  1. Well, they are not the finish that you would like, but I have heard that the RS-7's make nice backing speakers for your 7.1 surround. I know that I'm in a delema now because I am going to put some KG4's as my surround which leaves me the option of putting my RS-3II's as back surrounds or my KG1's. The KG1's will match the Chorus II's and the KG4, but not sure about how the sound will compair. Like I said, I've heard the RS-7's are good for surround. I also think that another member here is using Heresy's as surrounds and they sound pretty good from what I'm told. Just my opinion.
  2. Yeah, if you can find 2 or 3 of them at a store for $300 you'll make a killing on Ebay. If I found a deal around here like that I'd ****** them up in a heart beat and maybe I could pay off my upgrade kick that I just had.... Dave, what size TV is that? Looks like around 55" or so. That freaking Center is a monster, it's going to look nice on my 32" TV but almost as long as it.... I'd probably have a larger TV if it weren't for my limited space and the fact that the space limits where I can put my Chorus II's that ARE NOT magnetically shielded and wreak havok on my current TV if I turn them just a few degrees. I also have them about 3' away from my TV on each side.
  3. Jaba, I think you're really going to like the SVS sub man. I just bought a 20-39PC+ to replace my KSW-12 and sat back the first night after getting it and listened to LOTR Two Towers and watched the Orcs marching into Helmsdeep and was COMPLETELY blown away. Yes, the PC+ is a step up but man, I don't know how you could go wrong with SVS.
  4. Dave, thanks man. Much appreciated. Nice Khorns. =) Like the TV as well. I see the living space gets sucked up quick this those big things.
  5. Thanks for the tip man. I purchased a C7 speaker but will keep an eye out of this and maybe purchase it just to see how it sounds in compairison.
  6. Quote From BigBusa: "I do not think it's unrealistic of the seller to sell to a higher bidder behind the scenes. Especially, in this case when it's probably $200 more money in his pocket. Yeah, it's wrong but that's the way the cookie crumbles." But these are the things that destroy people's confidence in Ebay and the sellers that reside within it. If he would have told me that someone offered him more money and that if I wanted it he would want more money, I would have seriously considered it. I would have done this without writing a negative review on him on Ebay as well. The fact is, he should have investigated his facts a bit more before making that post. PERIOD. Sure, it could have been someone else from Ebay that messaged him, but I found it ODD how I posted that link in these forums and then all of a sudden the speaker has a tear in the cone.....And I'm glad that you get a bit of humor out of this Busa with the comment, I can assure you that I wasn't really humored by it. But I understand it and would have a lot more respect for someone if they just told it to me straight instead of making up some sort of BS email to cover their a$$.
  7. =) Seller contacted me in the afternoon and returned email with him and chatted with him on the phone. Sorry, I didn't know he was trying to sell it here. I needed a center for my Chorus II's and the RC-3II just didn't cut it.
  8. Ok, here is the email I recieved from him yesterday; Just giving you an update. Last night I went to check the speaker over before I had you get it this weekend and I noticed a small tear in one of the MIDRANGE: K-57-K 1.5" (3.81cm) Phenolic diaphragm compression driver's. I believe my son may have caused this awhile back. We are having a long talk tonight though. I have a call into Customer Service at Klipsch inquiring about a replacement speaker. I don not know the price of the replacement speaker, shipping charges or any installation charges I may incur. I will keep you updated on any correspondence that I get back from Customer Service. This may cause the price of the speaker to go up. At this time I have to wait and hear back from Klipsch. In the mean time after I receive your payment in my account I will refund $ 231.83 to you. After I have it repaired I will e-mail you about the new price and see if you are interested. If not I can list it on E-Bay again. This is all considering I can find an original replacement for the Academy. Sorry for any inconvenience Now, if he truely emails me AFTER he gets this fixed as he says, then it will be a different story. I have yet to see my money come back and I was under the impression that one you send the money via Credit Card, then it was a done deal. Is there some sort of wait time before he can actually draw this money from this account and send it back to me? I'm not sure how to approch it with giving him a hard time about it. I could make a stink about it and email Ebay, but I'm just trying to get my money back. Yes, I'm upset that the guy didn't research his item first before posting with with BIN sticker, but other than give him a bad rating, what can I do? I did reply to him and kept it civil as he kept things civil with me. It was obvious that he wanted to make up some sort of story so that I didn't write a bad review of him on Ebay about his selling methods, and it's a good story I suppose. I haven't heard a lot of horror stories of Ebay and recently read an article in the paper about how good Ebay is. Perhaps too good to be true....I just want my money back and the seller offered buyer protection, if that's worth anything.
  9. Other than the cones, the RF-7's don't have any visual redeming qualities IMO. None of the current stuff does....It's all black....I like the oiled oak finishes of yester year, they just do so much more for me. On top of that, they sound absolutly beautiful. I have heard the RF-7 with all of it's compliments that go with it and was very impressed with the sound, I still would't trade my Chorus II's for a pair though. Nice system.
  10. Well, I'm going to assume that SOMEONE emailed the seller and said something because GUESS WHAT? I got an email tonight stating that one of the cones had a tear in it after further inspection........Somehow I had this sinking feeling when I realized what I did yesterday that this was EXACTLY how this was going to play out..... So, to anyone that may have been the culprit behind this...>THANK YOU. It's truely sad and it does nothing but keep pushing the prices of these things up. Sorry if I'm a bit bitter...... I did pick up a KLF-C7 tonight though, not as nice of a price.
