  1. Hi all, Just took advantage of the killer coupon deal at Costco, and have played them for a day or 2. A couple of questions/comments: 1. What you all think about the 'decreased high-end' comment in some reviews? I'm still breaking mine in, but it is obvious that these speakers reveal a lot of detail and are likely not muffled in sound. If anything, I'm inclined to believe that the sound is more natural than anything, with maybe just the slightest bit of 'brightness' missing (though brightness is often used as a negative term.) It doesn't bother me, because I know the detail is there. I can listen at low volume and still make out all the words, instruments, etc. 2. How does the break-in process affect these speakers? The improvement is more dramatic with some than others, just curious what to expect. My placement right now is not ideal at all, so I'm not stressing the sound quality too much right now. I like what I hear so far, and I love the price! Thanks, Steve
  2. Thanks for the info. I haven't opened it up yet, but can feel where the 4 bolts probably are. The edge of the horn also feels very rough, that's probably where it snapped off. Crap, what a pain. Do you know about how much a new horn would run? I guess I can just call Klipsch customer service to find out...
  3. I recently bought a RC-3 center from someone in the forums. During shipping, the tweeter detached from the horn. The wiring is still connected though. I will be getting the correct Torx screwdriver later (if anyone can tell me the right size, that would be great!) Before then, I'd like to know how the tweeter is connected. Is it adhesive? If it is held by screws, I wouldn't imagine the tweeter could detach like that. I'm hoping after the repair the unit will be as good as new (or at least as good as it was before the tweeter got detached.) Thanks for any help or suggestions! Steve
  4. Sounds like the HK's may not be for you, but there are some great deals on refurbished HK's on EBay. I am pretty sure they are actually being sold by HK, so you should get decent support on them.
  5. Are these still available? If so, please PM me. Thanks! Steve

And he's not telling everyone to universally follow those rules, since what may actually work best will depend on your equipment. So that's where ultimately your own ears should be your guide.
  7. Thanks for the info. I guess painting wouldn't be too hard, neither would be finding some sheer fabric for the grill... Does anyone know if the SB-1 is mountable? I will also check out the in-walls, but prefer to just swap out my current mounted speakers.
  8. Hi Ron, I live in Los Angeles, so local pickup is out of the question. I wish I could afford the surrounds, would love to get those too...but you can consider it a done deal for the center. Email me at madmaxmedia at yahoo regarding payment, I can pay via Paypal or whichever method you prefer... Thanks! Steve
  9. Hi all, I am looking to replace my front speakers (wall-mounted satellites) in my HT setup (includes a sub.) I've only just discovered that I really like the Klipsch sound, so don't know much about the lineup. My current speakers are a Velodyne 5 speaker setup, but they are way too laid back for me. It never sounds 'loud' enough, until I turn it up too much and then it's too loud...I like listening to my Promedia setup more, which is pretty sad. My HT receiver is a pretty good HK 310. I know the KSB 1.1 came in white, but can't find much else. Are there any other speakers that I'm not aware of (new or discontinued)? I'm on a budget, so will probably be looking mainly for used equipment (here or EBay.) I would go for bigger, but need small white mountables for WAF... Thanks! Steve
  10. Hi, I'd love to buy the center from you, please email me at madmaxmedia at yahoo. My Ebay username is also madmaxmedia, and I have 187 feedback (100%). Thanks, Steve
