  1. Hey El, I try to preach the good word LOL. Hey, how do you like your RF-7's? I think I will be getting a pair shortly. Do you find them brighter than the RB-75's? My system is very close to being complete......RB-75's for surrounds and rears and the RF-7 and RC-7 up front. Heaven simply does not get better....[8-|][<)]
  2. EAR, Why bother? You have the sub of all subs next to that stack in the JL Audio F113. Why not give a fellow Klipsch member a sub at a good deal to free up some space in your apt for the next latest and greatest sub?
  3. Falcon, I was just kidding. Believe me, after seeing what goes on in the two channel forum, I REFUSE to get into arguments with any forum member over speakers. Also, you are 100% correct: generally as you get more expensive, you just get better in quality with the Klipsch line. It is all a matter of taste, budget and approval from the ministers of finances (wife) that really determine our individual choices, but all in all Klipsch rocks no matter what you own....
  4. Are you running a carpet in your room? That made a huge difference for me as far as Klipsch speakers were concerned. I am betting that the problem lies with either your source components or your room more than the RC-64, which as BobG mentioned should be particulalry better at reducing sibilance than the RC-7.
  5. Hey!! I LOVE my RB-75's and I think they were and continue to be one of the biggest sleepers of the reference line of all time! [:^)][] [] But I would never say they are RF-7's or RF-83's, though with a really good sub, we could talk indeed.......sorry, I have to take pride in my apparently insanely rare (at least these days) choice from the reference set up.........
  6. I RESPECTFULLY disagree. I would say the RF-83's are going to smoke the F-3's in almost any condition, even regardless of most amps (though a parasound amp is no slouch LOL). Admittedly, I do not own the RF-83's I only auditioned them, but my hypothesis comes from owning reference stuff like the RC-25 and the RB-35's and then jumping to the -7 lineup with the same receiver I have now (which outputs like 75 watts a channel). There is a WORLD of difference between the Rb-35's and the RB-75's (plus the RC-7), enough to justify the upgrade even if I could go back. I would say most people (though not all) would be able to spot the difference between the two sets of speakers pretty easily (okay, I can anyway). I am sure there are Heritage folks who would say the same about reference stuff. Though amps can certainly make a big difference in sound, I think the jump from the F-3 to the RF-83 in the long run is the better choice if you have the budget for them, especially for the most noticable difference in your system. This, by the way, does NOT mean the F-3 is a bad speaker by any stretch of the imagination, it is more a testament to how good the RF-83's really are. Does that count as flaming? Maybe it does, but I hope not..........
  7. Personally, I would not bother upgrading a receiver until HDMI 1.3 is fully integrated so I can enjoy Dolby True HD and the DTS equivalent. It might be a while, granted, but it would save you not upgrading AGAIN in the not so far future.
  8. Speakers first in my opinion. The RF-83's will SMOKE the F-3 in every respect. My RB-75's are only eight feet apart and I am more than happy with my setup. It may not be the same for you, but experimenting is where it is all about for placement. Move those F-3's to the back, get the RC-64 and wait on your next amp. That is what I would do.
  9. Hey Bob, I know you work for Klipsch, but I was curious exaclty what you do there, just out of curiosity. I second Bob''s opinion. Those RB-81's are more like upgraded RB-35's rather than an upgrade from the 7 series.
  10. Wow Jet, that was a quick upgrade.......congrats....the bug hit you in a bad way I see......let us know how the heritage line compares........
  11. Anothr satisfied customer!! Glad to hear the RF-83's are as amazing to you as they could be....Those monsters truly rock!
  12. Bee, There is such a thing as too small a room for too big a speaker, but it realy depends on a lot of things. Examples: If the towers are too close to the back walls, sometimes they can sound boomy, or if they are too close to each other, the soundstage could be compromised. Then again, Jay on here has the RF-83's in a dorm room, and he loves them to death, so it all depends. The RF-7 and RF-83 comparison is really more a matter of taste than one actually being better than the other.I highly doubt that Klipsch would have replaced the RF-7 with an inferior product. There is no doubt that each speaker sounds a little different, but I certainly would not venture to say that the RF-7's would blow away the RF-83's. I know there are a few on the forum that have experienced both, hopefully they will jump in to give you their opinions......
