Talked too the dealer he won't budge in the price.
Can anyoen else do me a favor and head down too the local Klipsch dealer and see what he/she sells the 35's for? Klipsch dealers please enlighten me on the present discontinued MSRP for the RF35's.
-
I second WoW=World of Warcraft for being REALLY addicting. Lineage2 is a fairly popular one as well.
for FPS I'd say Day of Defeat Source, Call of Duty 2 or Tribes (any version) oldie but goodie

If msrp is really CDN$1700, then 895 is an ok price, see if you can go lower- Try $800! ... Has he got new replacements in yet? Does he need room for something new? try to judge how badly he wants to get them out. Visit him early in the week when sales are slow...
As for CND vs US pricing, I have noticed that Canadians are getting a raw deal on alot of electronics. The higher Canadian prices where justified when we had a 65 cent dollar, but now with the canadian dollar at close to 87 cents US, I have not seen much of a corresponding price decrease on specialy items. On highly competitive stuff like DVD players, sure, but not on alot of other stuff. Too Bad.
I'll take that into consideration, whats the MSRP from other stores does anyone know? Hey Klipsch.com guys what are your thoughts on this... I really want these speakers but if there overpriced i'm not gettin em.
-
Apparantly he was trying too sell them for 1700 for a pair at first (He asks are you from Brandon..) I respond yes, cause I am. Then he tells me the price is 1200, after that i showed him the fact that they are now dicontinued.. he said he'd give me a special price (895 without taxes).

I'm looking into buying a pair of RF35's from my local Klipsch Dealer (Aurora Tv&Video), as you all know they are NOW discountinued. The models I'm looking into purchasing are store displays so theres some wear and tear on them (little chips in the woodgrain MDF at the bottom of the towers and a few little nicks down there as well, mostly the corners.
The guy wants to sell them to me for 895 CAD WITHOUT taxes, what price do you think I should try to get them to sell me em' for? $600.xx? (due too discontinuation and damage on the store display models... he has no more in stock).

Update: A Pioneer Tech came down from Toronto too the Pioneer/Klipsch
store in my city to troubleshoot this problem with Hotel Calif. I was
having, and the results are in: He proclaimed that the problem is with
the DISC itself, hardly any discs whether they say it or not will play
192khz. This disc is no exception.
My hardware as far as the Pioneer Tech. said will defnitly play a disc
in 192 if the disc has that format, Hotel California says it does...
but it's basically false advertising (it has the menu's and all, but it
won't play it).
Edit: Now that I know this problem is solved, any good rock/music that relaxes you in 192khz that you could recommend?

Magnetic Levitation is the name of this phenonmenon its the technology
that trains in Britain are going to be making use of soon enough (or
already are).
-
Klipsch Gnomes, need I say more? Steal your wife's Garden Gnomes and
stick em on top of the speaker making sure too clean the bases of them
and ride them of dirt and whatnot prior too the duty. Also make sure no
matter what if your putting something of a harder density on top of the
speakers protect the surface with felt or something like that for the
bare minimum lol. The last thing you want is scratches in the MDF.
-
If firewire isn't a requirement might I recommend the Pioneer DV-45A I
have it and love it, I have found no problems with it except for the
lack to play 2 channel DVD-A discs (well only one that i've tried
Eagles Hotel California in 192khz). I have an ongoing releationship
about this problem with my local Klipsch/Elite dealer who is in contact
with Pioneer Toronto about it as the inabilitiy to play these (but
still displays everything like it is but no sound comes out) has
stumped my provincial Pioneer location (Pioneer Manitoba Canada).
All points aside from that issue that I am experiencing (which I know
IS NOT my receiver doing it because they tried it on the Elite 59TXI
receiver and it did not output the sound as well in the same fashion
that mine was doing it), this is a very good DVD player which can be
had for about 400 dollars or so.

