  3. Thanks, Artto Your explanation was easy to understand. I think I have a clear picture of what is going on and I appreciate everyone's time and efforts to explain everything to me.
  4. Yeah - I believe you are correct. I played a different movie this morning and there was different material coming out of both woofers. The left channel seems to be producing a much lower frequency and the right channel appears to be a brighter material - getting closer to what would come out of the horn. Interesting. The end result sounds clear and powerful. I have had the RC-7 a few years now and just noticed this phenomenon very recently and by accident.
  5. I have an RC-7. When I put my ear right up to each of the two woofers, there is definitely a LOT more material coming out of the right woofer than the left woofer. I almost can't hear anything coming out of the left woofer. I understand the concept of different material coming out of each woofer, but there is a VERY significant difference between what I hear coming out of each woofer. Is there something wrong with my crossover? Any thoughts or suggestions?
  6. Hello All I recently was told by a member of the product support staff at Klipsch that each woofer on the Klipsch RC-7 actually produces different material. In a recent hearing test, I was able to confirm this. I always thought that each woofer produced the exact same material, whether playing music or dialogue. Can anyone elaborate on this for me? I believe Klipsch calls it the Tapered Array. [The reason I ask is that I recently replaced the left woofer on my RC-7 and noticed that it seemed to be much quieter than the right woofer, producing much less material in terms of dialogue. I then switched the woofers and the majority of the material continued to come from the right side (which was now my new woofer), allowing me to confirm that the woofer I had recently pruchased for replacement was indeed functioning appropriately.]
  7. Hello All I am looking to sell a pair of RF-5's and an RC-7. All are black and in immaculate condition. As I am unaware of the Klipsch protocol for selling speakers on this forum, interested parties should respond to robertodilliplane@hotmail.com. Thanks, Robert
  8. I have a pair of RF-5's and a pair of SF-1's. I want to make a 5 or 5.1 system. Any suggestions? Do I go RC-7, RC-35, SC-3...? Will the SF-1's used as rears sound OK hooked in with the RF-5's used as left/right main? Sub suggestions? **I know you guys are really into HT as a hobby, but is there truly a difference between the reference series and the synergy series as far as sound goes for the average person? I am using a Yamaha RX-V1500 to power the system.
  9. While I have the Yamaha RX-V1500 for 1 year already, I still haven't utilized its home theater abilities. (So please excuse my lack of understanding at this point.) I have been using 2-channel stereo with the RF-5's when I watch a DVD. The SF-1's I have packed up right now. If I get a center channel speaker but don't get a sub right away, will the receiver still divide out the sound through the other 5 speakers that I have? Out of which speakers would the base come? Robert
  10. Hello Everyone I have a Yamaha RX-V1500, a Sony RDR-GX300, a pair of RF-5's and a pair of SF-1's. I still need a center channel and a sub to make a 5.1 system. I would use the RF-5's as my main left and right speakers and the SF-1's as my rear speakers. 1. Will the RF-5's and the SF-1's work well together? 2. Any recommendations for the center and the sub? (Nothing outrageous, please. I am on a somewhat limited budget.) 3. Can I get away from buying a sub and still use the 5.1 system? Please advise... Thanks!! Robert

  12. Hi KingDave I would like to respond to your question regarding a receiver. I hope that I can help you with your inquiry. You said that you want to spend between $200 and $300 on a receiver. I highly recommend Yamaha. I have had three Yamaha receivers and I have been extremely happy with all three. My 1st Yamaha was damaged by water so I had to get rid of it. My 2nd Yamaha I sold in order to buy a Yamaha AV receiver with more power and more features. Yamaha makes one of the best receivers out there. Other great brands are Denon, Onkyo, Marantz, Harmon Kardon, and Sony. (I might have missed some, but my list includes the most popular brands out there.) Whether a receiver is made by Japanese, Chinese or Taiwanese people is really not a factor anymore. Those people work very hard and they get paid next to nothing for it. I can remember in the 70's when my father and I would go to look at cars. We would laugh at the Toyotas, Datsuns and Mazdas. Guess what...we aren't laughing anymore. I don't think anyone is laughing anymore. McIntosh receivers are excellent and no one is ever going to argue that point, but they cost thousands of dollars. Who can afford to pay that for just a receiver? Most people have varied interests and will need that money to spend in other areas. Good luck shopping. Check out Yamaha and some of the other brands I mentioned...you won't be disappointed. Robert
  13. Dear Forum Can anyone out there tell me from experience if the feet from the SF-1 will fit on the RF-5? Thanks! Robert
  14. Hello Forum I have a pair of RF-5's and I want to understand the connection posts in the back. There are 4 posts, 2 red and 2 black. Looking from left to right they go red, black, red, black. The first red has LF written above it and the last black has HF written above it. The two posts in the middle don't have anyhting written above them. I was told recently that depending on how I connect my cables, I will get a slightly different sound. Is this correct? Can someone explain this to me? I currently have my cables hooked up to the two outer posts, which would seem to mean that I am achieving a combination of low and high frequencies. I'll await your replies. Thanks!! Robert
  15. What is the difference between the Synergy & Reference Series? Robert
  16. I loved the sound of the 2004 SF-3's. I bought a pair, but they arrived damaged and I had to return them. I can't seem to find them anywhere now. I saw recently that they have been replaced by the 2005 F-3's. Is there a big difference between the two besides appearance? (I noticed that the 2005 F-3's have the port in the front and the woofers look different.) One of the things I always liked about the Klipsch Synergy Series was that they were more mid and upper range dominant. I don't like a lot of bass. Is the new F-3 the same? I have always loved the sound of the Klipsch horns. I guess I want to know if the speakers are similar. If they are, I'll buy the F-3's. OR...should I go with the Reference Series instead? What is the difference between the Synergy and Reference Series? Please let me know. I already have a pair of Synergy SF-1's that I bought in 2001 and I love them. Thanks!! Robert