  11. Well, I appreciate the replies and considering what the Academy is going for and because I didn't get it.....WEIRD......I am going to purchase a KLF-C7 and make do for the present time. I figure it will be the closest match to my Chorus II's other than the Academy. I don't doubt that Academy is a perfect match by listening to it in a few moments, but the prices are TOO steep. The nice thing about my Pioneer Elite 45TX is that it offers a 5 band EQ per channel and I think with some proper tweaking I could make the center sound pretty nice. It also has to be much better than the RC-3II that I'm currently running. Last night I watched a little LOTR Two Towers and noticed the RC-3II really doesn't keep up as well as I'd like. The Chorus II's are just so much better. Freak
  12. So, I had a KLF-C7 that I was bidding on yesterday and lost, but the guy and I exchanged emails about it and I mentioned that I really wanted an Academy. He responded by saying that while the Academy is a better timbre match to the Chorus II's, the CLF-C7 would sound better because it has a larger horn and plays the mid-ranges better. So, I started thinking about this and was curious what others thought on this that have heard both paired with the Chorus II's, Forte' II's, or the Quartets. Any feedback is appreciated. Freak
  13. Well, hopefully the link I posted and the 11 people that saw it had enough decency to not do such a thing as I wouldn't do it to them. I was just very happy with my purchase and thought I would share. After someone said something in the post I realized that I should have just kept my mouth shut on the subject because you never know what levels people will go to get something that they want. I hope it all works out because like I said, my luck this past year has been crap with the divorce and all, it was a nice find. Hopefully I will be able to get this speaker. I also would give him more money for it if he said something to me, but I will see how things play out. Freak
  14. Nope, I just got excited and should have kept my fat mouth shut until I had it in my hands......I guess we'll see. I'm talking to him via email and I'm going to drive down and pick it up this weekend HOPEFULLY.
  15. For all purposes I took the link out of there so that it doesn't happen that way. I haven't had a lot of luck lately so I felt good about it.
  16. I really am having a hard time believing this but it looks like it was right. Talk about a lucky day. w00t me
  17. Out of curiousity, what would you say a pair of good condition KLF-10's would go for on Ebay? Roughly.
  18. I listened to a nice pair of Boston speakers up at Audio King and have to say that I was VERY inpressed. At the time I was looking at downgrading my system to smaller speakers because I was worried that my virtually MINT Chorus II's were going to get ruined with a little one around. Not to mention things to hit his head on bothered me. In the end the EX talked me into keeping the Chorus II's. My point is that I listened to a set of M60's with a set of VR-MX's running for surround and a vr-mc center channel and I being a Klipsch man was VERY IMPRESSED. I think the one thing that gravitated me towards liking these speakers almost more than my Klipsch was because they were ABSOLUTELY crystal clear. They reminded me of my Chorus II's only in the way that the clarity of them was very similar. Out of all the speakers that I've listed to only Klipsch and Boston's have clear and accurate sound. I'd have to give the edge to Boston for how smooth the music comes through though. While I love Klipsch they have a sound to them like no other and sometimes tend to be a bit bright because of the horns. I think you made a good choice because Boston is a very nice sounding speaker. In the end it's only you that needs to be happy with your purchase. Enjoy.
  19. Try this; http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?query=Klipsch+RS-3II&catref=C3&socolumnlayout=3&sosortproperty=1&lotr=1&from=R10&sacategory=14990&BasicSearch= Your welcome.
  20. I'll tell you what, I have heard a RF-7 set up with complete 7.1 surround and I thought my Chorus II's blew them away. Sorry, I have just had a hard time finding something that can compete with them.
  21. Any opinions on how they would sound as a center matched with a pair of Chorus II's?
  22. I am in the same delema as well and the choice has come down to either I buy a RC-7 that won't timbre match or purchase a Heresy to act as a center. I'm starting to think the Heresy would be a better timbre match with my Chorus II's.
  23. I was sickened because I was bidding on this and said after $500 that was enough. I was shocked at $935 final price....I'll probably end up getting a RC-7 for my set up evetually since these sort of prices are unresonable.
  24. Any opinions on how a pair of KG4's would sound as my surround speaker instead of the RS-3II? They are rated highly my many people that own them but my only concern is that they are a 2 way speaker that intended to be a main speaker instead of a surround. I'm learning as I go. Thanks.
  25. Thanks for the input. When I was listening to my RC-3II's and RS-3II's up at Audio King I asked the guy what would be a good match "sound wise" for my Chorus II's and KG-1's and he recommended these 2 out of the reference series. I will admit that they do sound very good and blend nicely. Yes, the KG'1's are a fine speaker and I bought them because at the time when I bought them the person that sold them to me told me that they would be a good match for eachother and I was under the presumption that it was normal to have larger mains than surrounds at the time. Obviously I was a n00b in this area and if I knew then what I know now, I would have bought some Forte's possibly. It didn't come until later that I was interested in HT and bought my first Center Speaker. I'll look around on Ebay for some KG-2.2's, maybe I can find a decent price on them. Other than my KSW-12 (which is getting replaced next week) I think my HT is pretty nice, at least for my standards.
