these mercurys are some of if not the finest recordings and records ever made period many people will want to argue about this subject i say let them argue till the cows come home they are so good that they are being reissued on the sacd type format some people will say that the sacd is what is making them special well all i can point out is the sacds are being made from the same tapes from the 1950s 1960s other record companies have made good sounding records but none of them come close to mercury and rca during the golden years these are always very good performances at the least a time we will never see again no matter what the spin doctors and flavor of the month crowd say joe

have it looked at by a qualified person with a microscope you can send it to shure for inspection if you dont have anyone near you ive done this with shures and grados takes a little turn around time but they didnt charge me anything and you will have the expert advice you need buy a cheap cartridge for back up its always good to have at least two anyway joe

http://www.srslabs.com/ProAudio_ProdHardware.asp this company makes good stuff i remember their first box about 10 years ago it was a hughes electronics design for the military this company got the technology from hughes ken pohlmann loved it it really is amazing even with just one mono speaker everything happens in the digital world so there is no noise that can really be measured because of what it does and how it does it they sold it for a while to the public but gave up parts of this circuit are in many many stereo tvs and other things made today it makes music and voices more hearable i wrote the company in the 1990s and got a nice letter and their spec sheets no noise with that unit none that could be measured anyway at one time only the military had access to this mostly for use in fighter planes joe

ev speakers did not sell very well because they were expensive and not a lot of people had heard of them they did not advertise very much companies like kenwood and pioneer had a lot of big boxes filled with cheap made drivers for sale some of the old pioneers were good but only a few very expensive models evs dealer network was small they did not advertise much in magazines like sony and pioneer a lot of people buy speakers by what their eyes and what other people tell them instead of with what their ears tell them the eq boxes for the biggest ev was not to make up for a design flaw or choice it was to make up for flaws in the customers room it was an option piece and was not always needed it was not like the bose 901 box at all except that both were speakers for home use thank you for the pictures that was the line that mine came from mine were the large monitor type not the giant floorstander no one i knew that ever heard them had anything bad to say about them joe

the store where i first heard dbx boxes sold a lot of brands the stereo that had the dbx was a linn record player with a mcintosh amplifier and mcintosh controller and the best ev speakers the kind of ev speakers they had are not for sale anymore they tried to make speakers for home use for a while after the 1950s but nobody seemed to know who ev was thats what i am trying to say to you but you only seem to want to fight people my klipsch horns have ev speakers inside them see what i am trying to get you to understand you sound so miserable maybe i should not call you a litte girl i am sorry i did that i am starting to think that maybe you should think about going to church it will make you feel better i promise you that much joe

in the late 70s early 80s about the time mo-fi got going i bought a pair of ev speakers from a dealer that sold dbx dbx was fairly new then at least to me he showed the dbx unit using mo-fis and the best stuff he had in the shop the first time i heard dbx on a record was mo-fis version of abby road wooooow what a difference it made much clearer it made the music stand out i could not imagine how that record could sound any better but it did he also showed it with a record that had lots of ticks and noise with the dbx turned on you would hear almost no noise it also made worn out records sound cleaner and more natural i was sold i think anyone should be able to see why leading electronic makers would not promote using dbx no matter how good dbx is it would be like saying our stuff is ok but to make it better you will need to buy this no customer ever wants to hear this it would make it very hard to convince a lot of people that they were making a good choice to begin with that is a simple matter of fact in the capitalist system russ keeps talking about mo-fi made some of the very best sounding records ever and a lot of people know about them but they still went bankrupt just because a lot of people dont know about something doesnt mean anything lots of good restaurants go out of business every day but macdonalds is still around what you say does not make any sense at all how many expensive ads you can buy will often make the difference if you make it or not it usually has little to do with how good your mouse trap is i do not want to make any body upset or sound mean but i have to say that russ talks to people like a very angry ugly talking little girl this is just my view joe

Hammond 272BZ25 115 volts 25 cycles 8 6 V.A. This is from late 1940s early 1950s it is very very clean looks almost like new can't remember why I have it wires are in nice shape think it got used a little with some project many moons ago Make me an offer Joe
