  1. I have a fairly long living room in my apartmnet and was thinking of putting up a curtain to separate some room for a "dining room". If I do this my TV, fronts, center, and sub will all be in front of the curtain. I know that the RF-35's have a rear firing port in the back that would face right at the curtain. Am I going to loose a lot of sound not having any reflection off of a front wall?
  2. Do any of you subscribe to an A/V or audio magazine? I want to get one, but don't know which is the best.
  3. I had no idea that this post would take off like this. Now I have to worry about the neighbors complaining about all of noise coming out of my newly acquired speakers. Do you guys have any horror stories about crabby neighbors in apartments mixed with Klipsch speakers??
  4. I just bought the same speaker setup (no receiver) and I bargained for 20% off retail and it came to $2242 after tax. So, it sounds like you are getting 20% off. That is pretty standard around here, but I know that people have been able to get more.
  5. dragonfyr, Thanks for your complete, emotion filled response. My fiance has had a siamese cat her whole life living with her parents and that's why she was so set on getting one. She talks about the personality of her cat at home all of the time.
  6. There is no dog right now. We both know that we won't be around enough to have a dog.
  7. I remember reading posts a while back about some RC-35's having a factory defect that made them sound muffled. You may have gotten one of those speakers. You may want to look into trying another RC-35 before you spend the extra cash on the RC-7. Although, I'm sure that that RC-7 will be much better in the long run. I have the RC-35 and have not noticed any muffling effects.
  8. Well, its a little assuring that most people do not have problems with the cat touching the speakers. I like the ginger root idea and I will give it a try. I really want to keep the grills off becuase I love looking at those gold reference cones! I will give you guys an update after we've had the cat for a few months. Thanks for all of your input!
  9. Even your bathroom is worthy of more than Bo$e. You use the bathroom too often. How 'bout the guest bedroom where you put the relatives that you don't like....
  10. Thanks for all of the tips. We do not have the cat yet, coulter, so i don't know what the behavior is. But I would like to think about preventing any problems before they occur. Thanks for all the help!
  11. I will be getting hitched on 5-21-05 and the wife to be wanted a siamese kitten as her wedding present. Of course my concern is how to keep the cat away from my RF-35's (no grills) and all of the wires and such behind the TV and receiver. We are moving in in June after the honeymoon. I want to stop this problem before it starts! Suggestions please! P.S. I know that many of you will tell me to kill the cat, but you can take that off the list of options. I'm a dog person, but I got the stereo and she got the cat....
  12. From what I understand, if you have a good sub (like the RW-12) then all of your speakers should be set to "SMALL". This way, the sub will take over most of the low end stuff, which is what it is made to do. Good Luck!
  13. Where are the wires for your surrounds hidden?
  14. That was my initial thought for the TV and RF's (although I didn't know that it was better to have the RF's so far apart), but do you think that putting the RS'35's on the side walls is a good idea? They will each be 12 feet away from the idea listening position, is that too far? Thanks for the quick reply and keep 'em coming!
  15. I am going to be moving into the apartment below in May. I have a Sony 55" Grad Wega LCD Projection (58" Wide x20" Deep) and the RF-35, RC-35, RS-35, RW-12 surround system. Please ignore the furniture in the picture, as this is just the drawing from the rental companies' website. The ceiling is just a standard ceiling, not a cathedral (10' I think). I am going to have the TV on a stand with my RC-35 below wtih the receiver, dvd..etc. My main concern is where to put the TV and the RS-35's and how to hide the wire since I will not be able to drill into the walls too much. If anybody has the time time to place some boxes to represent the components, that would be great! Now all that I have to worry about is the neighbors complaining about the noise! I guess I'll just put some popcorn in the microwave and invite them in. Thanks for all of your help!
  16. Just to let you know, the RC-35 comes with a little threaded post that screws into the bottom of the speaker. This allows you to put the speaker under the TV and then aim it up towards the listening position. There is also another hole for the post on the bottom that allows you to put the speaker above the TV and angle it down. It sounds to me like your best bet would be to remove that glass and put the speaker under the TV (or just open the glass when you are watching it). Next, if you go with the RS-35's they are a little more forgiving as far as placement goes (as opposed to RB-35's), but you should still try to stick as close to the location that was discussed above. Hope this helps!
  17. Out of curiousity, how come you have the grill off the center channel, but not the floorstanders?
  18. Rayo, I just purchased the same TV for my HT, and now I need a stand. Are those RF-35's and and RC-35 that I see in your pic? If so, where did you get those shelving units?
  19. If you are going to hold off on buying the sub, I'd wait a little longer and get the RSW-12 instead of the RW-12.
  20. If you are going to be buying these piece by piece, why not upgrade a each piece. For a little more you could get two RF-35's to start. Those will rock much harder for music than the RB-25's. I was able to listen to them side by side and there is no comparision. The RF-35's will be a little deeper too so you can hold out longer for the sub. I agree about putting the 5.1 system together first, then adding a sub. It will sound ok without the sub (being Klipsch speakers and all), but once you get the sub, turn the speakers to "small" on the receiver and let the sub do the rest. You will not be dissapointed.
  21. Share a little more info: length, width, and height of room primary listining position in the room describe windows and openings. If the room "opens" into other rooms describe. with this, help is on the way. The room is 12' x 24' x 10' (Not so sure about the height). The primary listening position will be about 8-10 feet from the TV/Wall/Front Speakers. There are windows on the side (will be the left or right side of the listener). It is basically a LONG room and the back part of it will be used for a small eating area. This part opens off to the side into the kitchen.
  22. I just purchased an 5.1 RF-35 system as well as a Sony Grand Wega 55" LCD projection (the TV is a wedding present). I will not be able to set this system up for a while but had some questions about the best place to put some of the speakers. Are the floorstanders supposed to go right next to the TV or are they better off being as far away as possible (in the corners of the room)? Also, should the RS-35's be behind me (in the prime sitting position), or a little behind and off to the sides?
  23. Correction, I only have one RC-35. I accidently put RC-35's in my post
  24. What I've learned on this forum is that you should only go with a bookshelf type speaker if you are able to point them directly at the "sweet spot" at the correct height. If you are going to have people sitting all over the room, you may want to get the RS-35's so everyone can enjoy the surround, not just the person in the middle of the room (unless that is you, of course). I just purchased the RF-35's, RC-35's and RS-35's. I chose the RS's because I am going to be moving a couple of times in the near future and want to have more flexibility in where i can put them. What kind of deal did you get on your RC-35 and RF's if you don't mind me asking? I was able to find an authorized dealer near me (Brighton, Michigan) that would go 20% off when all the rest were only offering 5-15%. I read a lot of posts about people saying that you shouldn't settle for less than 20% off retail. Have fun with your new system!
