  1. $400. for a nice pair would be fair...............never know what you'll find out there........Pick them up yourself...don't ship......Nice speakers the Heresy line...............

OB's right about not shipping; While the owner of the UPS store here is a long time personal friend, has always done an outstanding job for me to this point (and we insure everything), once something leaves his store, he has no control.... If you are interested, I will be leaving here (south Florida) for LR Arkansas on 27 December and can always take the I-10 route... Otherwise it's about a 16-18 hour trip from NOLA.

MD, it's about 8 1/2 hours to Little Rock from Picayune, MS. We made the trip twice this year. Once to Hope, AR for the Pilgramage and to Hope again to pick up the Cornwall III's we won at the Pilgramage. We went onto to Little Rock for one night from Hope, so 8 1/2 hours is about right. It is a nice trip and can be easily made in two days.

The factory is in Hope, AR which right off I-30 on the way to Little Rock.

The Crater of Diamonds State Park is on the way. Who knows maybe you would get lucky and find a big diamond on your trip.

Crystal Springs is really beautiful also, maybe you can spend the night there.

Or check with some other forum members, maybe someone from AR will be heading this way around the same time.

BTW, I have heard the Grooms Lake Area is unbelievable.

We can always take I-10 and detour through MS, and if MD is interested, leave them with Dtel? 26/27th is for family reasons, carved in stone, and 18 hours from NOLA to Okeechobee is not worth it; fuel alone would cost MD almost what it would cost for the speakers. It'd be about 1800-1900 mile round trip.

Dtel's wife: I hope the "unbelieveable" part of what you've heard about Lake Okeechobee is good! Great bass fishing and only 30 miles from the beaches off Fort Pierce!

I guess this post really shows how stressed I am about our triple wedding plans for December 9.

Okay, I was thinking Greer's Ferry Lake in Arkansas. Sorry about that one.

However, I have head a lot of good things about Lake Okeechobee. Mainly about the fishing. A good friend of ours from N. Louisiana used to go fishing there a couple of times a year and he loved it.

As far as the Heresys go, we will be happy to hold them or meet MD somewhere to drop them off. If he wants them all he has to do is let us know.

  3. Come on I have been very patiently waiting for the answer[;)] WHAT is the problem?[*-)]

Dtel posted on the first page of this thread that the people on this forum were smarter than the people on the other forum?[*-)]

  4. I have three of the speakers mentioned here and have done a lot of comparison side by side on them. I may be one of the few here that feels that way, but I would pick the Heresy above the Forte and would pick the Chorus ahead of the Heresy. Bob Crites

Bob, did your comparisons include Forte or Forte II's. I find the Forte II's a little more clear sounding than the Fortes. We have listened to both, the Fortes and Forte II's with and without a sub woofer. Since the Forte II's are currently dedicated to 6.0 home theatre (primarily dvd concert videos) we have chosen to incorporate the sub woofer.

I was impressed with the Heresy III's especially because of the sound quality. IMO, the Heresys would be best suited for smaller listening/watching rooms, unless of course you have several pairs to incorporate.

  5. I'm listening to some remastered Stones right now and can hear backup vocals and grittiness on the Mellotron that I"ve never heard before. Even at low volumes, these dig deep and remain crystal clear up top. I especially love the Tractrix mid horns, which seem so open and not 'honky' or metallic like the CW's get sometimes. Townsend's Give Blood with Gilmour on chunky guitar is playing now. The bass just rocks with these speakers and I cannot believe the vocal clarity. Great voicing for the layered guitars....

    More to follow.

    Michael

I could not believe what I just read. Not from a "REAL CW MAN." Now you know what dtel and I have been trying to explain, but couldn't find the right words...I am so glad you like them...

  6. Unfortunately, yes. Even one is too many for me.[:(] The other day I sat on a bench in the garden at my customer's house to take a short break. I looked over to my right and there was a baby water moccasin (sp) curled up in a plant. The d_mn thing was about 12 inches from my leg.[:(]

I've heard........now don't quote me on this......that there some people that do probing with snakes. And many of these people are FEMALES!

    Seriously.

    I'm not joking.

    I really did hear this.

    Tom

I know you said "don't quote me on this"...however, I have never heard of that. I could interpret the "probing" several different ways, but...none of the interpretations seem appealing to me.[*-)]

We did on at least two occasions see an unexplained "ball of light" outside our home. One of these times at least four people witnessed this "light". The "ball of light" was about 12" across, moved fairly quickly and at the lowest point was about 4-6 feet off the ground. And no, before any of you imply or ask, we weren't in an "intoxicated" state of being.

In our previous home, there were numerous encounters with "spirit(s)". The home was approximately 100 years old and was solely owned by a family from "Uptown New Orleans". We leased the house for almost five years before purchasing the six acres and building our home here.

Prior to our living in that home dtel and his father did not believe in "ghosts or spirits". Maybe dtel will share his personal "encounter" with you. Very often, visitors to our home would have "experiences" with these "spirit(s).

