  1. HDBR - When you worked at Klipsch, were there speakers laying around that employees could take home to listen to. I've read in some of your posts that you took home LaScala's for the weekend. Was this common practice, or did you have to pull strings to do this. Just curious. Great stories, keep them coming.

  2. HDBR I meant to ask you this on another post, but it fits here. I think you said Klipsch uses plywood with a poplar core, it that the same as saying that the interior plys are made of poplar, not that the interior of the plywood is solid poplar. Hope this question makes sense. Thanks for the help.

  3. Jim, I own Cornwall II's from 1989. I took a trip to Hope to see if I could talk to PWK. I was lucky enough to talk to Paul and asked him why did they replace the Cornwall with the Chorus. His comment was he wasn't sure. I believe this was about the time he was about to sell the company and perhaps he didn't have much say in the matter. I have never heard the Chorus's though would be interesting to hear. Perhaps the Heritage speakers are those that PWK had more input in. Just a thought.

  4. HDBRBuilder, Thanks for your reply, was very interesting to read. I hope you don't mind us asking you so many questions for your the first person that I have found on this forum that has actually worked on the production line. If you're tired of answering questions let us know.

    Thanks again,

  5. HDBRBuilder, Enjoyed reading your post. I once went to Hope to see the Klipsch factory. I saw the museum and then asked at the front desk if Paul Klipsch was around to ask a few questions, they told me to come back in an hour. I returned and one of the secretaries took me down to his office. It was unbelievable to finally meet this man sitting across from his desk asking him a bunch of questions that I had thought of on the way down there. He was polite and very interesting to listen to. Something I'll never forget. It was funny seeing K-77 tweeters on his desk acting as paper weights, and there was also a bird house outside his office window shaped like the PWK symbol. Thanks again for the enjoyable posts.

  6. John, I have 1989 Cornwall II's which uses a K-34-E woofer which is the same as the K-33 except the front gasket is thinner for front mounting. The midrange is a K-57-K, and the tweeter a K-79-K. The midrange and tweeter are available from Klipsch. The crossover in mine is mounted on a circuit board and is a part of the back speaker terminal connection. I believe this crossover was designed just for this combination of Klipsch Cornwall components. I have the schematic for the crossover if your interested.

  7. Tom, Klipsch sells the K-33 for around $100.00 and that includes shipping. I recently bought one for my Cornwall II's 1989 model.

Mine was actually a K-34 but the only difference is the gasket on mine is not as thick because mine mount from the front. I talked to Trey Cannon about this that was the only difference.

  8. HDBRBuilder, Am I understanding this correctly, Klipsch bought the plywood with the various veneers already applied. They didn't build the cabinets out of birch and then apply the particular veneer that was needed? Also if you bought a veneer cabinet were the corners mitered at 45 degrees? Do you know if Klipsch used Birchwood Casey's Tru-Oil to oil the veneered oil cabinets? Thanks for your enjoyable posts, there really great.

  9. James, I often wondered if you could get anywhere by calling the number that is often listed on CD's if you think there is a quality control issue. I don't know if there's a number on DVD's. The number may be on the actual case. Just a thought maybe you have found a problem with this particular disc that they are not aware of. Perhaps it's worth a try. Dan
