  1. RF-5 Klipsch don't stand a chance and If your CF-4's don't have the slam something is wrong either wrong Amp(Not all sound the same) or You have the long baffles which did impede the bass and make it loose but once those are changed watch out. Good Amp's for CF-4's are the Carver TFM series which they don't make anymore but there are still some around or You can use the Sunfire Amp by Mr Carver Himself. The Bryston's sound really good also and so do the Mark Levingston Amps I saw some for a great del just the other day. The better the Amps the better the CF-4's sound .Adcom makes a sweet sounding Amp that is perfect for Horn Speakers they lack the slam of a really good Amy but Adcom is one of the best to hear the highs a ADCOM GFA5500 is righteous on highs with another Amp for Bottom like Sunfire .I traded the Adcom for 2 Carver TFM 55X THX Amps and the sound is like a Tube Amp in Highs but a Monster in bottom End.
  2. CF-4's sound better than any of the others that I have owned and heard i had Lascala's and Belle Klipsch's plus Pro Heresy's. I didn't like the bass at first so Klipsch told me there was a problem with the Baffles so they sent Me some new one's no charge and it tightened up the CF-4's considerably.I have had them since they were new and waited till they released the KV-4 and bought it. CF-4's are the best Klipsch has released but I have not heard the new THX versions so I would guess the crossovers have improved a lot just like the CF-4 's compared to Klipschorn,Cornwalls,Lascala's Belle Klipsch.Klipsch is always Improving the sound with better drivers and crossovers.I bet the Bookshelf one's Image like the dickens.
  3. Erik;Bose sounds ok If you have the right one's.What I don't understand is why they have Nine drivers on one side and two woofers on other side. To me I think they would sound much better if you had two speakers left and right with the Nine Drivers in each and add a Sub for the Lows. A friend bragged How Loud His 901's played and said they were the best I talked Him into bringing them over which He did and fired them Up We sat back and used My Sony DVPS-7000 DVD/CD Player/@ Carver TFM THX Amps bridged mono into My Yamaha RX-V2090 used as a preamp for front speakers and in Unbridged mode other times. They sounded pretty good and he had this SEG on His face so We unplugged His 901's all the time he kept saying Man those Bose speakers are awesome. I hooked up My CF-4 Klipsch Front Speakers and blowed Him away.He couldn't believe how good the Klipsch's sounded. His speakers sounded good but were no match for Mine but Cf-4's cost more and outweighed His so it was not a fair fight. Bose makes some excellent Speakers but they are Pro series .Check them out and I think they should use them for Home Speakers myself. A pair of MB4-BLACK Modular BOSE Bass Loudspeakers with Panaray LT 9702 Loudspeakers or the 802 Series lll Loudspeakers (Professional) They aren't that expensive either and have better drivers and Cabinets.
  4. Forte III Aren't the best klipsch has ever built.I believe for Music the CF-4's I have sound much better.I have the KV-4 also. The CF-4's cost 2500.00,Forte's were a lot cheaper.Their Bookshelf Reference Speakers sound awesome just add a Good Sub and You will have a Killer System. For Home Theatre the THX system they have sounds awesome .My Speakers are getting Old but in excellent shape but kliosch has improved their Crossovers,Horns and Woofers a lot since 1986 when I purchased Mine. I had a pair of forte's they did sound good and still do but the best I don't think so.Their Pro speakers are very good also.I found a pair of Heresy's In Dallas TX back in 80's and bought them and they weighed a ton and sounded very good.I would have hated to have dropped those on my foot. Good think It had a handle on it.I was stupid for ever selling those but I still have My CF-4's and want some bookshelf references for rear channel. No Sub needed those CF-4's will pound you into submission. Check out the THX Ultra2 System for $10,000.00.A lot of Theatres use them. http://www.klipsch.com/products/details/thx-ultra2.aspx
  5. If You can find a center channel speaker like mine ,The KV-4 it matches the CF-4's to the letter.Check out E-Bay or I may be able to be talked out of all three of mine the 2 CF-4's and KV-4 all Immaculate Condition .I got a divorce and have moved into a Apartment for last seven years and I have only once turned them up to 105 db at 1w at 1m.
  6. The KV-4 will match the CF-3's i have a Pair of the CF-4's that I have had since 1995 and i also own the 33 pound sealed box type KV-4. You will be very lucky to find one I don't know how many they made but they are timbre matched.
  7. I have a Pair of the CF4's and they were the first revision i noticed that the bass was a little soft not taut like the other models so i called them and they sent Me another baffle that goes in the front and it made a huge difference in the sound of the Bass. I was also in contact with them about a Center channel Speaker i waited six months till the right one came out and it is the KV-4 which sounds awesome for center it matches the CF4's so well I couldn't believe it.It cost over 500.00 but was worth it.i think it weighs at leat 50 pounds if not more. If You don't have the shorter Baffle ask Klipsch for one and if they don't have it let Me know and I will give You the measurements so You can cut it to proper length .That is If You want to.I guarantee you will hear a difference in the Bass. It has a Horn in middle and a 8 inch on each side. They didn't have a matching Pair for the rear so I bought a Pair of paradygm 9semk3's full range which does a good job.I paired it up with a Yamaha RX-V2090 AC-3 Reciever the very first one and it has Cinema DSP 7 Channel sound I never did buy the extra 2 Speakers because of Divorce but I added Two Carver TFM 55X THX Amps and I still have all of this system with the Carvers in bridged Mono that puts out over 1000 WPC.I lived in the Country and lived in a Octogon House with 7 inch Timbers and five inches of rock plus double tongue and groove Wood Floors and the neighbors over a Mile away could hear it in Winter Time with all the Windows and Doors closed.I kid You not.
