  1. We are going to make the Pilgrimage work somehow. Between grandson's graduation and state baseball championship that same weekend. We had something come up at the last minute last year and Judy is still upset over that. Got our dog sitter lined up so we will definitely be there. Graduation is on Saturday afternoon in Russellville but she is determined not to miss anything!

this is just catching up with the most of you.

that stuff has been used for some time down here.  Cams on "telephone" poles.  When I go cutting wood, I always see BorderPatrol and tell them,"If you don't see me come out in a couple hours, come find me, there has been a problem".

If you post it ... the whole world knows.

It really irritated me when the Border Patrol put up a check point several years ago between Alamagordo and Las Cruces. There are at least a dozen cameras on the southbound lane. Many more on the northbound. I just quit going to Las Cruces. Still have to go to New Mexico for work, but stay away from anything within 100 miles of the border.

Buying to learn to play....hopefully. Bass and 6 string are the only stringed instrument I've played. Not so sure about the bow.

Going from electric bass to upright bass is not that difficult. You have to develop a feel for the right tone. Pick it with your fingers and forget the bow. I played electric before I started the upright. Only played Dixieland and dance music on the upright, not classical.

  4. Have you noticed the cameras along the interstate? You are being put into the national facial recognition database. Really pisses me off. Next time you go by a weigh station, look for cameras. Oklahoma is the worse state for this that I have found.

  5. The Ouachitas are nice. Most people think of the Ozarks as the mountains in Arkansas. The Ouachitas start about 40 miles north of Hope. There is some good trout fishing in the tailwaters of Lake Greeson at Murfreesboro in the Little Missouri River. The Walleye fishing is great in northern Arkansas, also. The Ozarks are the oldest mountain range between Appalachia and the Rockies. The Ouachita mountains are much younger and extend into Oklahoma. Growing up in the foothills of the Ozarks was really nice. Lots of public land with the National Forests; Ozark, Ouachita, St. Francis. I always wanted to live back in the mountains as far as I could get, but now that I am older my main concerns are health care. In Arkansas health care sucks except for LR and NWA. Even living in Hope, we had to go to Texarkana (on the Texas side) for decent healthcare. And I was in my twenties then. About 20 years later I was back. Worked in Hope but lived in Prescott. SW Arkansas is a different culture than NW Arkansas or the River Valley. I'll stop the rambling and go back to the news and coffee.

Well when Arkansas do as the Arkansonians do, or if your stuck on an island for a very long time. :o

The true name is Arkansawyers. Damn Yankees changed it to Arkansans. Yes, I am from Johnson County, born and raised. (See statement below)

I deleted the attachment due to the language. If you are interested, go to youtube and search for Hell No, speech. There is another sentence left off this recording.

The name Arkansas came from the tribe of Indians that Marquette and Joliet encountered when they crossed the Mississippi around where Memphis is now. The tribe called themselves the Arkansa. The plural is Arkansas. The original English spelling was Arkansaw. Hence, a person from there should be an Arkansawyer.

Anyone use milk of magnesia on threads?

Dip the bolt threads in it before installation on things that run hot like exhaust manifolds, headers, turbo-jet hot sections.

    Muy bueno

I sell bulk tanker loads of the stuff. For wastewater use, it is called magnesium hydroxide. It has other industrial uses also, but is excellent for for pH control in wastewater systems. Also, the bacteria like it more than any other pH raising chemical on the market.

    Go figure.

  8. Off topic, but whatever happened with Bobby Joe? I used to play a lot of poker at his place and lived next door to him and his wife in '77. Went to a couple of squirrel camps outside of Camden with hum also. My Klipschorns are '77's.

Well then you had/have some of the best roads there are. Even though I'm in the Flatlands around KC Arky is but 3-4 hours away and we are there 2-3 times a year.

There are nice to ride roads all over the state. Even the Ouachita Mountains south of the Arkansas River have some nice roads. I drive in the Ozarks every week as part of my job. Heck, I even get to drive through the mountains of New Mexico every 6 weeks or so. This morning I will be heading from Alma to Heber Springs for the day. I may even stay in Pangburn and get in some fishing on the Little Red River if it isn't up too much because of all the rain we had this week and last.