  13. Bee, As everyone here has already said, spend more on the speakers, less on the reciever. The new HD formats will slowly take over, and in the next few years every reciever and preamp will have HDMI version 1.3, which is the only way to hear Dolby True-HD and DTS True HD. Hardly any (if there even are any) recievers right now have this connection, so it looks like many of us will be upgrading our electronics in the next few years once those audio streams really take off (unless something else comes along that makes even those specs obsolete). Anyway, electronics in audio are way more disposable and replacable than the anchors of your system, your speakers.
  14. I hear excellent reviews of the Emotiva line of pre pros. Give them a shot too. You will not be disappointed from what I hear. I will let you know once I get them for for my Rb-75's
  15. RC-64 does indeed rock, though I cannot speak about comparing it to a Heresey with Cornwalls. Tough decision. All I can say is that the -64 improves on the RC-7 (which I own and LOVE), so I can tell you only that the RC-64 will not be a decision you have buyers remorse about later if it anchors your RF towers.
  16. Tai, did your problem ever get solved?? I am curious what was wrong with your speaker......
  17. Why not go RF-7 for the surrounds as well?? I will tell you from experience with an RB-75 set up for front and surrounds: nothing beats the same speaker everywhere in that set up. My RB-35 rears stick out quite a bit to my ears, as does the RC-7 (though much less so). If you are a fan of music in DLP II or Neo:6, the same speaker all around is killer. If you are only using this for movies and dont want to dedicate the real estate to RF-7's, I would stick with the RS-7 or RB-75 for surrounds and the same for the rears, though some movie fans still swear by the ultimate timbre match approach.
  18. The question, though, is if either format will take off for good versus DVD. It is perfectly possible that both formats fail the way SACD and DVD-Audio did, but since DVD sales have slowed in recent years, maybe one of the new formats will pick up the slack.....
  19. Hey guys, hope life is treating you well: After much thought, I decided that although I wanted to go with the RF-83's for a while, I am better suited by buying a new HDTV for my home theater instead. I plan on going with a 50 inch Rear Projection TV (unless someone has some advice on going flat panel), but I have one problem: My RC-7 at 9 inches in height makes finding a stand for my TV very difficult. Anyone have any suggestions as far as TV stands?? Any pictures of what you are using with your TV? As much as I would love to DIY it, it is not really an option. Anyway, just wanted to hear your thoughts!
  20. Also, try audiogon.com Sometimes they have a pair. Those speakers are a tough find these days, even on ebay, but they do pop up every now and then (sometimes surprisingly cheap or surprisingly expensive!). Keep searching, I am sure you will find them eventually.
  21. If you plan on listening to movies for most of the time, I would go with the THX Ultra system, especially with those two subs. The RF-83's definitley rock, but the THX system was designed with movies specifically in mind. I think if Klipsh really felt that the RF-83 system could take the place of the THX system, they would have stopped making the THX system with the -83's introduction. Just my 2 cents.........
  22. Merry Christmas everyone! We are kind of like one, big, Klipsch audio crazy family anyway!
  23. Yeah, I guess I should have explained my thought process when i said that, LOL. I am always looking on ebay for Klipsch stuff, and I noticed that there are a lot of overpriced speakers like the RF-7's that keep getting re listed (I once saw a pair of RB 75's for like $950.00 PLUS $100.00 shipping; all of this AFTER Klipsch discontinued the model). I figure that this guy doesnt realize how high he is asking for the total purchase, especially given he metnions flaws AND does not have the original box. You are right, no negotiating (aside from that "best offer" thing I see popping up these days), but an e mail to the seller at a lower price if no one bites on his auction could never hurt. I got a few steps ahead of myself Ha Ha.....
  24. Hey guys, http://cgi.ebay.com/Klipsch-RB-75-Speakers-in-Cherry-finish_W0QQitemZ220063346364QQihZ012QQcategoryZ14980QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem The guy is asking $500.00 plus $100.00 shipping. The speakers look like they are in descent condition, but given that he mentioned a few flaws and they will not be shipped in original boxes, I bet someone could could reduce that price by at least $100.00 and walk away with a great set of speakers. These babies are a RARE find online these days for whatever reason. Just thought you would like to know!
  25. TheEAR, I am surprised you didnt just say "Upgrade your subwoofer!!" LOL.