The experiences with the spirit(s) began before we even moved into that old house....Previous tenants believed there were also "poltergeists" present when they inhabited the house...they even had the house "exorcised". But this maybe for another thread...I don't think these were alien "spirit(s)....

  7. Had crazy day yesterday...

'Caught, pulled out, etc" SIX babies. From six new moms, no twinlets or anything...

    Long day...

    Paul

Come on Paul, everyone knows the "doctor" walks in to the labor room at the last minute, catches the baby, congratulates the parent's and leaves.[;)]

But...I met you and somehow I just don't think you are "that kind of doctor".[H]

  8. Hypothetically speaking this is an HT store, correct.

First, I would concentrate on the upper income market. There are enough BB's out there already.

If retail space were not a problem I would set up at least three HT display rooms, each equipped with a number of different audio/visual systems. The "style" of these rooms could be updated quarterly or semi annual. (Home theater rooms/systems are generally not an impulse buy.) This would offer a "fresh look" to the return client.

I would make certain that every employee realized the impact women have on the decision making process with purchases for an HT. It is most aggravating to walk into an audio store and have the employees totally ignore me and speak to my husband. i.e. don't assume I am ignorant or insignificant in your sales process. It will do you no good to spend two hours with a man, if his significant other has a say in the purchase. Try to have both decision makers present as often as possible.

Have a basic "contract for services". The "contract" isn't officially binding, but is a way, if authored properly to get the client committed to your store. This could actually be more like "IndyKlipschFan's Pledge to Mr. and Mrs. John Doe". In any event, a plain English paper that you offer and hopefully you and the client sign your pledge as a way to solidify a "working relationship".

No high pressure. Explain everything, if there is something you do not know, tell the client you will get an answer asap. Then do so. This is another way of initiating follow up contact without being pushy.

Being able to visualize is just as important as being able to sell. You have to see what the client sees ....in their head. (I have found this invaluable when making landscaping sales calls)

Everyone has a picture of what they want in their head, if you are selling HT you have to see what they see. Offer to make an initial house call (if applicable), just to make sure all measurements are correct. Another face to face contact.

I have more, but that's enough for now.

  9. Thanks to all of you guys that "started and stayed" with the forum. You made it a better place for all of us.

I honestly do not think I have ever known a group of people that touched our lives as much as you folks on the forum do.

It is truly a pleasure to "talk" with you guys on a regular basis.

    BTW, thanks for the laughs.[;)]

  10. Hey Michael, have you spoken to another attorney? I just can't believe there isn't something that can be done. Whatever happened with the title insurance company?

BTW, we missed you this weekend around here, are you okay?

Another thing, don't lose faith, because you never know what God has planned. Through our faith we can see miracles.

  11. Happy Birthday to ME!

now if we could just find me a gf, ok how abot somebody for the night?

    Michael

Michael I am still working on this one for you. [;)]

BTW, I am glad the balloons arrived at the right time. We were hoping the balloons would let you know how much you are thought of.

Do you have anything new to report on your house?

  12. Thanks guys for the comments! It looks like either the Heresy I or Heresy II, one can't go wrong.

Please let us know how you do in your quest for the Heresys.

BTW, welcome to the forum. I apologize for the late welcome but I have been rather busy the past couple of months and haven't been able to keep up with the forum(other than dtel filling me in here and there.

    Good luck.

  13. That's funny Maxg.

" How many people are related to dtel?

The last number I saw for those living in the dtel compound meant they had enough to elect their own Senator. "

Well we tried that 1/3 dem, 1/3 rep, 1/3 could care less, It was a tie and once again nothing got done !

Well I guess it really is like the government.[:o]

Now, that is funny. Come to think of it, it is kind of like the government.[;)]

  14. DTL's Wife:

"The Hereseys offer a lot of bang for the buck. "

I totally agree. We have been listening to Heresies more than the Klipschorns for music-only listening. I'm going to try either some acoustic foam or poly-fill on the inside back and side panels, which should have the effect of increasing the overall internal volume......

    Whatever, that's another issue.

Great speaker for the money, for sure.

    Erik

Of all the speakers we auditioned while in Hope, the Hereseys surprised me the most. I did not expect the quality of sound that came from those speakers.

I couldn't agree more...I might even go so far and claim that the new H3's are the best voiced of all the new heritage (even though I'd rather have.the Cornwall 3 - man you guys are so lucky). They really got that synergy thing down just right; getting such a huge sound outta such a small speaker.

I love the Cornwall III's but I think my next Klipsch purchase will be a pair of Hereseys and preferably the H3. I can not get over the quality of sound from those H3s. Even at new prices the H3s are a good deal.

And yes, Mike we are very "fortunate", I call it "blessed". Dtel calls it "lucky." We were blindsided when dtel's name was called.

I guess the odds were a little in our favor, since both of our names were in the hat.[;)]

  15. I am thankful all of our family survived Hurricane Katrina. I am thankful we are fortunate enough to share our home with those who no longer have a home.

    BTW, congratulations Marvel.

Dee, I know you couldn't be happier about you and your wife being under the same roof, it has been a long time.
