  1. I just upgraded to a Rotel 1055 and need to sell my Denon 3802. I have the manual and remote. The receiver only powered the rear centers. The box in missing, but I think I still have the styrofoam packing. The 3802 is in mint condition as is the remote. Asking $650 shipped anywhere in the lower 48. The receiver was purchased from Tweeter. This message has been edited by Earle Decker on 09-16-2002 at 06:31 AM
  2. I just replaced my Denon 3802 with a Rotel 1055 and couldnt be happier. I power the rear centers with a Acurus A100x3 amp. The combo rocks, definatly smoother than the 3802, cant explain the difference other than everything seems more focused. Anyone else here using a Rotel receiver or preamp? Earle

  6. I just picked up a a 25-31PCi and couldn't be happier with it. They are on sale now for $499 and worth every penny. Besides if you dont like it(which I doubt) you can return it. Being that your aware of the problems to LF series had, take the plunge and try the SVS, you wont regret it. I also have a pair of SVS 20-39s and the single 25-31PCi nearly matches the pair in output above 25hz. The new driver rocks, so much that I just bought the upgraded drivers for my 39's. Bass nirvana here I come. Heres a link to a used 25-31CS for a great price, get a parts express 250 watt sub amp, on sale now for $119 and you have a slamming sub for minimal $$$. 7. Well, I think I'm gonna go with keeping all speakers set to small and put all three subs up front behind the right front speaker. Now for the next dilema. I like the new driver in the PCi so much, im thinking of replacing the drivers in my original 20-39's. I figure with 3 of the new drivers getting 300 watts each my HT should pound like never before. Of course, If I sell the 20-39's I could get a 16-46PCi and that paired with the 25-31PCi would really pound too. Thoughts... Earle
  8. I just picked up a SVS 25-31PCi for a great price and am trying different ways of integrating it into my HT. My HT consists of Klipsch KG 5.2(mains),4.2(surrounds),2.2v(center),and KSB 3.1(rears). The other subs are a pair of SVS 20-39cs original drivers. I use a Denon 3802 as my receiver and a Acurus A250 amp to power the mains. I also use a old Pioneer 8500 integrated amp to power the surrounds. Center and rear channels are powered by the receiver. I have a Sony CE775 SACD player and an Outlaw ICBM. All speakers are set to small. Denon xover to 80 hz. I currently just split the subout again and went to the 25-31 input. This way sounds good, but I was thinking(I know dangerous thing to do) that if I go from the L/R outs on the 775 and went directly to the Denon's L/R multi channel input, bypassing the ICBM for the mains only, this would open up the ICBM's L/R input/outputs. Now in multi channel music the mains are running full range, and the other speakers are still being run by the ICBM's xovers and the 20-39's are taking the multichannel subout and the redirected bass from the surround and center channels. This is only during CD listening. Then I could split the L/R preouts on the Denon and one of the L/R pairs could go to the Inputs on the ICBM and then to the Acurus. And the other set of L/R preouts could go to the L/R inputs on the 25-31. This way the mains are HP, yet the sub gets a full range signal feed to it. Then I it would just be a matter of blending the subs xover/phase to best mate with the 5.2's. Of coure I would set the mains to large in set up menu on the 3802. All other speakers would be keep at the small setting. Would this induce any odd phase problems or really screw up SACD playback? As yu can see just typing this a confusing so I dont want to so this if there will be a obvious problem. Or should I just split the preouts on the Denon and run a set of RCA's to the subs inputs. Then set the mains to large in the set up menu. Thanks Earle
  9. Im in central CT and have a KG series HT setup. where are you located? Earle
  10. Now if I could just sell the Acurus amp I could finance this project.
  11. Is this possible with a KG 4.2, the speaker has one PR and one driver. Is it as easy as just making a new front plate for the speaker with cutouts in the new positions? Do any changes to the crossover have to be make? Any help would be appreciated. TIA Earle This message has been edited by Earle Decker on 05-25-2002 at 11:47 AM
  12. I have a very clean Acurus A250 amp available for $500 shipped anywhere is the USA or will trade for a Parasound 855 amp. Amp delivers 250 watts/channel at 8ohms I'm listed on the GTL at the HTF, so dont have any worries. The amp will be packaged properly for shipping. Paypal prefered but will accept MO. Let me know Earle
  13. Horned, Colin is amazing, He's month old now and all is well. I found the 5.2's on ebay and noticed that they were 20 min from my house and offered the guy $300 for them. They belong to me know, guy even had the boxes. Still sorking on the 4.2 for a center channel, maybe modify it like yours. Would the 4.2 work well in that arrangement? Thanks Earle Brie is our "little girl" You can only imagine how spoiled she is.
