Wow. That is stunning, and that built in set up that it came out
of, with the truntable on the wall? How cool is that...what a
find.
That speaker really should be in the museum - Klipsch needs to step in here and snag that one...

OK, just to stir this up - what kills more people? Automobiles
driven by people with licenses to drive, or handguns? Are there
more automobiles than handguns? Hmmm...last time I was on the
road, having a license did NOT equate to having a brain. Also, I
think, at least inTexas where background checks and a 10 hour class are
mandatory in order to get a license to carry, that those folks (like
me) break any kind of law in such a small percentage as to be almost
negligible.
But you have the absolute right to believe your government, to be
subservient, to believe that you have a vote and some modicum of
control over the process, and I applaud your faith. I vote, I get involved, and I hope you
are right, I just don't share your optimism.
I do also beleive that if Walmart has found a better mousetrap, they
should be allowed to exploit that mousetrap. You make a better
car, cheaper with better gas mileage - you should be able to undercut
everybody (remember the Japanese cars of the 70's versus the gas
guzzlers of the American auto industry)? You adapt or you go
away, capitalism at its best.
You all have probably heard about the fight over the "Wright Amendment"
here at Love Field airport in Dallas. Essentially what this is ia
American Airlines trying to monopolize long flight airtravel in the DFW
area, by enforcing a decades old rule that stifles Southwest Airlines
ability to fly cheap flights out of a competing Dalls
airport...American is poorly run, losing money, paying executives
million dollar bonuses and showing substantial losses while Southwest
has recorded several quarters of respectable profits - I say if
Southwest can do it cheaper, give me a better bang for my buck - and
American can't compete, oh WELL...but our legislators are spending just
gobs of money arguing over this, pandering to the special interests -
it just makes no sense. Imminent domain in order to secure
profits for private business is wrong, JUST as wrong to give massive
tax breaks to corporations to come to my city, and then jack up my
property taxes to make up the difference...
Just my 2c again.

Hey Jeff!
I know the folks that are doing the condemnations for the new Texas
Stadium in Arlington up here, now you want to talk about crap...that
has got to be the biggest farcical use of imminent domain I have ever
seen. Lets tear down a decent neighborhood, so Jerry Jones can
afford another thousand face lifts...
Oh and by the way, JB, using a -car- is a privilege - until I begin
trusting my government to protect my rights instead of finding new and
inventive ways of taking them from me..carrying a gun is my RIGHT.
Check this link out and you might get where I think we are heading...

I use Music Match.
They have some plug-ins that will act like an equalizer and enhance the sound.
It is of course not free, but it is a decent player with all of the
cataloging and look up functionality. Works well with uploading
to my ancient MP3 player which I only use on the road.
I give it a tired thumbs up.

Giancarlo,
Bueno Sera,
First, condition is very important, but so is model make, specific year, color and veneer type.
Also, where you are in the world is important too, so please tell us (generally) where you are.
Then, look at the label on the back of the speakers and tell us the
serial numbers (that will give us the year, make (CW 1 or 2) and the
veneer type of the speaker.
Lastly, pictures are exceptionally important, give us the good and the bad, corners, color type of grill cloth, the whole thing.
From that, we can give you all the price information (generally) that you may want.
Thanks and welcome!

Hey, it sounds like your sub is getting juice, just no signal?
When you played the test tone, you attempted to turn the tone up, correct?
Make sure that, if there is a place to choose the "size" of the
speakers (large or small), that you make sure the sub woofer is turned
on, and not shut off. Sometimes, folks will disable the LFE
channel in order that the low frequencies go the main speakers.
What a lot fo folks don't realize too, is that there are generally
separate size and tone controls in the DVD setup as well as in the
receiver/amp...So go through both setups to make sure that the sub is
turned on, AND that the test tone is turned up...
Sorry if this is elementary, or if you have already done this...both of the above issues bit me once, so I am passing it on.

I don't think it was coincidence at all; I think these are crap
speakers and they slapped on a similar name to Klispch with the big K
and everything, and I think they scam folks...
It is just funny...if you look at their big floor standing speakers,
they say they are 3 way, there appears to be a tweeter, and two
woofers, right? But wait, there is a side firing speaker or
resonator of some kind, now look at the description, a 5" mid and an 8"
woofer? Huh?
Just don't add up...that is what makes it funny!
K

I thought this was funny and that I would share...Is the similarity of names just a coincidence?

