  1. all components except the k-33 woofers are as from Bob Crites. the k-33's that are in them are in excellent condition.
  2. jweber, I still intend to take you up on your offer to visit and look at that collection you have. wanna trade one set of those Belles for my Cornscalas by the way
  3. FYI i did the felt around the tweeters with the intent of reducing early reflections and the half covers. I love to see those big horns all the time.
  4. Other componemts are the Selenium drivers that Bob uses in the C's and Bobs crossovers. These are really terrific speakers that I could be happy with for a long time. I just chose to buy some Khorns that i have always wanted and go that direction. Love the bass from the Korn and I have a good space for them. I'm hopeful that someone here can buy these and enjoy them as much as I have.
  5. Selling my C's after buying khorns. these have k-33 bass drivers in them. great condition and great sound. asking $1,000 from any forum member. I am located around the Watertown ny area.
  6. I spent a 7 hours listening to these Cornscalas last evening/night and I could not happier with them. My modded LaScalas gave me goosbumps sometimes on certain material but these things are giving me one big goosebump. I just love the whole balance of them...just totally immersive and convincing....very exciting. Bass balance is excellent to me and mid-bass/ lower mid resonance issues I had with my laScalas is pleasantly missing. Midrange is to die for as are highs, I dont want to sound like a a fawning new owner here but I cant help it....they are that good IMHO. Bob Crites has designed an exceptional Klipsch based speaker here and should be very proud. They sound easy, big and accurate, releasing top notch sound into my room effortlessly...imaging and the sense of "in the room" performance is the best I have ever heard. I'll stop cause im sounding like my objectivity is gone...maybe it is...but my ears are happy for sure. Thanks to bizzle2525 for...I wish you were selling these for different reasons...life is all ups and downs...great effort and perspective will overcome all brother! It was great meeting you and you are a pleasure to do buisiness with.
  7. yeah...those friggin yankees should just focus on playing good ball never mind the homeowners association stuff....leave that for the red sox to deal with....IMHO....no offense taken by the way....
  8. i will add if bashing someone new for not posting sale item "properly" is not hurting the "spirit of the community" i dont know what is...and this thread of posts is indeed "putting some members at odds" because it attacks a fellow member...... can ya dig it man....its just music and fun!...figure out a guys intent before shoving rules and criticism at them.
  9. Preston Tom and Dean G are you guys serious......this kid is a newer member who loves gear and you are treating him like crap...so what if he references his ebay listings here....he's trying to offer them to the community is all....go to the auctions and do the homework....pull the sticks out and relax...some here feel like this is some sacred special club or something i think. Give advise, offer suggestions....treat each other with dignity no matter how many posts you have. I met this guy today and he's a good level headed kid with a nice family and loves horn loudspeakers....lighten up. By the way dealing with him on purchase of his Cornscalas was one of the best purchasing experiences I have had with any individual....Dean G if you want to know if an item is sold try asking if its still available....some people cant live on here every day....sorry if i offended anyone here but young blood in our hobby should be encouraged.
  10. just bought these from bizzle2525.....meeting him on Cortland for pickup tomorrow....cant wait to hear them....sold my LaScalas to a nice gentleman in Albany area a while ago. I cold not tame the midbass resonances in my room with the LaScalas....I am hoping for better results with bass and mid bass smoothness.....Guess i'll see soon enough.
  11. I am selling my LaScalas. they have beefed up cabinets and have been refinished in oak veneer. fastrac horns, ALK universals and Ctites tweeters. late 70's model with consecutive numbers, They are listed in Syracuse, ny craigslist under electronics if you want to have a look. asking $1400 and cannot ship....they are extremely heavy.
  12. I added 4" legs to the bottoms of mine, I liked the results. I feel it cleaned up the overall sound of my LaScalas and removed some muddiness in the bass/mid bass probably from floor reflection/interactions. I dont feel I lost low end at all but I have done alot of work to strengthen my cabinets that improved bass quality greatly to me. I can run these without any subwoofer and be satisfied with bass output. Just try simple 4" blocks of some kind on each corner and see what you think.
  13. oops assumed you had fastracs....sorry....let those horns stick right out there man...LaScalas are already nonWAF compliant anyways.
  14. I'm excited to get the fastracs, even more so after your comments KanedaK. I will definitely post after hearing them....thanks
  15. The front brace looks much better in person but that type of thing is always subjective. I was suprised at tha amount of movement remaining at the front edge even after bulking up sides....(sides are now 1 5/8" thick). Thats why the brace was added, I think there is just a ton of energy at that point in the cabinet. I can say that that snare hits and drum tones as well as bass guitar notes are very realistic and "tight" after these changes in my opinion...enough so to make me smile and get a little giddy from time to time while listening...they just sound so realistic. I thought these were great speakers when I brought them thru the door but I just enjoy tinkering and the quest alot I suppose, and getting that last .010 out of an already great design. I have fastrac horns on order...after that I doubt I will do anything more to these...I do have a set of klf20's to molest next as a project, but I can't imagine ever taking the lascalas out of my listening room.
  16. ...one more....our cat....he loves the blues and i consult him on all mods...he has terrific hearing.
  17. another pic..sorry pics are awful...make everything look grungy...although the dust on a/v stand in there its not as heavy as it looks [*-)]
  18. through some further investigation/modifications I feel I have reduced resonance in my bins almost completely. The first step was installing a moulding into the back inside corners of the bin to smooth the 90 degree corner there. I then got bold and coated from the back to where the horn begins to flare with a textured bed liner...installed 2 dowel rods center front to back per side for bracing and coated tham as well. The liner I used was a low odor type I found at Autozone...wife attacked can after I left it sitting somewhere for a half hour so I cant find it right now to get info. When she comes home I'll pay the ransome and get it back...I hope. I also coated the inside of the woofer box with this. Finally I made a brace for the front of the bin out of red oak that sits on the outside for the most part...just recessed in 1/4" to lock onto bin...then a small piece to connect to tip of horn for rigidity. My reasonings for all this are that I believe standing waves develop within ths bin and I wanted to reduce this, and also deaden the plywood. I made effort to keep any braces as low bulk and out of the way as possible as not to change tuning of bin. I also think that shelf type bracing creates another reflective surface within the bin when used. I had reservations coating with bedliner because I have read the paint/finish within a horn should be gloss...but I have heard a very positive effect from these changes, an the liner I used was not that heavy bodied as most,,,it has I believe sand and rubber particles suspended in it....and I only used it on that part of the horn that is straight. Bass/midbass still has same quality but more controlled and even tighter to my ears...I love these speakers.
  19. I also think damping behind the diaphragms is an improvement and have done that with my fortes with stock phenolic mids. All drivers in my 20's are stock so if your port experiment works out for me I'll move forward and change diaphragms...guess I shoulda kept those ti's, but I glad to hear your enjoying them. I am in the process of working over some LaScalas now and am very excited about them, but always need to have the next project planned. Thanks Moray and best of luck.
