  1. I have an LK85 Linn power amp as my backup I am using until I get done deep cleaning my NOS Valves VRD. The speaker wire connectors are very odd for my Linn. I am very careful not to lose them.

It is definitely European sounding and has a favorite spl with my Chorus II.

At low volumes the bass is timid.

At high volumes the highs are shrill.

I was always underwhelmed with any Carver I heard.

I had a Marantz 2225 forty years ago I should have kept. The Marantz you have seems hefty and free of digital jitter by design.

The Marantz has a preamp output you could use with the Linn.

Carver, Sony and Niles are uninspiring to me.

    Best wishes in your investigation.

If you read through that entire thread, it appears that Roy meant it can be used on the FORTE II, not the Chorus II.

It may work on the Chorus II, but it's weighted less (per Roy) and will change the tuning...  For better or for worse is up to your ears.

Odd that Klipsch left this driver unsupported. You can by parts for speakers from the 1970s and 1980s. I understand the business end but I come from the auto industry where they make serious profit margins on replacement parts. Just a bit dismayed the first time I called Klipsch parts in 45 years of ownership and the service person tried selling me a woofer because he had no idea what a passive radiator was.

Right now, I have 2 pairs that are totally stock, and have never felt a need to change anything about them. I am only using one pair and haven't listened to the others for a few years. That's why I am telling you to bring a truck when you come here to pick up your KP362, 301, 465, and whatever will fit.

Oh we do collect more than we can play.

I just counted six tuners as I started to develop my new addition recreation room... listening room tube and Chorus II system last month.

Threw away three MSB and Channel Islands DACs that were twenty years old.

Klipsch will sell you a 15” Forte iii / iv passive.  Buy a pair and see how they sound.  Can always tune them lower by adding weight (washers work) to the back

    What does adding washers entail?

    Taping them on the cone?

Don't you have a damaged one for practice? It's been a minute or 20 years since I repaired a cone. several people have posted about how they went about it. I hate to admit it, but I was in a similar situation and, to use as a get-by, I made a ~ 15" plywood plate and ported it 4" dia. Desperate times called for desperate actions. 😬

    I understand. Hang tough.

I like that hack for the plywood. I can do that and send them out to be reconed.

I should have bought extra 15 years ago and put them in my basement storage.🤔

    So......recone it:)

I run a 32 acre mini farm at 63 years old.

Lots of Bobcat, tractor and truck maintenance among other things to keep up on.

I have not reconed a woofer since 1983.

I would even by a damaged KD 16 to practice on. Fine motor skills are a bit compromised by arthritis.

    🤣🤣🤣😉😎

  7. After owning these for 20 years during a recent move one passive radiator is damaged. 8 inch long tear through the cone and fabric surround.

Called Klipsch parts. They no longer support the KD16. Young gentleman in parts recommended Simply Speakers and Speaker Works but it appears neither sell a replacement. The only sell the recone kit.

    eBay has none for sale.

Thank you for your input on other options.

Well, Klipsch. Here's your (second?) big chance to add an excellent, highly respected high-end audio amplifier company with a compatible & desirable product line to your portfolio.

IMO Klipsch probably should have bought Mark Levenson, or McIntosh years ago when the opportunity arose. But since Klipsch is now owned by Voxx Internaltional (formerly AudioVox, the cheap car stereo company) this probably won't happen.

But, IMHO, ARC would make a great match with Klipsch, and also an opportunity to maybe introduce some more affordable vacuum tube products into the mix.

    "Just sayin"

ARC and Heritage have always sounded exceptional.

    My  SP14 preamp I used with VRD and H H Scott 208.

    Belles

    Chorus II

  9. Apologies I have sold nothing in over ten years. I like my stuff.

My first degree was from Michigan State University in Packaging Engineering.

Amp will be double boxed and floated in whatever media you prefer. I start with double buble wrap. Tubes will be individually wrapped and shipped in a separate box. I recently had a friend buy a high end TT that was shipped with the platter installed and subsequently destroyed in transit.

    Carrier and packaging is negotiable.

I research intensively. I respect a potential buyers research.

  10. I thought my adult kids or son in laws would get interested in vintage. They prefer soundbar and subwoofer.

I have vintage equipment in storage that I purchased and maintained over the past 10-20 years that I need to take out of the inventory and liquidate to simplify retirement.

The 208 was rebuilt by NOS Vales around 2004 and last serviced before I used VRD as my primary tube amp in 2012.

All Scott 208 amplifiers are pulled from consoles. They are all ugly.

With the crazy inflation I have no clear idea on equipment values. I will supply pictures if there is interest and consider a trade for a H H Scott 130 or LC21 stereo preamp.

    $ 850 including shipping.

  11. 1977 or so.

Buying a pair of Heresy HIP for an acoustic band I was doing sound for.

Demo as some pro audio store in Ann Arbor Michigan.

    Klipsch MCM

    Crown amps

    TASCAM mixer

Open reel deck of some sort.

    1812 Overture

I was not much into classical music at 17 but I was floored.

Klipsch sound to me is like sitting with your legs dangling over the lip of the orchestra pit.

Dome tweeter speakers are like sitting in the last row of the balcony.

  12. A buyer beware for Tidal.

After 1.5 years with Tidal I got a message from Blu OS on Android phone I needed to update my billing information on January 7 2022 for Tidal.

I did the process as requested and am now being billed twice a month.

    Tidal has NO PHONE NUMBER.

For two weeks all I get is an automated reply to my e mail and no resolution. Filed a dispute with AMEX today.

NAD M32 and Blu OS seem like a good synergy to my ears. No CDs or LP clutter in the living room pleases my wife of 39 years.

I knew the ownership of Tidal was questionable folks but the phone number thing is extremely unprofessional.

OK.  He and Walker are works in progress.

    Take care of your head.

Poor performance on assists, FT shooting percent and of course turnovers.

    Rebounding OK.

Bingham had a good game in only about 20 minutes I recall.

  14. I use lead filled Sanus stands with my RB-5 in the garage. I used them years ago before the Chorus II and the Belle as my mains with a 12 inch sealed front firing sub.

Spend a little money on stands. Not the tippy wooden ones.

I replaced the bi wire plates with speaker wire.

I am a plastics engineer. The grill pins were not designed by me. A few different design tweaks would have made them more robust.

****** them up if you find a pair!

  15. I can use the Bluetooth just fine.

I bought a WIFI dongle to go in the USB port but cannot find any instructions to get it to link to the Klipsch app I installed on my tablet.

I use Spotify with Bluetooth but would like to use Tidal by WIFI like I use with my NAD M32 with the Belles in my main room.

The Three II is in the sun room.