If I won a lottery or got a stupid sum of money instantly I'd defnitly put those wires too good use []

Sorry to hear about your job...
Btw, take your time upgrading your system. A good speaker purchase can
last you a lifetime + some so don't cut corners because you want
something right away. You'll be mad at yourself later on down the road.
If I did get towers I would probably take
off the two left and right shelves too the sides of the TV, and place
the main speakers there.. meanwhile moving all of the electronics too
the top or bottom of the television, that is the only way I can make
sense of moving the equipment.
If you do this, then I would highly highly recommend moving your TV
into the corner and putting your system at an angle to the room. I
looked at your pictures and I think this would work out just fine with
the rest of the layout. At the very least just try temporarily moving
some speakers around and see how drastic the changes are.
So you are recommending that if I am going to upgrade my system I do it
too something more major then a $300 dollar center channel? But instead
get a RF35 pair of towers for $930 which I will notice its effects ALOT
more due too having sound thrown from the back instead of just the
front and have the bass of the larger dual woofers on the tower
speakers?
Also you are recommending I opt for the 35's and not the 25's? due too
the mininmal price difference and the increased Bass on the towers?
-
Job or not, I'm in the process of looking for a new one so I can
continue my HT upgrade plans, chance are I can find a job that pays
even better so I can upgrade both sooner and get higher end equipment
then I originally planned.

VERY helpful and informative post, Tomorrow (as my family is currently
sleeping) I will run the MCCAC test and config on the room too see if I
notice a major improvement or not...
I have just taken a few pictures of the room too completly explain my
room layout, no more sketchy drawings that aren't detailed... I got the
real pictures here for yah.. lol
The pictures can be found here: http://www.kazien.com/2005_11_08/
DrWho all your questions about the media center and room locations will
be asnwered in the pictures, If I did get towers I would probably take
off the two left and right shelves too the sides of the TV, and place
the main speakers there.. meanwhile moving all of the electronics too
the top or bottom of the television, that is the only way I can make
sense of moving the equipment.
Anyway I'm off too sleep for the night, and I'll run the MCCAC in the morning and see what the results are cheers
EDIT: I guess for now I will be holding off on the upgrades as I just
got fired from my production job at Inventronics, but still lets keep
this conversation going for future ideas on what would be the best path
for me.... I have the itch and the bug for better sound quality and
harmonics.
-
I kinda took the shortcut while doing that picture, too the left of the "Media Center" is an open area, and too the right of it is a room with another door (too the right of that door yet is a fairly large closet, so that is where the media center has too be.
I will contribute more too ths thread when I get home.

The only animal related freak outs i've noticed... whenever I turn my
receiver up too -30ish with my RB25 Stereo Setup my one cat if its
sittin on the couch, no matter what I play bolts off and prances up the
stairs (like a gazelle, jumping with the back legs then the front over
and over and moving like that)... and my other cat just sits beside em
and rears her ears back and enjoys the tunes.... normally the one that
doesn't care about the music is the one thats afraid of everything
else... Go figure,animals...
Yeah I have on occasion at my friends house mistaken nosies like glass
shattering, (he almost lives in a sketchy area of town, so I thought
some vandals were outside smashin up some windows) good times when you
reailze thats not the case...
-
DrWho Right now I currently only OWN a 2 channel RB25 system and I am
borrowing the RC-25 Center and loving it, it allows me to take some
burden off of the mains and allows me too increase the volume without
the whole system bogging down/reaching its peak (or distort).
My plan for the system in its final stages are: RF25 Mains (35 if I
decide I can afford it), RC-25 Center, RSW10/RW12, RB25 Surrounds
(own), pioneer VSX1015TX receiver If I need more driving power.
That is what I envision my system being, if by some chance I win a
lottery or such I will finish this one up and create a flagship one and
have this one for the upstairs set []
The Question now is, would you recommend I keep the center or buy a sub
or some better mains and have the rb25 as surrounds, what do you think
would sound better in a non MCCAC'd room with dimensions of (not
including opened doors/otherr non doored rooms) 22 feet squared
roughly. The listening position is roughly 12 feet from the speaker
system and therefore 10feet from the back wall, and it is about five
feet from the side wall (where the speakers are).
So you can help me assess what would be the best accousitcal upgrade
(provide the best surround experience or pseudo-surround) I did up a
drawing of the room which can be seen below:
-
yes that is correct that I do not have a sub, do you recommend I take
the center channel back and grab a sub until i can upgrade again?
-
Hey everyone, i'm currently testing out a pair of RC25 centers and
loving them... they of course match up QUITE well with my RB25
bookshelves (fronts). I love their sound and everything but I am
wondering what would be a better deal for the dollar (opting for the
$800 RF25 fronts, RSW10 sub for a grand or so, the center and the rw8
$330) or some other audio upgrade?
Of course if I do get some new fronts the bookshelves would be set into
the rear (unless i got another pair of them), my system is quite
good too my tastes but because of my larger room size the sound isn't
bouncing off the wall as well as I think it should... I am going to do
a MCCAC config on it fairly soon too see if I notice any improvements.
Can you share any insight or suggestions too aid me?
-
I will defnitly pick this title up very soon, too bad my system is such
an entry level one... ahh well at least it's klipsch (horn loaded of
course)... The RB-25's are impressive alone, but they lack the ability
to play the 120 hz channel or something around there. Also they lack
the bass response of the tower speakers.
Not too mention I don't have a sub yet eithre....
My next upgrade for my system will be an HDMI equipped TV for the Xbox360 that I will be getting.

