  1. Those in the UFC are highly trained fighters who learn a host of different fighting skills and also need to develop great endurance and strength, who basically spend almost every day training and honing their skills.   They have to learn to defend themselves against wrestling, boxing, Thai fighting, Ju-jitsu and Judo to name a few.  The only thing they may have in common with a bar fighter is a certain inclination for combat and perhaps a desire to have a beer every once in awhile.

  2. Oh, I can beat that....  I think I went 12/15 months with one riding around in the back of my car....I hadn't even taken it indoors.

Today, it's sitting in a closet.

Didn't I read you saying that you powered your mains with a couple of K2's?

I had a similar issue with a power amp and adding  a cheater plug also stopped the hum. Through some reading I bought the above power cord that I plugged the cheater plug into for some added safety.   For those in the know does this not make the ungrounded amp safe from possible shocks.g

    Nope.

Lol, your answer was a bit terse.  Care to elaborate.  If there is a short of some kind in the amp that could cause a shock, would that not trip the circuit breaker in the power cord and cut the power.

  5. According to this guy, who has tons of vids on those from other worlds,  the ET's have no interest in the things or peoples  of our world, and earth has been put under quarantine from other races because it is such a dangerous and unwelcoming place to visit.

  6. One of the easy visual cues to help in determining versions when looking at pics of the Epic line is whether or not you can see the wood through the port.

When viewing a typical downward shot without the grill, if you can see the wood it is the shorter port and so version 2 or 3. If you can't see the wood as in the pair above, it is the longer port. For me that is a quick way to narrow it down, along with the grayish drivers and horn. ON version 3 the drivers and horn were black as well.

  7. Looks like one is mid 94 and the other late 95. Weird. Some dealer did a crappy job with inventory rotation. Or Klipsch did. Could be a mismatch

Yeah, I noticed that afterwards. That is a bit troubling, as they could be mismatched versions.  If he were near me, i would offer him money for just the one from 94 to use as a center channel.

Epic CF3's on Ebay, pick up only in Connecticut.  These are version 1's.

How did you figure that out?  There were no pics of the drivers and I didn't see any S/N's listed.

If those are v1's and end up selling anywhere close to the $299 mark somebody will have gotten a great deal.

Arrow through the pics, the s/n's are there.

  9. I'll chime in as well.  Over 12 years now with my Epic CF3's version 1's.  Though hearing a great many speakers over the years, there is still no desire to replace them. Before these I had speakers from a company called Audio Physic, their Tempo lll's.  They had a claimed frequency response of 35hz to 40khz.  Extended highs to be sure.  They were a beautiful speaker design covered in cherry wood, and the company's credo was "No loss of fine detail". One of their great qualities was that they would disappear in the room when playing, which was one the things that made me want to buy them and had them for about 2 years or so.  But I wanted to try horns and bought the Epics having never heard them. Bought them on Audiogon for $650. They were shipped from Minnesota to me in  California without trouble. I loved them from the moment I put them in their place and sold  the Tempos soon after.  Wonderfully full bodied at lower night time listening and rock and roll slam when cranked up. The speakers have a lot of bass and to my pleasant surprise the Epics also disappear in my room pretty well too. With eyes closed, I hear music in space without the Epics calling attention to themselves.   Contrary to others here, I have never found them to be bright and found the highs if anything, to be slightly rolled off, perhaps because of its 2 way design. I also love the large sound field the big horn centered between the drivers produce. A Big bold voice on these.   My only complaint is that the sound field can be low at times because of the height of the horn and contemplate elevating them. My visit to the Newport Audio Show this year brought that home again.  I listened to many great speakers there and noticed the height of the presentation compared to the Epics.   The reason I have hesitated doing so is because of the sheer size of them as they are and not wanting to create a more imposing profile in the room.   Perhaps, if I find an ideal stand, I may do so. Here is a pic as they stand with a C-7 for a center.  one day I will get another Epic for center duty as others have done.   Grills off just for show.  The screen is 9ft wide for reference.
