My B&K 150 amp with MOS-fets seems to do OK, especially in the bass range. Would the correct tube sound just blow me away? I would hate to spend $1500 for a subtle difference in sound. Thanks everyone for your response.

There are a few transistor Class-A designs available that will deliver 30 to 50 Watts and tere are several "digital" or enhanced pulse-width-modulation designs that will deliver more than that. Generally all of those approaches will do a decent job on the first Watt. Also, you need clean AC power, generally obtained using a good rf line filter. Leo ---------------------------------------------------------- I have a Parasound P/HP-850 preamp with built in MM phono stage, NAD turntable with Arum Beta S cartridge, Philips 963SA DVD video/SACD player. What amp would you buy to go with these components if your budget where limited to $1500.00?
  3. I like all kinds of music. But what if I wanted to play some classic Black Sabbath loud. Could the Khorns matched with a low powered triode tube amp deliver. I quote a statement from the book, The Life...The Legend Paul Wilbur Klipsch by Paul himself: "What the hell do you need a pentode tube for with a damn Klipschhorn when all you need is a damn triode tube, for godsakes? All you need is one good clean watt!"
  4. What is the less expensive way to achieve "one clean watt" to drive the Klipschorn? Put another way. Can anyone recommend a good new inexpensive triode amp?

  6. www.Ebay.com Search for klipsch forte.
  7. My Forte 2's are bass monsters in my small 11 by 15 room without a sub. I here well defined bass not sloppy bass with DVD movies and stereo playback. The bass response depends mostly on the quality of the recording. Buy a good sound check CD. Forte's love high current solid state. www.audioadvisor.com can help you with your amp choice.
  8. I have a B&K pre and power system with remote tone controls. I like tone controls because they give me more controll over bad recordings and there are more bad recordings than good ones. Simply turn up the bass on your system.

Pardon my ignorance.

  11. I have my Forte's raised 6 inches to raise the treble and midrange drivers at equel height center of my TV screen. It makes the voices sound like they are coming from the screen, not under the screen. I think the same applies for music listening. Experiment with different heights to see what works best for the stereo image. I think you would want the treble slightly higher than seated ear level, angled in some, but not directly at you. I made my stands from 1" by 6" oak lumber purchased at Home Depot.

Which of their early works do you guys think were the best? ---------------- GET YOUR WINGS was the best ever and JOE PERRY did not play guitar while recording it. HE SUCKS
  13. I will be seeing the Allman Brothers in concert at the Fabulous Fox Theatre Sep. 25, 2004. Warren and Derek will perform with them. Warren and Derek are very good guitar players but they are better at remaking classic songs than they are at writing there own songs IMO. I wish they would remake some classic DARKTHRONE,IMMORTAL,EMPEROR. HA HA HA! Gov't Mule will release the new album Deja Voodoo Sept. 14. Maybe it will be goosebump material.
  14. The best looking and performing stereo rack is a simple concrete bench. The concrete is very dense and heavy which resonates far far less. There are many styles to choose from.
  15. I love the B&K remote. It controlls bass, treble, balance, etc. to get your sound perfect while seated.
  16. As Wolves Among Sheep, We Have Wandered. DARKTHRONE
  17. IMMORTAL, Sons of Northern Darkness EMPEROR, Anthems To The Welkin at Dusk, IX Eqeilibrium I play these over and over and never get tired of them.
  18. PHILLIPS 963SA 239.99 @ B&H PRO AUDIO. Go to AUDIOREVIEW.COM and read reviews. Visit AMUSICDIRECT.COM and read important info about this player.
  19. They will sound good with most any amp as long as the amp has bass and treble controls.
  20. Name a brand new speaker selling for 1000.00 that sounds as good and dynamic as the Forte 2. You might find a new Klipsch speaker that sounds close but still not on par with the Forte's bass response and build quality. Mine are finished in dark walnut. Kiss my Forte's butt.
  21. The Forte 2 speaker is worth every penny. I would not take less for my pair. I could get 1000.00 easy, but I am not selling.
