  1. that would be ms. venus de milo, Just the usual suspects...[]
  2. Beautiful stuff Bill. You are a much braver man than I...when mine were 2 years old that much stuff within reach would have been a recipe for disaster..... Bill
  3. Nice room, nice gear. Here in Texas we rarely have the luxury of a basement... Enjoy, Bill Here's a pic of my 2 channel setup.
  4. You might want to check out the 2200, after a lot of reading and initially wanting the 2900 I settled on the 2200. Same DACs, pretty much identical audio/video performance, not as heavy duty and a few less bells. I'm very happy with it. Bill
  5. I have a pair of CF-2's that I really like. Great bass from the dual 8" and a 2" tweeter. Crossovers are 3 times as big as my KG 5.5's They were $1500. new. I think the 1's were just a little less. Great speaker, under appreciated imho. I just upgraded to the Chorus II's as I prefer the 3-way sound but I won't sell the CF2's. Enjoy, you got a good buy.
  6. G-8000! Very cool ;-) I have one myself, also a '78. Cannot part with it, just those knobs alone are a lost art... a bygone era... Adjusted for inflation, manufacturing difficulty and materials used those things would cost about $6k to produce today....
  7. Mike , I kind of stole it from the father guido Sarducchi character, the chain smoking cleric from old Saturday night Live. The Sansui 9090 when in top shape still provides a wonderful sound. I bought one in '76 and all my kids were raised on it. Can't compare to the Conrad- ST70 combo though... ;-)
  8. Thank you all. Yes it was a great road trip, was set for a 4 day slog and turned out to be a wonderful break from life and computers. Drove mainly all night, no traffic, full moon, no rain, nice and cool. Yes I've heard that the Choruses are placement sensitive. I do not have corners to put them in. They are on the long wall of an apartment about 9 ft. apart very slightly toed in. The sound stage is huge and that mid-high resolution is fantastic. Just listened to Pat Barber's MOFI sacd of "Cafe Blue". Pretty stunning stuff on these things. Thanks Jay, I'm almost tempted to hit the road and offer 500, but I can't be buying anything else "just to have them" ;-). I do love multiple speaker setups and wonder what those Forte II would sound like standing next to the Choruses with there own ST70 running them..... Madness indeed ;-) Bill
  9. J Jay, where would those Forte II's be located, and what is being asked fro them? Thanks, Bill
  10. Satisfied indeed! The best sound I have ever had in my house. I will never part with these. I got them at less than half price of new which I consider a steal as they are 94's in new condition and getting harder to find all the time. I drove 2100 miles round trip to get them as he would not ship... yes I am crazy I guess ;-) I would do it again, can't believe they are standing in my living room now...........Best sound purchase I have made in a long time. As fate would have it my trip took me right through Hope, AR so I stopped in at the "Klipsch Museum" to pay my respects. I am listening to "The Guitar Trio" from Paco, Al, and John at good volume as I type, Wow, I have never heard it like this, not much bass in that recording but the mids highs are sounding just magic... Thank you Paul!
  11. Thanks. Sorry about the delay in response. I just came back from a 4 day road trip to score a pristine set of black CHORUS II's! They have been up and running for 4 hours and wow is all I can say. I had pretty decent sound before this upgrade. Running a set of KG 5.5's and a set of Epic CF-2's together via 2 modified ST-70 Dynacos. The Choruses out perform that pair. There is less big bass but the mids and highs are absolutely magnificant. This is my first upgrade into Heritage class sound and I am a believer.
  12. Hi All, I am a newbie to this great site. Have been reading and learning a ton of stuff here. Thank You all for that. I am in the Austin, Texas area and am looking for a nice set of Chorus II's. I prefer black but will consider any finish. I will gladly drive a couple hundred miles. Thanks for any help with this. Kind Regards
  13. Hey Champagne/beer, No offense was taken, no apology needed but I appreciate the courtesy. I own the G-8000, basically identical to the 9000 but with a couple fewer switches and derated to reflect the "lower" output figures. (That's why they put out 200 watts per channel actual instead if the rated 125). Same huge toroidal transformer and huge capacitors. These things weigh in at almost 60 lbs and are incredibly well built. Enjoy
  14. Hi, Seadog, axelsrd, bsafirebird1969, Fish, jt1stcav, thanks for your replies, I appreciate all your comments and just want to say again how much I like my Klipsch speakers, I will be looking forward to auditioning all the Klipsh "big dogs" as soon as possible and will be checking out this forum regularly, there is a ton of great info here. (One other "brand X" I have heard a lot about over the years and have never heard is the KEF 107s. Just like the big Klipsch's the owners are a super loyal bunch that swear they have the best). It's all good! Best Regards.
  15. Hi Champagne, thanks, it's all a nuthouse! I am thoroughly enjoying my setup! Just curious, on the HK receiver thing, why would you recommend something you have not heard? and what makes you think it would be an upgrade to what I am listening to? I would like to highly recommend either the Sansui 9090, 8080 or the G-9000, G-8000. If you have not heard one of these (in good working condition) then you will be AMAZED when compared to the modern HK. A very big difference! Enjoy.
  16. Hi EdwinR, Thanks. Yes I have always tried mix and match and it can yield great results. As far as "the world of upgrade" is concerned, sure, I will always be open to better sound but at the moment what I have is like enjoying an incredible high class meal, no need to be thinking about an "even better" meal somewhere else! I love the total sound of the Maestros and CF-2s together and have been listening for hours at a time. It's like command live performances in my living room!
  17. Hi Cornwalled, Yes the "large" Advents are well known and very popular 2 way speakers. Henry Kloss set out to make a 2-way when the common thought was that 3-way was mandatory minimum. They have been poopood by "serious audiophiles" for many years but when doubled up they sounded fantastic, especially for the money, (about $380 apair in 1976) I too have those, the all walnut rounded front bevels models also known as "A3s". I had them all refoamed and am using them in a Sansui QRX7001 quad setup in my bedroom You got a GREAT deal on yours. The Maestros where Kloss's answer to the request for 3-way and they were the TOTL models from Advent. Acoustic suspension, 10" woofer, 5 1/2" dome midrange and 1 1/2" dome tweeter, all upgraded from the 2-way speakers. They sound very good and hold their own with comparison against many much pricier speakers. What I thought was ironic was that I have 3-ways from Advent which is famous for it's 2-ways, and 2-ways from Klipsch which is famous for it's 3-ways and they sound GREAT together. As far as the Marantz goes, they are fine amps but have absolutely nothing on the topshelf Sansuis built between 1975-1981 either the 9090 series or the G-9000 series. These units are incredibly well built and have a beautiful sound. No modern HK compares, at least the three models I listened to. I am really enjoying the CF-2s and look forward to getting a chance to hear the Cornwalls, Khorns, La Scalla, Heresy and other top models from Klipsch that I have heard so much about.
  18. I don't know what you mean by "midwest versus eastcoast thing" but I take it from the lack of welcome that I said something wrong? Is it because I also own another brand of speakers? I mainly meant to say how happy and impressed I am with my Klipsch speakers. Too bad it took me so long to discover them but better late than never.
  19. Hi. I'm new here and new to Klipsch. I have heard many comments about them over the past forty years and have always been intrigued but never got around to hearing them. I am a new Klipsch fan and am thrilled at finally having discovered these fabulous speakers. I am spending hours going through my CD collection again and just grinning in amazement. Best $200 I have ever spent. Long live Klipsch!
