  1. The Lorelei speakers thrive on high current SS amps, a friend of mine has a pair of 3 year old B stock Lorelei speakers from Odyssey Audio, with a pair of Odyssey mono blocks and i have to say they sound wonderful. But, like you I also have a pair of old Forte II. The lorelei is a highly refined german engineered speaker and with the right equipment will totally disappear in your room. I had the Forte II mated with the mono blocks for a while a few years ago but they were to much for the Forte's. I now use an old Fosgate 4100 for the Forte II and they sound amazingly good and accurate. When we Hooked up the Lorelei's to the Fosgate they became quite boring to listen to. If i were you i wouldn't give up on the Lorelei's just yet. If you need to, put them away till you can find a suitable amp to drive them and you won't be disapointed. Head over to Audiocircle forums,in the Odyssey forums and you can read some good stuff there. As far as compairing them, i would say the Forte can hold it's own with their dynamic sound. But with the Lorelei it is darn near impossible to leave the room when listening to your favorite music. If i had to decide between the two i would choose the Forte system because of the low cost factor and i'm used to the classic Klipsch sound.
  2. You will find a pair with a little patience, It took me about 3 months to find a pair a couple years ago. good luck
  3. I thought i would chime in here, i have a pair of 1989 Forte II speakers and did the cap and resistor upgrade about 3 months ago. I went the budget route and used them new 1% Dayton poly caps and mills resistors from parts express. It took me about 4 hours to swap out the parts, it is fairly time consuming so building them from scratch i would think is more labor intense. Anyway, right out of the gate the forte's sounded bright but as the hours have rolled by they have come to life. The sonic signature of the speaker is unchanged but the focus and soundstage is much improved. It is a very noticeable improvement and i now wonder how much better the K-stack or Deans upgrade that i inquired about earlier this year would be over what i did. At any rate, whatever you decide to go with you will be happy. If i had to do it over again, i would go with highend caps or if money permitted the all out replacement units from the members here.

  5. I'm looking to upgrade a pair of Forte II's, what is the cost for your networks popbumper if i my ask Gary
  6. Thank you, i'm finding more info here everytime i visit. Very nice forum for Klipsch owners
  7. Hello, I'm new here and looking for some info if possible, i've recently purchased a pair of used Forte II loudspeakers. These are actually my third pair of Klipschhorn speakers, i owned a pair of cornwalls in the early 80's and upgraded to the La Scala's(around 85) and owned them until i moved into a smaller house in the late 90's. I've been through JBL,Spendor and a few other loudspeakers sense then and none of them sounded right to me. I guess it took me a while(way to long) to figure out that i was missing that classic Klipsch sound. Anyway, the Forte's are in excellent condition and sound wonderful at low and medium volume. But when i crank it up the horns are in my face so to speak, i've been tweaking there positioning and doing some room treatments(12'x14') the last few weeks that have helped and i'm wondering if tweaking the crossover networks with some hi grade caps would help. They are being powered by a pair of Odyssey extreme mono blocks and a tube preamp, cabling is ZuCable Crux XLR. CD player is a Denon DCM-560 using Crux rca's and a home made pair of speaker cables from a design from Jon Risch. From what i have read here briefly, it sounds like the cap upgade can smooth out the upper end of these speakers. I really want to keep these speakers and looking forward to any and all reply's and sugestions. Thanks Gary
