as to what they might be worth. Due to the kind responses of many forum members I realized I had a "treasure" and then made them the focal point of my home theatre system along with an RC3II, a pair of RB-3's, and a KSW12. Some forum members disagreed with my mixture but so far I couldn't be more pleased. Again, thank you for your reply. I now know that the marriage vow statement "only unto death will we part" now applies to my Cornwalls as well. One final note--after looking closer at the inspector's name, it is indeed Gwin. SCG PS--To other forum participants who read this, I'm sure it meant little to you--but this series of posts literally "blew me away"!

HDBRbuilder I thoroughly enjoyed reading your fascinating story about PWK. I have a mint set of Cornwall's I bought new from a dealer in Little Rock sometime during the middle 70's. I was told they were built in 75 and you said you started work after that. They have the following serial numbers C-WO, 7N506 and 7N507. However, one has the initials BB stamped in the upper corner. Was this a set you had a hand in constructing? If so, what a rare opportunity and treat to meet the individual who has given me years of listening pleasure. I agree with Benny. I choose the Onkyo 797 over the others that have been mentioned to go with my Cornwalls, RC-3II, RB-3's, and a KSW-12. As he said, it's not pretty, but it is sturdy built, and has performed flawlessly since I got it several months ago. I would have like to have gotten the 898 but couldn't justify the $$ for my type of use. Bottom line, you probably wouldn't go wrong with any of the ones mentioned (Denon, HK, or Onkyo).
