  1. Thank you all for your helpful information. I tried the SAHF last night, but the differences between the SAHF and original K-55 is very subtle. It is so subtle that it is almost unnoticeable. Overall, I prefer the university for its smoothness. Cheers,
  2. Well noted about the caps and tweeter replacement. But any suggestion of a particular brand of caps or tweeter to recommend. I am willing to try anything. ^^
  3. I only have a multi meter. Right now, I am using 1.33uf, but I have no idea about the crossing frequency respond with 1.33uf. I start out with 1.80uf then came down to 1.33uf. Also, anyone know when does the K-77 start rolling off? Cheers,Jeff
  4. Is there a formula for such calculation? Supertweeter spec: 8ohm, 100db Klipschorn spec: 8 ohm, 104db My goal is to activate supertweeter at about 15Khz or any other suggestion. PS. I can provide addtional info, but don;t know what info are needed for such calculation. Cheers, Jeff
  5. Found this passage about magnet, http://www.magnetsales.com/Design/DesignG_2.htm The effect of time on modern permanent magnets is minimal. Studies have shown that permanent magnets will see changes immediately after magnetization. These changes, known as "magnetic creep", occur as less stable domains are affected by fluctuations in thermal or magnetic energy, even in a thermally stable environment. This variation is reduced as the number of unstable domains decreases. Rare Earth magnets are not as likely to experience this effect because of their extremely high coercivities. Long-term time versus flux studies have shown that a newly magnetized magnet will lose a minor percent of its flux as a function of age. Over 100,000 hours, these losses are in the range of essentially zero for Samarium Cobalt materials to less than 3% for Alnico 5 materials at low permeance coefficients. If the above is true, 3%@100,000 hours equal to 11.5 years of continuous playing time (24 hrs/day).
  6. Thanks for all info. The only reason I inquire about the magnet strength is because I like the "new" Klipschorn very very much and want to keep them for as long as I can. This 76 Klipschorn is actually my third pair of Klipsch speaker within the 1.5 year period. I believe all drivers in my Cornwall are interchangeable with the Klipschorn, I will try to swap them to see if there is any audible difference. So is there some way I can measure the strength of my magnets?
  7. Hello, I recently acquire a pair of 76 Klipschorn. I read somewhere that magnet strength will deteriorate over time. 1) I wonder if anyone have them re-charge to full strength? 2) Where to re-charge? 3) How do I test the magnet strength on my own drivers? 4) What is the reading on full strength? Please help.
  8. Listening room and room treatment, but room treatment is less effective with horn since it is so directional focus but night and day difference with Cone/Dome.
  9. Since KH bass bin is back firing, does your wall shake when you blasting your KH? If so, I cannot imagine what it will do to my glass sliding door. Cheers
  10. I use 3 on my CW. 2 Front, 1 in center back, clarity and bass improve.
  11. I am currently using Cornwall in 14.5x32 Room, back against 14.5 wide, 10feet tall glass sliding door, the side wall are solid concrete. I am satisfied with Cornwall now but really want to upgrade to Klipschorn as my last Klipsch. 1) What type of problems will I run into if I decide to get Klipschorn and place it against big glass window? Can the false corner solve my problem with the glass sliding door? 2) In your opinion, is the Klipschorn too big for this 14.5x32 room? 3) Any advantage for using Cornwall over Klipschorn in this particular room? Please help. Cheers, Jeff
  12. Thanks for your tip, I already swap amp and trouble shoot with cd-direct to see if there is any problem with my pre-amp also. The result is still the same, one speaker still play in lesser volume than others. Since there is still sound coming out form the "less loud" speaker, I suspect I blew up something within the MH driver unit since it is noticeably lesser in volume when it compare to HI/Lo unit but will further verify this when I can barrow a test tone disc form friend in order for me to test individual driver unit for volume. It is kinds of hard to do this test when test only with music since I cannot isolate sound form individual driver unit. The horn "presesnce" is so strong that I didn't really notice this problem until I sit at my "sweet spot". Hope the damage is not too serious and hope expert here can walk me through the "trouble shoot process" in order for me to understand what replacement parts I may need for repairs.
  13. Eversince I heard a big popping sound. (This happen when I accidently step on speaker cable and rip it off speaker binding posting while the amp is turn on) One of the speaker seems to be less "loud" than the other. What could possible go wrong? Do I need to reaplce its driver unit?
  14. My problem is that I really like to keep both amps but only have space to keep one. Both amps have different strength. One offer power, fullness, stage presence, while the other delivery details, timbre and quickness. For dynamics, I think they are just as good, quickness vs weighty type. On Jazz/acoustic music/female vocal/strings, the 300B is the clear winner but prefer Rogue with rock/reggae/male vocal/rap/large "blew you away type" classical music. Not that the 300B is "weak" in dynamics, but it just lacks "energy" comparing to Rogue. I guess "watt is watt" when it is 120 vs 36.... I mean you don't really notice it when listening to 5 or less instruments music. But on large scale stuff, the stage presence just let me believe that power is the reason for producing this level of holographic stage presence. So I am somewhat more in favor of Rogue but at the same time really enjoy the 300b's delicacy. It is tough to see either amp goes...but will struggle with this for a few more weeks before making my final decision. Hope to get as much input as possible... Cheers, ps. The Klipsch sound is so addictive that I upgraded form Heresy 2 to Cornwall within the same month.