Apparently these are sold out of the back of a white van, you know the ones...
I am gonna HAVE to get me a set of these!

Hey, I am with you...
I have, at some personal risk, attempted to find solutions to the
marketing dilemma. After talking to some of the higher powers, here is
the illumination that I received...
There apparently are persons in the Klipsch clan who think that this
forum is a waste of time. These folks believe for what ever
reason that we (forum folks) deal in used equipment and therefore do
nothing for the present Klipsch bottom line. Further, the
thinking is that the modern speakers (those fancy speakers made for
flat screens that mount on the wall etc.) are the future and those are
the constituency that matters, so marketing should be focused on that
market share.
The fallacy in all of these arguments is clear to me; yes, I own and
trade and buy and clean up and repair old heritage models - I play them
for friends and family, I enjoy the old style and the bang for
the buck. However, I also have invested thousands in current
models, (including computer speakers at $500.00 a set) and will continue
to do so...I think that the majority of posters on this forum have done
that...the buzz that I have created has a very good friend of mine
researching outfitting an all Klipsch home theater in his new house,
and I have sold family on several models.
With that being said, I cannot see how a marketing guru wouldn't find
my participation (or yours, or any of us) a major asset to this company
and build upon it...What comes to mind are a few brandnames that
because of an enthusiastic following developed into cult status icons
of time and place...like Mustangs, Harleys, and the Pontiac
Charger? Supported by the company, this revival of old style and
craftsmanship could be the pendulum swinging back to good sound, no
GREAT, sound...that has got to be a back lash to the days of MP3's and
the correction can't be far away...
I KNOW, and have said time and again, these heritage speakers would go
over in DFW, if folks could only hear, compare and buy them
locally. Not to be, apparently...
My 2c too. What do I know...

Hey!
I have a pair of white KSF-S5 sourround speakers, that are in great
shape that might be available if you really need them...They aren't
going anywhere right now...so keep me in mind. I intend to pick
up a new pair of reference surrounds one of these days, just have not
gotten around to it...
K
Edit: By the way, I like the white color as they are mounted
close to the celing and blend very well...they don't appear too over
bearing or large...just fyi.

CompUSA, are you serious? I know tht Comp has always sold the
computer speakers, but Reference line? That is unbelievable, when
Best Buy will only sell the Synergy?
AND, don't you think that having Comp selling Reference is something
that Klipsch might want to advertise on their "Find a Dealer"
page? That is huge!
I don't think it does much for the whole idea of "upscale" speaker
sales, but heck, its better than nothing I guess...Does Comp have any
on display to hear? That I would have to see...
OH, and when he said Frisco, that is a northern suburb of Dallas - not the west coast 'Frisco...
K
-
OK, you know that is a good point -
So I just got on and did a zip code search for a dealer that sold heritage near my zip (which is Keller) -
I received two hits...Starpower and Top Communications -
Here was the repsonse to my call:
Got through to Starpower, they told me that they have no Heritage
speaekrs on the floor, as they are "special order" speakers only - but
they did have the reference series, "RF-63 and 52, a couple of the
surrounds, too", to which I replied, "Well how about that big one, the
RF-83, you have those on the floor?", ""Oh yes, we have those
too..." Didn't seem terribly knowledgeable, and I would suspect
when you get out there, you won't find what he says they have...you can
try though...it is north of Beltline on the tollway...
Called the other heritage "dealer", two showrooms, first number - gets
you to a autonanswer system with number choices, and they don't work,
so I kept pressing "3" for sales, and nothing happened! The message
kept going until it repeated...tried to dial "0" to get operator and it
was shunted to answering machine...great business there.
Second location, constant busy signal...another great sign.
That was it...NOW, I was looking for heritage - and there was only two
listed, but I know there are more reference listed...so go have fun...

