  1. Interesting TDK, I am glad to have an opinion on the RF-7's versus the RB-75's from an owner of the two pairs of speakers. I know this wasnt my direct question, but it is certainly related: Were the speakers placed in the exact same position? My RB-75's are deadened with sand in the pillars of my speakr stands, which I think helped in terms of imaging. The sound never comes directly from my RB's; it sounds like the performers are just THERE. Then again, my stands with shot in them weigh close to 50 lbs by themselves. But again, I have NOT heard the RF-7's, so I cannot make an accuarte comparison the way you seemed to do. The thing is, the RF-7s in cherry are being sold on ebay at roughly the same price (or higher in some cases) than what my dealer will sell me RF-83's for, so that is why I asked. But Thanks for the advice!! Maybe I will start looking for RF-7s after all----besides, it would be nice to macth the 1.75" tweeter all around Jay, YOU BETCHA!!! Did I tell you that Myron lives two doors down from me now?!?!?! Ha Ha Ha!!! Life is too ironic!!
  2. Hey guys, I own two pairs of the Rb-75's for front and side duty and a pair of RB-35's for my rears. I am interested in possibly purchasing the RF-83's to (almost) complete my speaker purchasing for this lifetime (Both me and my wallet can only pray this statement is true). I was going to buy another pair of cherry Rb-75's, but they seemed to have disappeared from ebay and audiogon. Anyway, so the RF-83's seem like a great floorstander. Any thoughts on how they would sound with the RB-75's? I ask this because I already own the RC-7 and can definitley tell the difference between it and the RB-75s (which to me sound better). The purchase wont be until maybe February or March, but I figured I would get some insight from you guys. I know my subwoofage is the weakest link in my system, but the thought of floorstanders in my house is just calling me........................
  3. Really depends on your budget. I have found that Velodyne makes wondeful subs once you are willing to spend some money. As the owner of a Velodyne sub that retailed for roughly 500 bucks in its day, I can tell you I was not impressed. The discountinued CHT series was loud, but not very clear in the subsonic region. Their DD Series rock, but you are talking spending thousands on a subwoofer. With that said, I think Klipsch makes great subs, starting with the Sub-12, the RW-10 and 12D and any of the RSW/RT series of subs. Just for clarification, which RC and RF series do you own and what is your budget? Also what is te room size? If theEAR gets on this, I am sure he can offer some first hand advice outside of Klipsch as well, seeing as he owns more subs than most audio stores have on hand Anyway, just my 2 Cents...................
  4. LOL. Dr. Who, are you trying to get our friend injured???
  5. Hey Dakayus, You may be in luck. Check this link out. I am always searching for RB-75's because I want to complete my 7.1 setup, but I cannot afford them right now. Here is your chance. http://cls.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?spkrmoni&1167411477
  6. The RB-81's do not compare to the RB-75's however. The RB-81's were replacements for the RB-35's, not the -75's. If you are looking for the -75's you are going to have to look for them specifically or stick with a downgrade in the -81's. Klipsch decided not to make a comparable bookshelf to the -75's in the reference series IV (Unlike the RF-7's being rplaced by the RF-83's).
  7. Wow, This forum went way off topic. LOL. TheEAR, while I respect your audio knowledge, you have to admit that throwing around how much you are able to spend on audio on a forum with diverse members may raise some eyebrows as far as etiquette is concerned. There should be no reason for you to feel the need to defend yourself if you are confident in your choices. I have to ask you though, so you run everything in your apt at once or do you have a dedicated speaker/sub switcher that permits quick speaker/sub changes? Just curious for my own knowledge......
  8. Yes. The RSW series is tighter than the RW series, specially as a result of their passive radiators versus the ported RW series. Get teh RSW 10, you will enjoy it more for music AND movies in my opinion.
  9. The RC-7 is def a good match with the RB-75's, but one of the Klipsch employees on this forum said the RC-64 was an even more seamless match. I dont know, it is a good toss up. I like the RC-7 with the RB-75's, but I do notice a very slight difference that the RC-64 might be able to alleviate. BUT, the RC-7 would probably be a lot cheaper than an RC-64 and you probably wouldnt miss much.
  10. Awesome! Raga, tell me how it is...I almost jumped on that deal but didnt want to hear it from my starving bank account. Daryl, keep it up! Deals on Klipsch are def appreciated!
