  1. My local Wal*Marts have copies of "Panic Room" Superbit version for $5.50, in their 2 for $11 bargain bins. Good movie, sweet track & great value
  2. Recently was admiring a 42" Samsung... best picture quality in the store, IMHO. Related: Best darn Service Dept. I've seen in years. Couple years back..I picked up a old ("it works") 27" Samsung tube off a lawn sale for a couple bucks. The picture wasn't sharp as it should be & I couldn't get the colors rite. Couldn't find the manual on their Web Site, so called the toll-free. A single touch-tone selection.. ring-ring.. talkin' to a very pleasant young lady, who told me how to reset the factory defaults, then mailed me a PDF Owner's manual & gave me her personal extension# in case the reset didn't work. It did. Which of their competitors gives that kinda' service? Wonder if Amy useta' work for Samsung.....

If you are an XM fan, it has a built-in XM tuner, which is kinda nice. Usually right around $500 at Best Buy. ---------------- Just received my HTR 5860, last week.. Teamed with my Klipsch, seemed a bit bright to me also.. a couple -Decibles on the treble adj. did the trick for me. Love the Auto-Setup.. ran it and made a couple small adjustments, to taste, and I'm really enjoyin' the result. Nice receiver.
  4. How's this? If you can afford 'em and will enjoy 'em, Go for it! Life is short and who wants to approach the exit with regrets?! I came close, a year back, with a stroke compounded with a couple heart attacks.. All I could think of was my Mom always sayin' "I'll be able to afford it better next year", til she finally passed, never enjoying the things she most wanted to experience. Now, I'm outa' control! (Did that do it?)

    Why...

Well... I'm certainly no expert, in fact quite a HT amateur... But I'm compelled to say "balderdash". I asked a lot of questions (in fact was probably a pain in the butt!), and did a lot of reading... mostly on area, acoustics & placement. I have RSX-5's, a RC-25, and "other" than Klipsch Sub in a (approx.) 13+x14' w/ high-ceiling room. The Sub is set to cut-off at approx. 75Hz. IMHO, more would be overkill in this room. All in the beholder's ear, I reckon. Positive comments, on the little system, from everyone who's heard it... movies & Music...possible exception My one "Hip-Hop" Daughter, who would like it to BOOM like one of those passing cars..LOL!
  6. Wow! Lots to digest! Thanks, folks! hmmm.... The Marantz looks nice.... nearest dealer is quite a ways off... Do you know of any reputable online dealers??
  7. Kinda' leanin' toward the Pioneer (partially cause I have a o-o-o-ld Pioneer Stereo Receiver that keeps performin')... I didn't care much for a friend's older HK (only one I've got to hear), and I've read a lot (good) about the Denon.. but I'd like to stay with the one's I can actually put to at least a showroom hands-on listen. I don't have a "Storefront" Denon Dealer anywhere near me (rats!) Hard 'nuff guessing how they'll sound with my Klipsch sats & Center (brite'ish) and paradigm Sub (warm'ish) Do any of you folks know if either the Yammy or Pioneer exhibit a predominantly "warm" nature(?) I'm guessing that might be the way to go(?). I got to listen to these two, briefly, on a matched Paradigm system... Dealer only had Klipsch Subs and Centers in stock..LOL.. so I really can't guess the results with my Klipsch shelfies. Thanks a bunch for the input...
  8. Thoughts on Pioneer VSX-1015TX vs Kenwood VR-9070 vs Yamaha RX-V657?? For use in a smallish (12x14ish) room, with Klipsch Bookshelf sats & Center, w/ Paradigm Sub. Thanks...
  9. Point taken, CAS. Thank you.
  10. he..he.. clever... that works, huh(?).. So I would place the sub in the spot occupied by my chair, then make like my Grandaughter Seems logical. THANKS!! BTW: at what extreme does (sub) cable length make a difference? I wouldn't think it would (within reason), and had them make me up a 24'er with good connectors.. since I had no clue where I'd end up puttin' it.
  11. I feel justified in askin' here, tho the particular product in question is not Klipsch, based on the rest of the system bein' Newly purchased Klipsch. Also, I respect the "Member Knowlege-Base" here. My ordered Paradigm PS-1000 v4 has arrived, and I'll be starting the process of positioning & tunnin'-in, this comming weekend. I auditioned "a few" subs in a listening room, that has "approximately" the dimensions of my own HT area. Smallish... 12x14 with some irregularities and a pretty high ceiling (Store's room had lower ceiling). I am oriented lengthwise, with my viewing/listening perch about 3/4 of the way back from my front components. The (store's) listening room was oriented the short & wide way The sub was directly behind the viewing sofa, and I was only able to move it slightly in any direction. It was pretty impressive, compared to the affordable & available competition... which explains why the selection. I refuse to lay out for something I haven't heard. In this environment, it sounded better (to me) than anything at hand, near this priceline. Only Subs that I liked better were a high end Klipsch & (If I recall correctly) a Hsu. Both made my bank account quiver in fear..LOL! So, this is only my second foray into Sub setup, and I'd like any thoughts and advice on where you would start, locationwise(?). I'll mention, that the only spot that is totally out of the question, is the favored "Front near the L/C/R Speakers. This is the Sub that's fully enclosed in the quasi-bandpass box. Thanks in advance, for any input.
  12. Sorry... I have w-a-a-a-y too much class to sit here on a Klipsch Forum & recommend you listen to a Paradigm PS-series, if you want pure punch. oops! I slipped!
  13. he..he.. folks will pass ya' by, if you don't turn-down them caps. I been eyein' this.. http://www2.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16882122001 and this: http://www2.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16882120003 Simple searches will turn-up reviews, etc. Good hunting!!
  14. Thanks for sharin'! Very interesting.... Now, what's your take on DLP? about a 52 incher is on my wish-list
  15. On when in use.. off when not. Works best this way... for th' "George Foreman", anyway. My other one, I jus' let the charcoal burn out! . . . . . . sorry