Hey Dog, how are you?
See I gave you credit in my signature for the Cornwalls!
Now if purchasing is an issue, I contacted a local contractor/installer
and bought my RF7's and RC-7 from him...he was difficult to get a hold
of, gave me a "new" RC-7 that had clearly been taken out and hooked up
with no feet and no manual, and it took me three months to get a
receipt but he is authorized...there are several around here like
that...I am still waiting for the feet to my RC-7...
BUT, no place that stocks these things that *I* know of...
One of my major gripes and pet peeves...I guess we aren't Europe, so no one will market to us?
K
-
You aren't going to find any.
This is an authorized dealer in Arlington, small stereo shop - when I
called them before the new line came out, they didn't carry any
heritage and only had in stock a few of the smaller reference.
They also quoted me full retail plus on any of the reference line.
When Ultimate Electronics went away, so did Klipsch reference as far as
I am concerned...and there are no stocking heritage dealers any where
near DFW, or in Texas that I am aware of (I tried to call a bunch of
these places about 6 months ago).
Sorry, but in a state this damned big, with this much money floating
around, you would think someone would try to market these speakers down
here - but apparently not...
If I am misinformed as to stocking dealers, please please correct me!

DAMN.
I have got to find some way for the wife to NOT give birth in June...I really want to come.
I need to use the think system on this child...maybe if she comes
early, then I might be able to sneak out? Man, wouldn't that be
the stuff of urban legend, inducing so I can make the
pilgrimmage? Wow, the mind boggles..
My child born in the middle of the BBQ tent at the pilgrimmage? Little yellow BS button on her?

OK, wait - I am confused.
In the TGIV setup, you have calibrations for each individual speaker,
right? Including the subwoofer....the calibration screen is what kicks out the
pretty loud reference white noise sound and then you move between the
speakers to set the output to the same perceived listening levels using
a meter, etc, right?
Then you have the on the fly trims, which you can mess with from the
remote, right? THose are zeroed out when you start calibrating -
ok?
Then you have the separate Treble/Bass adjustment, when you can go in and tell the preamp to boost the bass or not, correct?
Now, if I am understanding you, you went in and lowered all of the
calibration points to negative and just turned up the volume to hear
the white noise generated sound in order to hear the fronts and
surrounds loud enough to calibrate them with the meter... and you
cranked the subwoofer calibration up a bunch, while leaving the others
low as you could...and you left the trims and the treble/bass alone too right?
Is this the gist? Hmmm...I am not running a Klipsch sub yet, and
the SVS I ahve seems to put out more than enough bass (bangs things off
the walls when a little too high), but I might like to try this to see
if it might extend the bass to the RF fronts, what do you think?
I love my TGIV too, have you uploaded and flashed the latest
firmware? I did it once and it was pretty easy...I wonder if
these things will be obsolete when the new codecs come out? My
400~7 voodoo amp never falls short of having enough power to suit me
too.

Absolutely!
I generally don't do anything on Ebay that is that high priced - but I
just wanted to point out that the 2nd chance option is a legitimate
seller choice, but definitely be careful, especially if they can't
spell and want Western Union...
Not that being unable to speak and spell the English language is a bad thing... ;)
K
-
The e-mail does come to you through E-Bay; there is a seller's option
that if you have multiple identical items to sell, or the first buyer
fell through, you have the option of a "second chance" offer to other
folks who lost...That is a legitimate Ebay option...
The other way is just to send you a private message to your user name,
they don't have your e-mail, but can private message you the offer and
it goes through the Ebay anonymizer system, kind of like how this forum
works.
Just FYI.

Hey, is the major difference between the IV and V the HDMI switching?
Everything else appears to be the same on the preamps?
What is going on with Sunfire after Carver sold the company, have
you heard? Their web page has not been updated to include the new
models or news on the sale, I was just wondering if you had heard
anything and if this might be the beginning of the end?
Thanks,

The Bass on the Heresy's
in 2-Channel Home Audio
Posted
Hmmm...You know, I have three pairs of Heresys, and while compared the
15" woofer of my CW2's they do not have as much bass...I think they
thump for a 12" woofer ( In know I am going to get slammed for this) -
but really, I find the bass to be pretty well balanced.
If you put some music in that has a thumping bass line, you will hear it downstairs with the Heresy's, 1or 2.
Just my thought.
