  1. So, I checked the NOSValves website and could not find anything on the VRDs? - A different website perhaps? Anyone know? Do these amps come in kit form? - Are there any options such as different wood bases?
  2. Well if he prefers a 1960 El Dorado, I think that about says it all as far as his taste is concerned.
  3. You'll probably have more bass slam, but overall the music will be less intimate and less enjoyable. I'd keep the SET and get a Powered Sub-Woofer instead.
  4. I'd go with Copper Wire. If it's a short run (less than 50 ft.) make sure it's at least 16 gauge. No connector is the best connector! Save your money for a Tube Amp!

I think the Klipsch Forum is a great place to discuss SET, considering you have to use high efficiency speakers to have any hope at all with low-powered amplification. Maybe you're looking for someone to simply accept anything claimed without challenging it? If that's the case, you should visit the I Want To Feel Good About Myself forum. Anarchist: Henderson was a sax player from Ohio, died a few years ago. Kind of a light-hearted cocktail-crowd pleaser. You can hear samples of his recordings on amazon.com and you'll get an idea of whether you'd like his stuff or not. ---------------- I've got a better idea Parrot. - Why don't you just stay out of any SET threads. As soon as Amy wakes up and realizes that Parrot is the common element in every contentious thread, she'll ban him and this will be a better forum.
  6. Well Cut-Throat posted an interesting thread and it was deleted. Great looking Khorns I may add!
  7. "Khorn crossovers are not interchangeable with Belle crossovers, different midrange crossover point." So, If you have a Type "A" crossover in a Belle and you want to use it in a Khorn, are what taps of the Autoformer are you supposed to change? Or is there anything else that you are supposed to change?
  8. "Is it just me or are 15-wks going for awe-inspiring amounts the last week or so? For $800 a pop I might consider desecrating my Shorthorns..." Is it just me or I am the only one who has no clue what you are saying. For $800 a pop I might consider desecrating my Shortbread! And I'll throw in the strawberries for nothing!
  9. There seems to be a number of links on the webpage. Which one has the recording you are referring to? - thanks.
  10. No, I listen to everything in stereo. And that is only why you only need one subwoofer
  11. i recently aquired a pair of Khorns. While I don't have proper corners yet, as I've got to do a remodeling project. None the less, I set up the Khorns. I did have one proper corner which I sealed one Khorn in and merely placed the other freestanding along a wall. Well, they sounded just great, plenty of Bass! I turned the volume down on the one freestanding and sure enough it was a bit bass shy but still sounded great. I then flipped the volume to the one in the corner and all the bass was there. - When playing both Khorns at equal volume, you cannot tell where the Bass is coming from, because the Bass wave is 32 feet long! The Khorns sound fabulous! And here is the Epiphany! - You don't need two proper corners you only need One. This is the same principle as a Subwoofer. Which you can locate basically anywhere in the room and you only need one, because your ears cannot tell where the bass is coming from! So If you've got one good corner, get a pair of Khorns and let the other just free stand along a wall. After all Khorns were mono once also. Would the Khorn sound better with both in corners? Probably. But the Khorns in one corner and one along the wall will absolutely crush a Pair of La Scalas, Belles, Cornwalls.
  12. Yeah I'd say these are worth $3 Grand at least. The days of $1500 Khorns are probably gone, unless they are really beat up or the owner of them has no clue and is desperate. But waiting for a deal like this to come along is risking being without Khorns for a couple years. And you cannot get time back. I'd offer him 3 Grand at least.

  15. Thanks - Do you remember about how much you paid for them?
  16. Anyone know of a source for T2A autoformers? New or used is fine. Thanks.
  17. Thanks! - Yes I have a tail board. And Yes I have the 'Home Plate' Top Section. But the Top Section is above the wall ledge, where the speaker sits in the corner. My ledge is about 40 inches tall and makes a corner than completely covers the Bass Bin. I think I understand now.
  18. I have gotten a pair of Khorns that have the backs sealed all the way to the corner except a slot about 6 inches wide from the floor to the top of the bass cabinet. My question is, I put the Khorns in the corner but the angle of the Khorn Cabinet seems to be about 60-70 degrees. Not 90 degrees! So, how can this possibly seal into the corners? My Khorn cabinet is totally sealed on the edges already. If I put the Grills on the angle of the back of the cabinet, the angle changes to 90 degrees, but the grills are certainly not sealed! So, can someone tell me what I'm missing here?
  19. The Subwoofer has its own amplifier. It can keep up just fine.
  20. Well, Since no one answered my question, I had to answer it myself. I brought the Khorns home, and while they are not in the corners it is a Huge upgrade over the La Scalas! I was using a Subwoofer with the La Scalas and continue to use it with the Khorns. I can now enjoy them, while my basement project for the next 6 months takes place. Then I'll place them in the corners and decide if the subwoofer stays or not. So Bottom Line is get the Khorns, even if you don't have proper corners.
  21. It is a K-48. I called Kipsch Tech Support and they told me that it would give poorer Bass Response, But Handle more power. Klipsch never put the K-48 in Khorns. I'm going to replace them with K-33 Woofers. Yes, I confirmed that the Cap and the inductor is part of the AK-3 Crossover. Thanks!
  22. I am going to replace my AK-3 Crossover with a type "A". I opened up the Bass Bin of the Khorn and found a very large K-48 woofer (All stock) and a large inductor and a very Large Capacitor. I was guessing that the inductor and Cap are part of the AK-3 Crossover, but when I saw that the Woofer was a K-48 instead of a K-33 now I am not so sure. My original plan was just to run the woofer wires to the Type "A" crossover and take out the inductor, Capacitor (which are also hooked to some fuses on the outside panel of the Khorn Door). Has anyone here done this? Am I on the right track?
  23. Craig PS Kev my fuse was kind of short yesterday for some reason. I reread the thread and think I may have taken you out a context a few times..... sorry! It just pisses me off that we can't just have a simple serious conversation about the different topologies. To me the subject is very interesting. Craig has just now discovered that the common element in all of his disfunctional relationships is himself!