Update: I brought both the disc and the dvd player down too Aurora Tv
& Radio (where I bought my setup) and showed them the problem
(still happend), we tried a bunch of different output combinations on a
Elite 56txi receiver (and my dvd player) and still nothing
Later on today there gonna try connecting the high end elite dvd player
(DV59-AVI) too the VSX-59 TXI receiver too see if its just the
compatitiability and functionality issue, they also called Pioneer
Electronics in Manitoba (my province) and told them the issues and
problems and the guy and business there doesn't know what too make of
the issue. So there bringing the situation up too Pioneer Toronto too
see if they know anything about the issue and problems.
-
No, it doesn't seem like it is the disc or your
player that is causing this. The player and disc are working
fine. It is your receiver, the connections, or a missed
setting. The correct signal is reaching your receiver, but
something is stopping the sound from coming out.
What does the display on the receiver say? It should say "DVD 5.1ch"
and the Analog signal select should be lit up. If it does not say
exactly DVD 5.1ch, if it says "DVD/LD" you need to click the input
select button until it does. If that is displayed and you have
the cables hooked up like the diagram, there is no reason why it will
not work, and I would contact Pioneer and don't give up until they give
you a reason.
There is no reason to try other discs,
because if this doesn't work, no others will either. I can
confirm with absolute certainty that the 2 channel, 192kHz track works
on this disc. For the record, I do not know of any other 192kHz
discs.
The receiver displays those exact words (DVD 5.1ch Analog is lit up),
do you think there could be some other wonky setting on my receiver
that could be screwing it up?.... oh you did say that.
I'm going to try resetting my receiver and seeing if that does anything to fix it
I guess I will give pioneer a call in due time, either that or take the
disc down to the shop that I purchased it from (also sells Klipsch) so
i'll try it on their highest end models and setup
-
I appreciate all your help, I completely redid my connections and
settings and its' still not playing any sound... I hit the display
feature and it says it's playin 2.0 192khz/24 bit but no sound is
playing.... the countdown timers still tick too...
Do you think it could be the disc or electronical faliure thats causing
this? or maybe my dvd player would need an update in firmware... what
do you think.
Also back to the original topic... Know of any other good proven to work 2ch dvd-a or sacd discs with 192khz?
I am really psyched and dissapointed in the error's i'm seeing so far
in this disc and setup... The 96khz surround mode sounds simply
anmazing even from a 2.0 setup, I can't wait to hear the 192khz
-
I appreciate all your feedback but this is alot more indepth than I was
used too not too long ago... theres like 3 different sets of ports i'm
trying to get working and not only that... theres menus' to fiddle
around with too..
I have tried doing signal select.. The way I have everything setup
currently...(physical connections not settings) is my left and right
audio is plugged into 2ch out from the dvd player and plugged into the
5.1 fr left and right ins of the DVD/LD slots... This only resulted in
the playing of the multi-channel function on the dvd
Wow this stuff is complicated... and it's not even that advanced compared to what some stuff is/does....
I've also connected 2ch out into the same ports on the receiver and got
the same result with the dvd (multi ch plays stereo doesn't)
If you guys could help guide me or help me troubleshoot the problem from square one it would be REALLY appreciated
-
I ran the disc in 2ch and swapped the two rca's over too front left
right in the 5.1/6.1 ports and back and forth between the two and still
no audio....
I will really have to take a look at it later because i'm busy but yeah... i tried both
What would you guys buy these for

That is my expectation too but when its 895 CAD for Damagaed floor/show demo models... its kinda high. ANd considering another dealer in my province (2 hours away) sell brand new ones for 100 bucks less something has gotta change.
