  1. looking for one of these - seems like a lot of above retail offers out there Are there different levels? Which one to buy? I am buy this on the reccomendations of forum buddys- a plan that has worked to pefection so far. If not the ZU which 103??? From which source?? website says sold out til summer 2010.

Willbe mounted on TD 125 with SME unmodded 3009 tonearm- VRDs - Peach- PS audip preamp.

thanks as always-I love my 2 ch setup- thanks to you guysBig Smile.

Which version of the 3009 tone arm do you have? If you have the S2 with the fixed headshell and screw on counter weight, then this is not the cart for you. It is too heavy. If you have the earlier version with a removable headshell and split counter weight then you will be fine. Not all SME 3009's are same. BTW I run a ZU103 With an early SME 3009 on my Thorens TD124 and it's a great combo.

  2. Hey Bob,

Great score. As pointed out eariler, with a radian diaphragm will will lose the low end potential of the 2482 on the 225Fc horn. I don't know the specs on the radian, but The phenolic dia on that horn will crossover solidily down to 300 Hz. That just ain't gonna happen with the Radian. I would (and have) shell out the bucks for a JBL phenolic for the 2482's. For that driver it is worth it IMO. Good luck and keep us posted,

  3. It might be an old Artec Ransing.

That's the funniest thing I have seen today! Unfortunatly I was eating lunch when I read that, so now i'm wearing it.

I feel like i'm gonna be on a child porn watch list for looking at that pic. [:#]

  4. Awesome SCORE!!!! That's what we all keep hoping to find.

Might be a Forum record for Corns

I think someone found a pair for $25 at a local neighborhood garage sale who also had a pair from his aunt. I don't think they had the really cool cane grills though.

    Enjoy! MusicMusicBig SmileMusicMusic

Good memory Ben, that would be me. I have (2) pair and $25 is the most I've paid for any Heritage Klipsch! Still have them too.

  5. Al,

Well, if you ever decide to sell the Oris /AER combo, let me know. It may be out of my range, but i'd like to at least know about it if you ever sell.

You did a wonderful job of prettying up your wood horns. Mine are in a box so you only see down into the throat, so no pretty for me. Thanx for sharing your project.

I think we need to get a compilation thread of all these DIY tractrix projects and sticky it.

  6. Dennie already covered the 1st two things I would try. If nothing changes you and you have narrowed it down to the speakers, I would try swapping crossovers side for side and see if the problem follows the crossover. I would be suprised if it is the midrange driver itself. The diaphragm should either be good or bad. I don't think there is any in between. I have never seen a degradation in sound from a diaphragm. If the problem stays in the speaker when switching the TT or amp, then my guess is a cap in the crossover has failed or drifted out of spec and you are hearing the added frequency being sent to one of the drivers. Trouble shooting is fun! Good luck!

  7. A circular tractrix that crosses around 500hz-600hz would be interesting.

It would be interesting and it would be small in scale compared to the bass bin. The Oris 250 I've shown is about 22" diameter which would barely be as wide as the front panel. I'm afraid it would even look small. I guess visual proportion is important to me for some reason. the Oris 200 and 150 are bigger but their lower fc would be unnecessary with the Jub bin. I think the Orphean MKII system shown on the BD website would be a killer idea on a K-horn bass bin. That would probably be a cheaper option for me also because SWMBO just gave me some corners. But after all I read about how much cleaner the Jub bins are than the k-horns I can't help but lean toward the Jub idea. Oh well..............it's all just dreaming at this point anyway. Thanx for listening.

  8. Seti:

I am about to take delivery on a pair on Jub clones. Pretty much in the same place as expressed by "Ki" - being that I have not 100% committed to the mid/top section. What did you end up doing in yours? Can you post some pictures? I am trying to see what others have done. WAF is a big big factor here if I am ever going to get these into my house.

Lately i've been fascinated with the idea of building some DIY Jub bass bins and using this up top:

    http://www.bd-design.nl/index1.html

I really like the thought of those oris horns sitting atop Jub bass bins with the BMS 4592ND driver. Pretty pricey, but if I were to purchase them I would not need alot of this other stuff I have laying around here. Those Oris horns have much better WAF, at my house, than anything else I have seen sitting on a Jub bass bin thus far. Good luck with your new venture.

  9. Since this was bumped back up and we are ranking deals, I just want it to be known that I have 2 pair of Cornwalls with a total investment of $25. I think I should be able to find a seat somewhere up there near Gary. [:D]

  10. Jeremy,

Yes, the EE5800 is compatible with the K-79 or any other tweeter where the tweeter is 8 ohms and has MORE or equal senstivity to the rest of the speaker. The ES500 low crossover would work too if you can swallow the cost. The ES600 too. The low crossover is really determined by how low you can push the squawker horn and driver. ES networks let you safely shove it lower without damage to the driver. Just be sure the horn will function below it's ratings. The Altec 811b horn, for example, will go down to 700 Hz nicely to spite its 800 Hz ratings.

    Al k.

Thanx Al, that is great to know. I wondered about the ES600 as well thanx for clearing that up too. I really need to contact you off the forum about a DIY project I have been dragging out for years, and see how your networks would apply.