  14. Soundog, I bought the 775 just for its multichannel playback. I was expecting to keep the 775 for multichannel playback and keep the 333 for redbook CD playback. As much as I tried to prefer the sound of the 333, I could not tell the difference between the 2 players during redbook CD playback. So I really dont need 2 cd players so the 333 is getting sold. Multi channel SACD is fantastic, none of that DSP stuff, just music the way is was recorded. I have the Outlaw ICBM paired up with the 775, makes a sweet package for around $400. I use KG 4.2's in the rear along with a pair of 5.2's and a 2.2 up front. The low stuff is handeled by a pair of SVS 20-39's. Now I just have to build up the SACD collection. Earle Deang, I agree hard to believe the lower level playersare hanginhg in there with the ES series SACD players. On another note are you still using the B&K 2220 amp that you got from me? I ended up getting a Acurus A250 soon after selling it. This message has been edited by Earle Decker on 05-21-2002 at 07:34 PM
  15. I just bought a 775 multi channel player and need to get rid of this highly rated player. This is a 2 channel SACD player, NOT MULTI channel. I have the manual and 2 remotes, but not the original box. Dont worry I will pack properly for shipping. Pics are available on my website I still have over 4 years left on the Sony warranty. I purchased this from Tweeter about 6 months ago. Asking $400 or best offer, maybe a trade if the item is right. Let me know. Earle
  16. Its great to see another fan of the KG series. I have 5.2's for my mains and a 2.2v for my center, and 4.2's as surrounds. Check out ebay for the 2.2's, there is usally a pair for sale there. Check out my website for some pictures. Earle
  17. USparc, It's the rack in the 1st pic, forgot to take a new picture to replace the 2nd one. Thanks, for the kind words. Earle
  18. Check out my new equipment rack. I took all afternoon to organize all the wires ant whatnot. Much cleaner look now. Earle My HT This message has been edited by Earle Decker on 05-05-2002 at 09:22 AM
  19. Thanks for the ideas guys. HornEd, That sounds like the easiest and cheapest solution minus the concrete blocks. I'll probably just go witha 12" stand so that they are the same height as the rears. **********Shameless new dad bragging ahead************ Check out my web site to see my new son, Colin. He arrived on last Friday, 1 month early and is doing great. **********End of new dad brag**************** I'll let everyone know how the stands work Thanks again Earle This message has been edited by Earle Decker on 05-03-2002 at 08:42 PM
  20. theryugo000001, im using a Acurus A250 for my 5.2's. 250 watts/ch, sounds great, better than the amps in my Denon 3802 Earle This message has been edited by Earle Decker on 05-01-2002 at 11:25 AM
  21. I just got a pair a mint 5.2's and am using them as my mains and I have moved the 4.2's to surround duties. The problem is that they are kinda low for surrounds. Is it possible to use a pair of stands for the 4.2s to raise them maybe 6-8 inches? Heres some pics to see what I mean. What will the trade offs be sound wise. I am using the Outlaw ICBM for my bass managemnet. The 4.2s are set to 60 hz as a HP Xover. TIA Earle This message has been edited by Earle Decker on 05-01-2002 at 10:50 AM
  22. Montigue, Yep thats me. I moved the 4.2's to the surround speakers. I have a placement isue for a single rear center, a pair is much easier. The 2.2 is back to the center and the KSB 3.1's are the rear centers. The 3.1's are powered by my Denon 3802(set to large). I think I prefer the THX(special setting on the ICBM) 36db/xover on the ICBM in stead if the normal 12db/octave xover. More to come Earle
  23. I just received my Outlaw ICBM tonight and was all set to play when I get offered a pair of mint KG 5.2's in the cherry finish for $300. Well off to the bank, and now I'm home with them. Now I have the "problem" of deciding what to do with my 4.2's. Im gonna start with them as the center and rear center. The front center is powered by a 200 watt Adcom amp, while the rear center is ppowered my the reciever. I am not using the ICBM for the RC. It is set to large. Review to follow, right now I just want to have some fun Later Earle
  24. The pic of the mountains was taken by a buddy of mine in the Himalayas in 2000. Him and my dad went on a trek up to 18,000 feet. He wants to make a website covering his trip. Earle
