  1. Oh, I almost forgot. They also reviewed the Tripath super chip amp! Nice review sums up what many on the forum have said. Koodos to Stereophile I say!
  2. Hello everyone! I've only been lurking as of late due to house moving and an overly hectic last month, but I couldn't wait to let eveyone know that Mark got a very nice review in the Oct issue of Stereophile! My favorite writer there (Art Dudly) seemed to be very enamered by the Blueberry's great sound and value. I've only skimmed the review so far but I think Mark's going to have to ramp up his business soon. Congrulations Mark! [<)]
  3. Thanks for posting the picture Paul. I'm not sure why my pictures didn't post. There are many more on the link.
  4. Thanks Mike, Yes the grain pattern is beautifull. The good thing about turning them horizontal, is that more grain then shows from their "sides". Thanks for the good wishes on the move. I'm not looking foward to it. I'll post some pictures of my new Khorn setup after I move in. I have one good corner and a corner with an 18"jut out of wall. I'll be making a false wall in the near future.
  5. Your right about my post being a little confusing. I've made a couple of changes. The sale is for One single Cornwall speaker. Thanks for pointing my error out to me.
  6. Hello Guys! Long time no post. I got "promoted" to the day shift lead postiion at my job and lost my internet posting time. [] A couple of months ago I posted about my Shorthorn and Vetical Cornwall II find. http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/thread/722604.aspx My family is moving in less than two weeks to a new home and I'm having to sell some of my gear. This Cornwall is in very good cosmetic condtion and excellent working order. It is an original Cornwall with plywood construction and walnut wood veneer. However it has the II designation, being that it has the vertical mounted tweeter and squawker horns. This allows it to be a great center channel speaker on its sides. I'm asking $600 for the speaker plus shipping (I'm open to reasonable offers). Not much more costly than the infeior (though more WAF) Academy center. The speaker is in beautiful, though not perfect cosmetic condtion. There are a very few small scratches and nicks that have to be looked for. The cane grill has a couple of loose strands here and there, that could be easily repaired I think. Local pickup is very welcome in Albuqueque, NM, or I can pack it in a brand new 40x30x30 TRIPPLE walled box with foam plating all around the speaker for $160 insured to the lower 48 states. I've shipped hundreds of vintage gear through my eBay ID Retrohub, so rest assured I'll pack this speaker extremely well. The bottom riser will be unscrewed and boxed seperately. If you follow this link, you'll be able to see 12 very high resolution pictures (please note that the color of the wood and grills is somewhat in between what's depicted in the pictures with and without the flashes): http://www.villagephotos.com/pubbrowse.asp?folder_id=1714178 If you have any other questions, I'll be happy to answer them. Take care and best wishes - David in Albuquerque.
  7. I'm in too. A very small token of the gratitude for all the help and knowedge Craig has given to me and others.
  8. Craig, so very sorry to hear of your dad's passing. I too lost my dad last year, it still pains me greatly sometimes, but I've done my best to remember him in all the positives his life left on me. Roger sums my feelings nicely, with his words: "In time.... everything good you learned from your dad and all those good memories will make you smile instead of the pain of the loss you have now.. " My prayers go out to you and your family. David
  9. Congratulations Trey and Tony! Those are the kind of jobs I want when I grow up! [] Trey, now you can have a heritage center channel speaker made for us! []
  10. Good price IMHO. I have (I'm pretty sure) those drivers in my single Univesity cabinet and it sounds real nice. My shorthorn that I just found has a Stephen Trusonic woofer and University horns. (see pictures on two channel).
  11. Captn Bob, I'm not sure myself. When I first saw it, I didn't even know what the Shorthorn was. A little seraching and I sooun found out. All the drivers and the crossover do have a Klipsch inspected label on them if that means anything. Chris, very nice of you regarding the dimensions. If I decide to keep the Shorty, I'd like to have some pics or plans for those front/side panels. The more I think about it, I might sell my Universiy and put the Klipsch in my bedroom instead. The woofer is the 103LX bye the way. Whats the difference?
  12. Thanks Michael, I dig the silver too. Mike L, close but no banana! [] The reciver on the left is a Sansui 9090DB, the one on its right is a Pioneer SX-950. My flash sort of killed the details and makes them hard to see. I had a G8000, but I had to sell it. [] I bet you miss your too. Those G8000 are one of the manliest receivers ever made. 55 pounds of monster receiver. On the other side of the room is my Scott 299 thats still waiting to be sent for a tune up and my new Mac 1700. Spread throughout the house is a smattering of more audio peices than I can use or keep. I hate selling gear, but I can't help buying goodies when I find them and need to keep some funds in the bank. I have a collection though that wont be sold (unless I find something I like better!). Besides selling helping pay the bills, it alows me to keep goodies like my Khorn, Fortes etc. for ME!!
  13. Cool! iCorns. I would never paint speaker myself either, but those look pretty nice.
  14. I think you may be right Mike. I have a beatiful 1950's University speaker in my bedroom set up as a mono system with an old sweet sounding Sony receiver a turntable and a reel to reel. I might give some thought to selling that and keeping the Shorthorn. The Univerisy has a much higher WAF though. I'll have to post a picture of it tomorrow.
  15. Here is an old picture of my garage sale pine equipment rack. Some of the equiment as been replaced by other peices, and the room in front of the Khorns and the rack is filled with too many extra speakers. Hello my name is Dave, and I think I have a probelm....
  16. Thanks for all the input and sugestions guys! I'm going to have to take a picture of my living room some time to show what an understanding wife I do have. I think I'm pushing her limits though. [] Dr. Who, Your right the Shortys are interesting speakers. Ironically, if I had a second match with a sub, I think they would probalbly be a better over all speaker in my too small living room then the Khorns. (not that I'm getting rid of the Khonrs in my lifetime). Sheite Dave, correct you are about the tube tuner section in the Mac 1700. Thats part of what make fight my salivation glands at the ladys house. Sure has a nice musical sound to it. My first Mac. Hope to someday have a pair of MC240's and a good tube preamp. Michael and Lary I know the veritical horned Corn is supposed to be a great center channel speakers, but I have my 32" tv on a Boltz metal rack that holds the TV perfect and my modern equipment in it. My vintage gear sits on a large pine rack on the side of my room with a switch box located between the two for switching my speakers between vintage and modern. Looks and works great and my wife loves it. I've had a pair of old Fisher XP-15 speakers under the TV for a while and my wife would'nt be pleased with going back to that. Oh the agony of not having an ideal room and limited funds. I'm deffinetly going to have to sell at least the Shorthorns to put some money back in my bank. I was planning on selling the Cornwall (since its a single), and keeping the Mac, but now I'm going to have to think about that some more. Don't want to live in the world of audio regrets.
  17. Thanks Seadog. Yes the cain looks nice. Wish my Horns had that instead of the poop brown tweedy cloth. The cain has a couple of loose strands here and there, but looks beautiful and could probably be fixed up. I got to run now, as I'm at work and my replacement should be here soon. I'll be back tomorow. Have a good night guys and gals!
  18. Hey Clarence, thank you and yes I got a pretty good deal. I'm not sure yet if I'll sell one or more of the two speakers. I know I'll get grief from the wife if I don't, but I know I'll kick myself later if I do. Could have worse things happen. : ) I do know, I want to enjoy them for a while longer. David
  19. Shorthorn back Check out the goodies peeking behind the slip. []
