  1. Ok, makes sense. I've got some cheap analog wires lying around somewhere but are there some that you guys would recommend?
  2. Do you guys have your tube cd players hooked up to the analog or digital outputs? Is one better than the other, or just a personal preference? And as far as a cdp that has HD decoding, every HDCD that I have played with my current cdp really didn't impress me, in fact they lacked bass considerably. It could just be the type of music but anyway whatever tube cdp I end up purchasing I don't think I'm gonna be concerned with HD decoding (or should I) ?
  3. Aaaahhhh .... You Did listen to me , ...Once ...[] ................and you upgraded to the EH 12AX7 Gold Pin tube I'm assuming? (level 2 mod) I checked them out and they're only $17.95 a tube. If that improved sq than how can you go wrong buying the stock JD100 and getting the tubes yourself instead of the $300+ mod? Hmmm........Someone please step in and spend/save me some $$.
  4. I agree Gilbert. This forum is my primary source of info on products because let's face it, the folks here are the professionals. "Red Book"??
  5. It's new, not used for $899. No mods. Sound fair? (The Jolida at Saturday's Audio).
  6. Money aside - that's a good question. I guess that I'm biased (no pun intended), but my answer would be that there are a few of us in here that run modded Jolidas (mine is by Underwood - stage 1) and cannot imaging needing or wanting anything more. Then again, I've never heard an Ah! with an upsampler, so maybe I'm missing the cat's meow. I can just tell you that the modded JD100 is built like a tank and has all the top end that I'll ever need. If memory serves, the only comments that I've read in here comparing the Ah!/upsampler to the Jolida were to the stock Jolida - and that's not really a fair fight. Then again, maybe someone will correct me. Here's the underwood page - if you scroll down you'll see the level one and two mods for the Jolida JD100. http://www.underwoodhifi.com/mod_jolida.html I've seen modded units go for far less on the pre-owned market. Good luck and happy hunting. Carl. Thanks for the site, Carl.
  7. Meagain, have you ever visited Saturday's Audio on Belmont? They have a Jolida, I'm gonna try to get down there this weekend to give it a listen. I've come across some "ok" deals there in the past on some amps. They also have my current Denon cd player as well so hopefully I can do some blind tests.
  8. Comparing the Jolida and the Ah, money aside, which is better? If the Ah has better sq would the Jolida with a tube upgrade win me over? Correct me if I'm wrong, seems like the Jolida is more attractive and built better but in the end sq must prevail.
  9. Nevermind I see it on your other thread................wake up....hello.......
  10. Well, I'm not really sure...........I thought I'd hook it up the same as my current cd player?????(to the reciever). The reason I'm considering this, if you remember I'm most likely gonna go with the JM Peach for a pre-amp. I've decided to use the Peach in a different room in the house just for two-channel listening. In my main room I use the system to watch a lot of concert dvd's so I don't really want to change the surround sound reciever. My cd player needs to be upgraded so that's why I'm looking into tube cd players for the music listening in that room. It would be used with RF-7's. Upgradeitis is a factor here but I'd really like to do better than the $200 Denon cd player that I have now.
  11. Is it possible to get the same results with a tube cd player/ ss power amp combo..............as compared to a tube pre-amp/ss power amp combo? If so, what tube cd players are worth mentioning?
  12. He is and it's supposed to be out in the very near future. I'm probably gonna purchase one!!
  13. I'm in the same boat..............all very good comments on the JM pre-amps around here.
  14. Are you opposed to running professional amps? I went that route and I'm very pleased with what's coming out of my 7's. Less expensive, more bang for your buck. The fans are the only downside. They are very audible if you have them in the same room but there are very simple remedies for that. I don't hear my fans at all.
  15. Music or movies or both with the f-113? What type of music? I've been considering one myself but I'm pretty satisfied with my RSW-15's and SVS Ultra Plus. They've become a good combo, unique bass.
  16. I don't know of any 60 year olds that dig bass like you do, Roc. That's cool. By the way, for how long did you participate in Sumo wrestling? lol
  17. Roc, how do you have them set up? Are they co-located?
  18. I have a Sub 12 in my bedroom with RB-75's. Very good for music. Reasonably priced.
  19. You're really gonna like the RSW-15 with the 30's. I give you two weeks and you're gonna want another one. Plenty of slam with the 30's.
  20. Don't give up on the 7's too easily. When they're dialed in correctly they're damn hard to beat with the exception of other Klipsch lines more expensive. I had to learn to be a little more patient and it was really worth it.
  21. Prior to owning Klipsch speakers I was all too familiar with distortion and systems that "color" the sound. Klipsch are honest speakers that do not color the sound and are extemely clean. Like the other member said, "Crap in=Crap out". A quality source with sufficient power (not necessarily expensive) will make the 7's sound absolutely awesome!!
  22. You're not alone............I'm up to eight subs........and the "Ear", well he might be supplying the low frequencies for all of Canada.
  23. BTW, Mark was very helpful and informative. Pleasant guy to talk to and I look forward to giving him some business.
