ok as most here know i just ordered and payed for a clear audio level 2 champ, my initial thoughts were to get a rega 300 and upgrade the wires and weight but i have found a reasonable price on a couple other arms at least they seem reasonable i found a sme 3009 complete fixed headshell for 300.00, or a moth oem 2 with wire upgrade 450.00, or an adc straight wand for 200 any insight on these would be helpful thanks Joe

im not sure what your friends are talking about with the retreads on a ferarie but i was using a rega 300 with incognito upgrade on the basis 1400 and i was very happy with the results, i plan to get a upgraded rega 300 with the mitchell weight and wire upgrade and use that as a temporary set up till i can find a nicer arm at a price i can afford, after saving some dough.............. i have read several reviews that praise the rega as a giant killer when upgraded at any rate i have to move in BABY STEPS money is short after a couple large buys Joe

frzninvt, the table definately makes a differance in the sound reproduction, im not into all the terminology this way and that but i know what i hear and when i went from my dual 5000, and thorens 160, to my basis 1400 i was hearing details i never heard b-4 in albums i thought i knew!!!!!!!!! maybe the fact that you are freezin in vermont has affected your hearing, move a little south and let those ears thaw out MAN!!!!!!!!! mark initial arm and cart use will be a rega 300 and a denon 103 lomc. arm upgrade will take me a while i will have to save some money up.......... well after alot of searching the internet and my soul i decided on a clearaudio champion level 2, that was setting in florida and had been on a-gon for a couple weeks it is the clear version, sellere was asking 2295 but we came to terms at 2100 all in, i will still need an arm , sellers feedback is low at only 9 but he ouns a audio business in fla and has a web site. his web site looks nice and has some decent prices i would say. i was tossing around the idea of a thorens, teres, opera 2.0, or the clearaudio level 2, in the end i decided against the teres for only 1 reason i had noticed the wood bases were made up of pieces of wood glued togeather (not that it is bad just on a couple models i could see the joints) and i worry about with differant weather conditions humidity etc... the glue becomming a problem at some point., the opera 2.0 looks very nice and has rave reviews but it only weighs in at 30 pounds according to the web site and in my mind that makes it susseptable to vibration, as far as thorens goes that is what i moved up from when i bought my basis 1400 and didnt want to go backwards, so the level 2 was the winner all paid for and awaiting confirmation of shipping which happen by friday, so lets hope this one is a done deal although i am 99 percent sure this guy is on the level my initial plan is to get a rega 250 or 300 upgrade it with incognito wire and the mitchell techno weight, and to use my denon 103 cart till funds roll in, this table and our new tv (37" lcd) have put me in the broke column here is the sellers web address if anyone wants to give it a look http://www.lettherebesound.com/ again thanks for all the support here i do appreciate it Joe

i cant beleive it either i think he got an offer for a couple dollars more and blew me off after accepting my payment, i initially contacted him and offered 1800 when he first listed the table for 2100, he said he had a offer of 1900 and had to give the guy the first shot at it he then came back same day and sid would take the 1800, the next day he recanted again so i informed him i dont make deals with people that flounder back and forth and that i had read his feedback on gon and saw a history of this type behavior, 4 days later he emails me back saying he hates that also and that a lot of people were doing just that to him on the table so he would accept my 1800, the rest is history of course i am attempting to leave neg feedback to warn other buyers of his actions im still looking Joe

well im back from work straighgt thru thursday to monday with 30.5 hours overtime, man im tired, i bought the table referanced teres 255 with vta for 1800.00, after a long discussion back and forth with the seller about his prior feedback about renegging on deals and floundering with me initially he agreed to sell after he said he was fed up with people questioning him and agreeing to buy then falling thru. so i sent the money thru pay-pal with the request he ship as soon as possiable, this was on the 18th, im at work and hear from the wife i have an email from pay-pal about a refund on the 19th and the reason given is he supposedly cracked the arm board when preping for shipment, (BULLS##T) anyway make a pita story short im looking again, not to worry though i am speaking with chris about a few demo units he has at good prices now available will update when i get one in the house Joe

well i was finally able to upgrade the table i pulled the trigger on a bubbinga teres 255 with acrylic and lead shot platter with the vta adjuster and bubbinga clamp, sure hope these sound as good as the reviews imply they do, now all i need is a rich uncle to buy me a tonearm and i will be set, of course if anyone on here wants to donate a arm i wont argue, seriously if anyone has a decent arm they are looking to sell i am open to ideas thanks a ton colonial ho Joe

i have a basis 1400 with a rega 300 upgraded with incognito wires, it is the clear version in excellent shape no scratches etc i have the original boxes with it also i will let go for 900.00 to anyone on the forum, i also have a nakamichi rx 505 in excellent shape looks like new and works great also i bought it from a refurbisher 1 year ago i paid 460.00 for it the only flaw if you want to call it one is a noise it maskes when you stop a tape its not a mechanical noise rather a squek almost like a new rubber wheel would make against a metal part, everything works as new i have recorded with it and played several tapes, i will include as many blank tapes as the buyer may want free up to 20 but i have 100 available for a great deal if want all, the deck and 20 tapes 350.00 to anyone on the forum lastly i have a teac X-1000R reel to reel, i also bought this last year from a refurbisher on ebay a guy in potomac md. i paid 500.00 for this when all in including the 10 inch reel and nab adapters it works great also and i have recorded and played several tapes on it the only flaw i have found with this is a kind of static sound when tape is played now i am no expert on these reel to reel and as far as i know the static could be part of the tape itself at any rate i wanted to disclose any problems i know of no matter how small i will include the 10 inch metal take up reel and a couple new 7 inch reels of tape. 425.00 to any forum member i can forward pics via e-mail i cannot get pics to load up on this new forum setup, i will pay the shipping up to 25.00 to any forum member also included in the prices listed or i will give a 25.00 off for local pick up, again i can take credit cards thru pay-pal and i will ship quickly insured thru ups ground thanks and if you are interested just shoot me an email i will answer ???? as quick as possiable Joe

i was able to quit my coffee habit out of necessity, i still dont know what the whole deal was but i began to have a breathing problem and for whatever reason when ii would have coffee it seemed to get worse so i ask myself whats more important coffee or breathing, maybe you could try to convince yoursself it is making you feel bad (HA HA HA) i still crave coffe3e often and its been 3 years now i quit Joe

well i am having reservations after talking with the seller again seems he doesnt have the table , it belongs to a man that wants to trade it in to him for an origin table he wants me to pay him the cash and send my table , after my table arrives he will deliver the origin table the guy wants and then box up the clearaudio and send it to me, sounds like a recipe for a problem......... the guy has excellent feedback on the a-gon, and i have his phone# and home address in nova scotia im seriously considering letting this one go by as it seems there are just to many if's anyone had any experiance with broklynaudio on a-gon?????????? well i just got off the phone with the guy and with my credit card company and looks like i am pulling the trigger on the clearaudio chaampion level 2 with origin live silver arm, they took my basis in on trade and gave a reasonable price for it i was able to keep both my cartridges this should be interesting. the basis soundes great but the bug was just working on me too much to let a decent deal on this combo go by, my table plus 1600 and that includes shipping, so what do you guys think is this a good deal or what, according to a-gon the average used sale price is 2650 with the rega arm, and new is 3500 with no arm. looking at a clearaudio champ level 2 with a rega arm, but have the option of upgrading the arm to a origin live silver for an extra 400.00 anyone know about this arm and if it is worth the extra 400 i will initially be using a denon 103 lomc for a cart but may upgrade to a shelter 901 later would thids arm be suitable for the combo thanks Joe
