  1. With a 19", I would have to use a higher res than 800X600. I have a 17" and at the moment, I have mine set to 1152X864. I used to have it set to 1280X1024 but there is a flicker that started to bother me recently. I cant even imagind you ahving it set to 800X600. Try it at 1280X1024 and see if there is still the problem. 800X600.. havn't used that in years.
  2. That sound on power up is perfectly normal. It is actually a good thing. Does the same on most monitors now-a-days What happens is that when you power up, the power to the monitor is not full-blown turned on, it is gradually increased to full power inorder protect the monitor. That is the buzzing noise ya hear. As for the geometry problem of your monitor, Baz, make sure you have the proper drivers installed for your monitor and try at higher resolution and see if it continues. Hope you get your problem solved.
  3. I have not tried double sats at each location but I have always believed that one sound source per location is enough to create sound. There are a few people on the BB who have double setup so we will see. Question: How often do you see people with HTS that have more than one set of drivers at each location? My brother has a kick@$$ system in a room smaller than my dorm and it sounds great Even my ACS295 speaker that I currently have make a good sound arena. I can hear footsteps walk across from left to right in Thriller and it sounds great enough The first time I listened to Black Or White on my ACS295 and the kids father banged on the door, I though it was someone at my door. It was cool.. Anyhow.. I prefer to get one set of 4.1 and save $300 to use on future upgrades to my new system It all rolls down to what you feel like doing. I'm not telling you one way or another I am just giving my opinion on what I think. Good luck and enjoy.
  4. If you search on the BB I'm sure you will find a lot of suggestions. The reason that there is more bass by your door is due to the sweet spots in your room. Every room has them. The sound nodes of the waves add up and double the amplitude. It has been said that if you face the port in a corner, it will also sound louder. Usually facing it at a 45° angle will make the most of it. Also, you will notice more bass under a desk as opposed to in the open Try different places to see what you like the best. Hope this helps
  5. I will settle down once I get the parts for my new system in a week - ordered and waiting for shipment.
  6. I have to stop posting on my first thoughts and read posts more carefully. My apologies to you and to other posters I have misread. I guess if I was in your shoes I might think differently on this case depeding on what I though about the mids. I don't know what Klipsch would charge for Pro sats it might be better to sell your v.2-400 for around $200 and spend the extra $100 on for a new set of 4.1. I guess this is more impracticality of the comsumer and not Klispch. Sorry again and I will try to think before typing.
  7. Oh.. I am.. Have the parts ordered.. should have within a week or so. I was just using that as an example. I won't buy another complete system again - only home builts for me
  8. I guess some people just don't understand how consumer businesses work now-a-days.
  9. I prefer trailers of DD, DTS, and THX .vob files .. awsome.. just plain awesome. I can hardly wait to listen tho them throu 4 channels of ProMedia perfection. THX - Grand is sweet.. of course, most are.
  10. MovieFreak: Stop before you start bashing too much. What Coo1asice has done is contributed to that little bug that every crazed computer/electronics/orwhateveryourinterestare person. He is going to be an engineer.. he is just doing his instinct by wondering about the design of the sub I buy a computer.. I take it apart to see what is in it.
  11. Here we go again.. What you are asking is impractical also.. Think about it. There is nothing wrong with the crossovers in the old sats. Nobody has complaind of any real problems for over a year until something better comes out Also, Klipsch is already offering the CP-1 as an upgrade for something practical. A sat kit is impractical. Say it with me.. im-prac-tic-al

    Sharing a DSL Modem

Shouldn't the router take care of all of the routing I have cable at home and will be buying a router. I though that the cable goes to cable modem then out to router to split to other computers. When you mentioned: "The #1 computer, where the DSL modem is physically located" I think of that as going from cable to cablemodem then to comp #1 then to router. which way is correct?

Yeah.. I have had this 17" Triny for 3 years now... no complaints. I ordered a 19" Sony Triny so that should be here in a week or so. Larger would be nice but it gets to the point where it would be more usefull to have 2 19" monitors instead of a 21"

    Overclocking Tips

Golden Orb on Athlon? must have modded it. As for the temp.. its a little high in my opinion. you can get a lot better heatsinks for around $30 to keep it in the low 40s. As for the peltier and waterblock.. have fun but dont fry your computer. With an 84W peltier.. you will have to take over 100W of heat away from your processor Definitly have some temp probes on that bad boy.
  15. The Quints center needs an amp. you would have to find a center with a built-in amp and something with good enough quality. If this is for you computer system, I would honestly say to save your money and use 4-pt downmixing. with the close proximity of computer speakers, a center channel is not really needed but I'm sure a seperate center will do a little better job .

    Overclocking Tips

Ya.. The SOrb is going to have a hard time with all of the. I just ordered my new system parts and got a GlobalWin FOP38. However, I heard this a loud mofo of a fan I am getting a BlueCore TBird 1GHz and am hopefully planning on overclocking at least 1.3 <1.4 would be great> on an Abit KT7A-RAID As for case cooling.. I got an AOpen full tower so I will be getting some cheap fans some time to cool the HDs and components.
  17. Nobody knows a date.. we have been hearing possibly the end of this month. It all depends on when they sell the rest of their v.2-400 stock.
  18. that or just get one of those halo head/neck braces
  19. The PC1600 is cheap.. the PC2100 could be cheaper eapecially if you plan on getting 256MB 256MB DDR 200MHZ PC1600 $ 129 256MB DDR 266MHZ PC2100 $ 284
  20. Have a 5-point seatbelt harness installed in your computer chair and buy a neckbrace. I am all ready for when I get mine.
  21. I have no Idea when the QDR will be out so don;t hold me to anything. Also, I think the KT133A platform is a better overclocker than the DDR ones You must remember that there will always be something better coming out so get what you will be happy with. Check this out It compares KT133, KT133A, and DDR http://www.hardocp.com/articles/chipset/ktsvsddr/
  22. umm.. it's $145 for PC2100. 70 is for the PC1600. I am actually getting an Abit KT7A-RAID within the week with PC150 RAM <$160 for 256MB> There is probably going to be cheap QDR RAM out for AMD some time. If you look at some benchmarks that are out , DDR does not really boost that much above SDR. However, RDRAM is a bit more boost because of the greater bandwidth <800> as opposed to the 266 of DDR. I just like what the Abit offered and it has been a proven platform for overclockers. Also, think about the 1GHz instead of 1.2 I am just going to overclock it with an FOP38-1 loud mofo HSF. All-in-all, I would rather have 256MB instead of 128 of RAM and I'll spend the money I save on the 1GHz for a second HD for RAID. ~*sniff*sniff* What's burning? ~What? ~What!?! I can't hear ya. You'll have to speak up a little.. Turn those speakers down! ~What? Wait.. Let me trun my Speakers down.. This better? ~What?!? What is that loud humm? ~What? Let me turn my Computer off... ... That was just my computer. Damn HeatSink Fan. I don't hear it anymore - I got my Klipsch - I got Deaf ~What? ~What?

I am building a new computer system and would like to get opinion on size Either 19" or 21" I currently have a 17" Triny from Dell and love the picture but it is staying with my old system. In my opinion, I don't think it is worth an extra 345 for a 21" when I could always get another 19" Any suggestions? Who has had what and what do you prefer
