Not sure about the code (I'll check tonight), but the magnets are definitely rectangular. PS - I can't put them on the floor since they're my new shop speakers, but I can possibly put them in the corners up high on shelves on the short wall. My shop is approx. 12x24.

Pretty sure he did it correctly, but I will double check tonight... Just curious, can I run both the squawker AND the tweeter off of tap 1? And yeah, they have new caps and I've got them both on solid shelves right up against a wall. I may try them in the corners, as well...

Actually, the speakers in question are Heresy's I bought from a forum member and they already have the mods as shown in the first schematic. I like them, but I think they're *still* a little too bright! I guess I'm just used to the bottom end slam of my '86 Forte's upstairs... I think I will try the mods as shown in the second schematic, and possibly even drop the tweeter taps down one more step... Of course I realize that Heresy's will never produce true deep bass, but I think that toning down the highs a bit more will help get them closer to what my ears want to hear.

Compared to the stock Type E configuration, the squawker's lead was moved from from tap 2 to tap 1 and the tweeter from tap 3 to tap 2 in both cases. I assume this will decrease the output of both by 3dB, but I'm mostly just curious if one configuration is preferred over the other since I'm using a tube amp (Scott LK-48B).

Reading some old posts on how to tame the tweeter and squawker on older heresies... and I came across these two networks. What's the difference?

Well, the Fisher speakers aren't really fishers anymore... when I got them, the drivers were all shot so I replaced them (and the crossovers) with cheapies from parts express. They sound pretty good, but they're no Klipsch. And speaking of Marantz, I've also got a 2245 with bias problems... Is Tuned4Life a tech?

Hmm... A pair of those would only be a tad too large...

Hmmm... the KSB1.1 is TINY! The rebuilt Fishers I'm running are three way with a 10" woofer - did Klipsch ever build any smaller three-ways with a 10" woofer? I just want something comparable in size since the Fishers fit well on my shelves. On second thought, maybe I *can* shoehorn a pair of Heresy's in there...[]

Hey all, I'm relatively new here and to the world of Klipsch speakers. Got a pair of Forte I's upstairs driven by a Marantz 2270 and just last night I got my recent pawn shop score up and running - a Scott LK-48B (with a little help from Craig - thanks Craig!!!). I'm currently driving a pair of old Fisher bookshelf speakers that I put new drivers and crossovers in. They sound good, but I want Klipsch! So, what's a good bookshelf speaker with the heritage sound? I'd love to go Heresy but I think they're a bit too big...

Hey all, here's my current setup: Marantz 2270 (with remote power on/off and volume control, [] ) with 1986 Forte mains. I recently won an academy off ebay and I've got a Vantas DPA-S50 for center and surround amplification (although I'm not running surrounds yet). It's a 5.1 surround processor with three 100W amps inside. It tracks the voltage in the speaker wires produced by the receiver (to the mains) and adjusts the level of juice to send to the center and surrounds. Pretty curious beast, it is. If you're curious why I bother with this instead of going with a fancy new HT receiver, well, this system is mostly for 2-channel music, and I love my old Marantz! Anyway, let me get to the question already. I know the academy is -3dB down at 65Hz. Should I be running a high pass filter inline with it to avoid damage to the drivers from low frequencies? Thanks! Ditto! Just won a Dynaco Stereo 70 off ebay. Won't be powering Klipschs, though. It's for my basement system with a PAT4 pre (SS) and Dynaco A-25's.

It's a Sound City 200 Plus. 200W, four kt88's. I've got two of 'em. One I converted into a Hiwatt 200 clone and the other needs work... Rob Actually, now that I think about it, they'd make a great pair of 200 watt monoblocks. []

As a point of reference, I just recently picked up a pair of really nice 1986 Forte I's (not II's) off ebay for $400, WITH original boxes!

Hey all, Just recently purchased a pair of early Forte's to run off of my Marantz 2270 - they sound incredible! This is my first pair of REAL speakers... Now I want more klipsch's! The serial numbers are: 8639799 and 8639800 After doing some digging through the forums here, it looks like the serial number format should me YY - WW - XXXX where the first four numbers are year and week, and then four numbers after that. Mine only have three numbers at the end - are they just really early ones? Also, they don't have the klipsch logos on the front and look like they never have - what's up with that? Thanks! Rob

Hey all, I inherited a pair of old Fisher XP-6 speakers recently. The speakers are trashed, but the cabinets are quite nice - too nice to toss! What would be a decent set of speakers to load these things with? Each one has a 10" woofer, 4.5" mid, and a 3x3 domed tweeter in a sealed cabinet with an internal volume of around 1.1 cubic feet. Eminence? Which ones and where to get 'em? I've got WinISD loaded on my computer and I've been playing with different drivers all day...
