  1. LOL Mike I wish I was there to bug all the fellow Klipschers. [:'(] I will have to make a trip there once,I have to free time next year. Is it me or is your new sub tiny,or is Jay a Big Foot ? []
  2. Psssst Mike is gone to Indy...so we can take control of this thread. [] Like they say kick'em while they are down. []
  3. Any driver with a chrome plated basket is cheesy garbage. Looks like the Audiobahn crap. To anyone making drivers...NEVER use chrome plated baskets. Pure CHEESE! Red,blue, green or black. Chromed is dollar store cheese.
  4. arthurs, Class setup, how do you like your line array mains? I am going to jump to line arrays myself and am thinking about GR Research myself. May I ask how much(you can PM me). Thank you

    Subwoofer?

Stay away from the KSW line,it ranks near the bottom of the proverbial barrel. Sub12 at the least. There are other options that are even better.
  6. He probably was whiskey, burbon and gin. []
  7. All I see is some grey..ish reflection...[]
  8. Like Mike said ~5 amps is what I would consider a safe bet. A nominal power draw here the 3.15 amps may be a little lean,I also doubt the sub will need more than 5 amps even on peaks.
  9. His will use PR's ....nooo really I did not notice.
  10. IndyKlipschFan, You wonder how I look like...have you ever played TwoWorlds ? Have you ever seen the Ogre in TwoWorlds ? This is how I look like. LOL RWNay, Nope that room is tiny 9.5' x 12' and 6.5' celling ! LOL Sad but true Here some of the pro amps to power my subs... That red monster...weighs close to 260lbs...empty cabinet(no driver).~15Hz tune. Eight inch port ...
  11. A sub like the Epik Conquest is made for large Klipsch speakers. Hard to find a better match,it has both true sub extension and massive output. The best choice when going with a non DIY sub.And for the money ...a bargain.
  12. 580lbs of subsonic dynamite. dual LMS-Ultra(5400)/dual AXIS(TC3000) .First of five stacks that will form the front wall. First of a good many pics I will be posting,my HT setup is taking shape. The way I want.
  13. Nacho Camacho, Viva la revolucion ! Viva Fidel !
  14. Ricci, This is superb work ! Curced sides !!! I could do curved sides, but this takes time(all the cuts to make the MDF fold at the desired angle). Bracing can represent most of the work in some cases...
  15. Cabinets are quite easy to make. That is if you have a few basic tools and the space to work. This is one of two for my LMS-Ultra drivers... A router with a jig, cutting bit(1/2" not the 1/4" crap),eight clamps (36" or long enough to clamp the cabinet on its longest side),drill with quality bits, glue are pretty much what is needed.
  16. RF3's are so edgy they make eardrums bleed ...blood ...BLOOD! Any more refined we would have to connect the amp to a chainsaw...BLOOD!!! [] Get some RF7's at least. [8-|]
  17. wsu, Yes dual CSS SDX15's with a EP2500 and eD sub PEQ are what I would take and be happy, matched with very capable speakers. One thing, you must build very inert boxes for them,I would go with a 4.5cu ft box per SDX15. Cabinets you can use MDF or better Baltic birch, even regular quality Columbia birch will do. The front baffle has to be doubled and braces should be dispoed each 8-10 inches. For wiring 12G thick cable or better a 10G should be used. Quality birch ,you do not have to paint, bare MDF looks like complete crap so finishing is a must(less sub be hidden behind a screen in a HT room). I use Dayton's alu plates with the premium binding posts, you can do as well by using the so called Supreme conector plate ~$11 at PE. The box has to be sealed air tight, also.Sealed subs such as these should be placed close to walls for extra reinforcement(extra room gain). PS I will be building the EXACT same subs neext week,Each SDX15 in its 4.5cu ft cabinet. Birch used for cabinet material,I will post pics. Here is how the birch cabinets look,.... The SDX15's...real heavyweighs of build quality and price performance!
  18. Sorry for the late repply... The Velo DLS...stay away, its a punch unit. Anu sub that cannot deliver down deep,is not a sub... a wannabe garbage box. The Paradigm DSP series,at first they so8unded promissing ,nah...again they are optimised for the masses that does know better. Elemental Designs and Epik, this where you get the most for the dollar, and do not have to wait long to get the product. $600-800 you can get great performance and 16Hz output that is not only usable but of worth. Very deep bass extension is of littloe use if the output is too poor. The sealed Dayton from PE,you can get better performance from eD or Epik for the dollar.
  19. The Titanic III in a sealed cabinet, with the very ordinary 1KW Dayton plate amp with best a Sub 12 with little trouble. But you can do alot better under a grand, take two CSS SDX15's (~$500 for two),get a EP2500 power amp (~$300) and the eD sub PEQ ($100) plus ~100 for the MDF. You can build two compact sealed subs ~4cu ft per driver that will leave the Dayton in the proverbial dust. You will have extansion, sound quality and plenty of output.
  20. Superb work,I seriously like the finish !!!
  21. Smoke Quintet lineup,I am quite surte they do,these look more like competition for the Deaf Tech (names modded to protect the guilty..) Myth Os lineup. []
  22. Let me take a guess... Each LMS-5400 18" ~900 ,each of the four PR's $300. Around $3000 for the drivers The cabinet (work and materials) Meterials I estimate at $500-800 and the work $4000-6000 this quality work costs, and the pain job woth it totally. $7500-9800 Worth it [] Output IMPRESSIVE down to a bit below tune. 130dB range
  23. Depends on sub, opposed firing subsdo not vibrate(cabinet),subs like the very compact Sinfire with a PR are the worst case(they do the sub dance when pushed). On most subs you can place a center with no problems,I use rubber pads so the center channel is isolated a bit and does not slide.
