  1. Ditto, Get the best center you can afford. Well worth the investment.
  2. Dbossa is right on in my opinion. Carpet made a huge difference in my room. Absolute night and day. I will have to search the forum for DrWho's analysis, as I cannot figure how a carpet could NOT affect a room's acoustics, regardless of thickness. I do not claim any sort of knowledge on this matter, but there was a giant difference in my case, and my carpet is probably less than 4 inches thick (if not less).
  3. Oh!! And the RS-7s do diffuse the sound a bit more, making surround material a bit more realistic than a direct radiating speaker like the RB-75. A high consideration if you are using a system almost exclusively for home theater.
  4. Actually, to be honest, my system started out with the RB-75's as my mains, RC-7 as center. I bid on a set of RB-75's on ebay because I did not think $620.00 would win (then it did...much to my surprise). Upgraditis and a good deal recently made me get the RF-7's to put as my mains. All in all, I had no idea my system would end up the way it is now (my REAL start was with an RC-25 hooked up to Yamaha HTIB speakers....two years later I have a system even better than I could have dreamed). To answer though, even if I did have a choice, I probably still would have stuck with the RB-75's because I think they will maintain their value better and as Arky mentioned, they are better for whatever multichannel audio tunes you might be encountered with. I also move around quite a bit while I listen to music, thus I like the option of 6 channel stereo. Another reason I did not opt for the RS is because speaker stands are more appealing to me than having the speakers in the wall in an old brownstone, and the RS-7 would never get 2 feet over my head like the RB-75's do on stands.
  5. If you can pull it off, I would go with the RF-7's. You are right, the RC-7's are not much of a savings and the RB-75's are just plain nonexistent almost anywhere right now. If you can give them some room and you dont mind the real estate, the RF-7's would be the best match in my opinion.....
  6. Except that the RF-7's are rear ported......and they are huge, another consideration.
  7. RB-75's. The RB-35 cherry will NOT match your RF-7s or RC-7. That cherry is too light. If you want front ported and matching, I think your only option is the RB-75's, unless another manufacturer has a model or the new RB-81's are made with a matching cherry.........
  8. Jay, since you moved, any pics of the RF-83's in their positions now? I know it is an old topic, but hey, why not?
  9. Gotta love those copper woofers.......
  10. I, personally, would upgrade the subwoofer to an RSW 12 or something like that. Or save it to get a pair of RF-83's or save it and get an rt-12d eventually. Plenty of options if you ask me.....
  11. El, I doubt I will get another pair. I live in a brownstone and getting those things up two flights of steep, narrow staircases was an experience I will never repeat. Besides, I think the Rb-75's are more than capable as surrounds and rears. TDK, Actually, before I bought mine I e mailed the Klipsch store about cherry RF-7's, but Amy said that they only had the maple available. Maybe in a few months some cherry ones will turn up. It is funny bceause my RF-7's have a serial number that starts with -07, so maybe Klipsch has a lot of extra RF-7's hanging aoround after all...........
  12. Yeah, I JUST switched the signature line! I was immersed in the sonic nirvana that are my new towers. Wholly crap was I missing something, even with my RB-75's. These towers simply rock, no question. Jay: I got them new in the box on ebay (wwstereo). They sold them for less than $1200.00 and I simply could not refuse. If only j and r had them still! Anyway, these babies matched my RC-7 perfectly so I decided to just stick with that reference series than switch to the RF-83's (it hleps that I got those -7's for about $400.00 less than Myron coulda swung for the -83's too [])
  13. Actaully, I literally just got a pair of RF-7's from this dealer not even four hours ago. I will say this: other than Klipsch, this retailer is THE company to buy RF-7's from. They packaged the speakers very well and even UPS could not screw up my lovely babies. Shipping was only $140.00 to me. Anyway, this is just to say wwstereo is legit. Vince, who runs the internet sales portion, is friendly and courteous, with no bullshit whatsoever.
  14. Update: After much internal debate, I have pulled the trigger on a pair of RF-7's in cherry. Saved a buttload of money on them versus the RF-83's after all. El Lopez, and all of you, thanks for the advice. As of tommorrow my home theater will TRULY be -7 series throughout. Too bad my audio fetish surpasses my video, as I was looking originally at updating the old 27" CRT TV (DAMN YOU KLIPSCH!!) I think I will watch one of the Lord of The Rings movies to start the break in tommorrow night []
  15. This thread is pretty old, but if you are looking for RF-7's, make a best offer to wwstereo on e-bay. I JUST put in an order for mine and got them for $1050.00 plus about $140.00 in shipping. They will ship out the same day too. 100% A-stock, new in the box. Nice guys as far as business is concerned too. Once they show up I will let you know how the RF-7's faired UPS.
  16. Indeed.....look for "theEAR." He has significanlty more speakers than anyone could EVER hope to listen to and he lives in an apartment in Canada. Nuts would be a bit of an understatement.........
  17. Interesting.....especially given A). I hear that same fatigue (or should I say brightness) from my RC-7 but NOT my RB-75's and . Trey Cannon confirmed a while back that the tweeter in the RB-75's was attenuated to accomodate the single 8" woofer versus the RC-7 and RF-7 using two low frequency transducers. The lesson? Everyone has different ears!! Thanks El for your observations..........................
