  1. Are McIntosh amps really worth the hefty price tag? Also do NAD amps sound good driving Klipsch speakers, and would the C372 integrated amp with 150w RMS x2 into ohms satisfy me driving a pair of RF-7s?
  2. What sort of stereo preamps should I be looking at to power something like a Rotel 1080? Would the Rotel preamp be the best match for it? (obviously it would be looks wise)
  3. Thanks for the heads up Do you know if the Rotel RB-1080 would beable to power them well? http://www.rotel.com/products/specs/rb1080.htm
  4. Ok now you are confusing the heck out of me, what the heck is linear impedance tracking? Does that Denon have it? Cause it looks like a really good integrated amp for the money. Good reviews on it too.
  5. HOLY CRAP The Denon PMA-2000IVR is HUGE!!! 20" deep, 7.1" high, and 55lbs, that's massive for an 80w x2 amp. 20" deep, that might be hard to mount hahah
  6. I'm looking at the Denon PMA-2000IVR stereo integrated amplifier to possibly power my RF-7's (when I get them) It has 80W RMS per channel into 2-channels, is that enough for the 7's? Dr. Who was telling me the RF-7's have a nasty impedance dip that makes them require a ton of power to perform well.
  7. Not to highjack the thread but I just noticed you said you have both the RF-7s and RF-5s, personally what do you think sound better?
  8. So what amps work well with RF-5's and RF-7's? I wanna keep the price under $899 (not including tax) I was looking at NAD amps but a lot of people say they are harsh sounding not only on RF's but on other brands of speakers as well.
  9. 01 Grand Cherokee Laredo, 4x4, 4.0L my baby And no I wasn't saying I was going to use the RB-75s as a sub, I was asking if they hit hard enough in the low end to possibly not need one for the type of music I listen to, that being no techno, no rap, mostly rock and punk, which can still be pretty demanding on the low end.
  10. Just out of curiosity, do your RF-7's sound like they are a little soft in the midrange?
  11. Being that I will beable to afford RF-7's How many of you would say buy the RF-7's over RF-35's or RF-5's? Dr. Who says the RF-7's 10" woofers can't produce upto 2000hz in which the crossover happens between the horn and the woofer, but not to fully disagree with him, I'm pretty sure a 10" woofer is capable of pretty high range, I've seen many high end and powerful 10" woofers capable of 3000hz, 4000hz, and some even 7000hz, while still being able to produce low frequency accurately. Sorry for all these quesitons, I'm just making sure I'm going to be happy with this setup I'm building. I don't want to buy for example the RF-35's and regret it a few weeks down the road wishing I had gotten the RF-7's
  12. I won't beable to get out to my local Reference series dealer til next week, but coming from you owners, do you think the Referense series horns are harsh sounding? I was talking to Dr Who earlier and I think I've decided on a pair of RF-5's with a HSU VTF-3 subwoofer and Denon receiver for my 2-channel bedroom setup, but reading reviews of the RF-5, RB-75, RB-5, and RF-7 have shown that a lot of people complain the highs are very harsh on these speakers.
  13. Is there such a thing as a reasonably priced yet good performing 2-channel integrated tube amplifier that is a new item, made in 2005 OR.. a place that sells reconditioned and restored amps of good quality for a good price that any of you know of.. Everyone keeps telling me if I get RF-7's I can't fully enjoy music unless with I run them with tubes, but tubes are freaking expensive.
  14. Are the RF-7's very placement sensative like some other towers out there?
  15. Without going to all the local places that sell Reference series, how much on average are RF-7's sold for (each)?
  16. Didn't Best Buy used to sell Klipsch Reference series? I thought they used to but all they have now is ProMedia and Synergy series.
  17. I've been thinking if I really even need a sub for my stereo setup, I've decided to just go with it and get a pair of RB-75's This is the most important thing, I am NOT a bass *****, I don't have quad 12" subs and 4000W of amps in my Jeep for a reason, I could but I don't.
  18. Cambridge Audio Azur 640A integrated amplifier with 65W RMS (8ohms) per channel stereo Klipsch Reference RSX-5 bookshelf speakers SVS PB10-ISD or PB12-ISD subwoofer Would that setup flow well together for a nice bedroom 2.1 system for music listening. I must keep a small footprint for the bookshelf speakers, but the sub size wouldn't matter.

  20. TheEAR, could you recommend me a good sub for around $600 with good music performance, no boomy stuff.
