  1. Hi, everyone, I got a new pair of RF-7s about a month ago. They sustained some damage in shipping. At first, I thought all of the damage was cosmetic. I've had a hard time trying to balance these speakers. I just noticed that one of the 10" woofers (the bottom one) in one speaker is dead. I can't hear anything coming out of it. Are you supposed to hear the identical thing coming out of both woofers in one speaker? In the speaker where I can hear something coming out of both woofers, the music coming out of the bottom woofer is not as loud as the music coming out of the top woofer. Thanks,
  2. Hi, all, I just got some new RF-7s. They were delivered by UPS with multiple dents and scratches on the cabinets. Is there any way to repair and refinish the cabinets? These are the cherry finish. I'm going to make a claim with UPS. I'm wondering how much I should claim if I don't claim an entire replacement. Thanks,
  3. I got my HW 16.5 about a year ago. I don't know what I was doing without it. Later,
  4. Hi, I listen to vinyl only. I have a TNT 3.5, JMW 12.5, Dynavector Karat 17D2, Dynavector P-75, Adcom GFP-565 pre, and Monitor Audio Silver Studio 8is. All of this used to be powered by an Adcom GFA-555II. It didn't sound too bad at all. But the 555II kept blowing out my speakers and sounded a little screechy at high levels. Then I got Bottlehead Parabee 300B SE tubes amps about a year ago. I will never go back to solid state. The sound is like real maple syrup htting the butter on top of a stack of pancakes. Even though the Monitor Audios are only 90 dB sensitive, the sound fills my room. The bass really impresses me. I'd always heard before that tube amps give weak bass, but when I spin the Level 42, the bass is thumping like a gay disco. Still, there are times when I want to go to "eleven". I'm looking for some RF-7s. Then I'll never leave my apartment. Or at least never buy any more audio gear. Later,
  5. How does this affect turntables and tonearms? Thanks,
  6. Hi, Leo, This is fascinating. I'll have to try the 4 ohm taps when I get some Klipsches. Thanks,
  7. Thanks! This is fascinating. I also have tube amps. I have the Bottlehead Parabee 300B SE tube monoblocks. This was a DIY kit. I did notice that there were three different soldering options for 4, 8, and 16 ohms. My speakers are 8 ohms, so that's what I used. What would be the difference in performance between the 8 ohm and 4 ohm settings? If this is too basic a question for this forum, can you give me a link to a Web site that explains this? Thanks,
  8. Hi, all, Thanks for all of your excellent advice. I'm thinking af getting RF-7s, just because they're available. I can't find any Chorus IIs in my area. leok, why do you run your speakers at 4 ohms? Aren't these speakers 8 ohms? Thanks,
  9. Thanks, all! I have Monitor Audio Silver Studio 8is right now. They sound good, but at only 90 dB/W/m, they're not loud enough. I need to go "one louder". Thanks,
  10. Hi, I've been thinking about getting Klipsches for a while. I'm considering a used pair of Chorus IIs or a new pair of RF-7s. The RF-7s would cost about $1,000 more than the Chorus IIs. Of course, the Chorus IIs are used, and I have no way of listening to them before purchasing. I listen to only vinyl records, and I like a lush sound. I have 300B SE tube amps. How do the sounds of the Chorus II and RF-7 compare? What other factors should I consider? Thanks and Happy New Year,
  11. Thanks! Do you have your Heresys on stands? They seem kind of small to put on the floor. Thanks,
  12. I haven't heard the Ruby. I have the Dynavector Karat 17D2 Mk. II. It's awesome. If you're interested, I can put you in touch with someone who can probably get you one for less than MSRP. Thanks,
  13. Hi, all, Is this a good deal http://seattle.craigslist.org/ele/51416719.html? It's in my area, so I wouldn't have to pay shipping. I've read in other postings in this forum that the original Heresys went through some manufacturing changes during their run. Would these from 1978 sound more bright like the original Heresy, or smoother like the Heresy II? Thanks,
  14. Thanks! I just posted another topic on Chorus I vs. II http://forums.klipsch.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=57337&sessionID={D002557D-469F-40E4-BCFF-AD35043A52A6}. Do you think the Is without the passives would sound tighter in the bass than the IIs? Are the few extra Hz deeper bass in the IIs noticeable? Thanks,
  15. Hi, all, I've been looking for Chorus IIs for a while. I have a lead on a pair of Chorus Is in good condition. What are the differences between the Chorus I and II? I see that they're both 101 dB/W/m, but the Chorus II goes a little deeper in the bass. Here's my current system: TNT VPI 3.5 turntable JMW 12.5 tonearm Dynavector Karat 17D2 cartridge Dynavector P-75 phono stage Marantz 3300 preamp Bottlehead Parabees 300B SET amps Monitor Audio Silver Studio 8i I listen to all kinds of music, all on vinyl. I like a system that tends toward a lush sound. I've never heard the Chorus I or II. But I know I need way more sensitivity than the 90 dB/W/m I get from the Monitor Audios. Thanks,
  16. Thanks! What does the passive radiator do? Thanks,
  17. Thanks! Do you think this is a good price? http://cls.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?spkrfull&1106323378 Thanks,
  18. Hi, all, Happy Thanksgiving. I've been looking for a pair of Chorus IIs for a while. I saw these on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=5732683126&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT What do you think of the damage on the passives? The seller says that he used a rubber compound to repair them. Should I bid on them? Thanks,
  19. Hi, Are these speakers still available? Thanks,
  20. Thanks! I found a listing on Audiogon for Cornwall IIs. But they're in Chicago, and the owner won't ship. Do the Cornwalls give more bass than the La Scalas? Thanks,
  21. Thanks! I didn't know that they were in the Classic line. Were they in the Heritage line before they were discontinued? I see that the Cornwall II is double the efficiency of the Cornwall. I have single-ended 300B tube amps. What are the differences in sound between the Cornwall and Cornwall II? Thanks,

  23. Hi, all, I'm thinking about getting some Heritage speakers for my hi-fi. The advice I'm getting points to La Scala or Cornwall. I've seen some used ones on Internet sites like ebay. But these speakers must cost as much in shipping as their listed prices. What are the suggested retail prices for these speakers? Maybe I can find a dealer that offers free delivery. Thanks,
  24. Hi, all, I'm looking for some high efficiency speakers for my hi-fi (no home theater, only audio). Here's my original post on the subject in the General section http://forums.klipsch.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=56403&sessionID={D36DB0A0-5ECE-4163-AAFE-6D5798683EC2}. From the replies, I'm thinking about the Cornwalls. What are the specs for the Cornwall and Cornwall II? Thanks,