  11. Unfortunately, no I cannot. As I said, I liked Original Monster Cable better. I just wanted to throw this out there. If you are interested, let me know......
  12. Hi guys, I have for sale several pairs of Monster MCX1s and MCX2s speaker cable. I bought them thinking that my RB-75's would match well with them, but alas I like regular monster cable a little better. I would like a check or money order if interested. I will include four angled spades and four banana plugs with the first two pairs of cable, the rest would be all spades. These plugs retail for 12.50 for four (25.00 to complete two cables) but are included in the prices here. Shipping will be an extra 7.00. MCX1s: $40.00 a pair in original packaging (I have two pairs, one factory sealed, one barely used) MCX2s: $60.00 a pair in original packaging (I have two pairs, both barely used) My e-bay feedback under the same name is 100% and I am SURE you will be satisfied. The user lucasd2002 has aslo purchased an rc-25 from me and is happy with his purchase. Any questions, please let me know. I will post pics here shortly.
  13. I would agree. I have mentioned that if I didnt buy reference stuff, I would be more than happy with the synergy line. I might be jumping out on a limb, but why are you defending the synergy line in the first place? Are you just feeling that the speakers you own are slighted in this forum? I like the synergies, and would have bought them if they were sold at an outlet other than Best Buy in Manhattan. As it is, I ended up buying top of the line reference stuff. I think Best Buy is more interested in the bottom line than giving people an opportunity to listen to fantastic audio. Case in point, the synergy series shows little in the category of potential when they are set up next to other speakers, and for nearfield listening as all of the best buys in the city demonstrate (with one exception: the one on 23rd street has a full demo that at least hints at the synergy series whoppin some serious audio ***). And the subs are ALWAYS turned up too loudly at Best Buys, but many people think that the great bass defines quality audio. This is yet another example of the "bose-ification" of audio sales. I give much respect to you Bismarck, you work in a store disliked by many who appreciate audio (justifiably so, in my opinion), but with folks like you attempting to spread the informed word working there, maybe Best Buy will have a chance someday at being true to the audio world instead of focusing only on media and TV's.
  14. RC-64, no question. You could possibly regret the RC-62 purchase in the future and end up buying an RC-64 to match the RF-83's, so why buy two center channels when you can just buy one? Also, if the RC-62 and -64 difference is similar to the RC-35 and RC-7 difference, than I wouldn't even think of the RC-62. The RC-35 was not even in the same league as the RC-7 and you noticed it immediately when driving other speakers like the RF-7's or RB-75's. Since the center channel is really important for movies, stick with the RC-64 if only so you do not end up feeling upgradeitis in the future.
  15. Have you tried to lower the center channel volume on the RC-7? That might work too. I have found that my RC-7 stands out more in my RB-75 set up if the volumes are all equal on my yamaha reciever, so I have decreased it to -1 instead of 0. Also, that harshness you speak of in the arcam, does it occur with your RF-35's too?
  16. It has been a whle since people have posted, but Trey, can I also have a folder? Thanks!
  17. SUCCESS!! Thanks. These are the 24" Apollo A3 speaker stands and they go for about 148.00. They are sand fillable with adjustable spikes. As you can tell, my RB-75's are quite comfortable on them [][]
  18. ugh...it seems hopeless. If anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it!!!
  19. One other thing: Blu Tak or Plasti-Tac is the best way to fasten speakers to stands. It is a puddy-like substance that will not mar speakers' finishes. It is STRONG too. I have two sand-filled stands attached to my RB-75's and you can literally pick the -75's up by their tweeter area and the stands will not come undone. It is quite the miracle material. My other pair of RB-75s are attached by Blu-Tak too. I highly recommend it.
  20. huummm.....it seeems to not be posting.....can anyone see my pic?
  21. Apollo A3 speaker stands look great. They come with adjustable spikes and are $148.00 shipped from home decor. The sand-blasted finish for the black color is VERY nice looking. Apollo also has A2 stands (2 pillars) and A4 stands (with four pillars). All of the pillars are sand fillable. I highly recommend tham as I have four RB-75's supported by them! http://www.dynamichomedecor.com/go/dhd/prod/code/Apollo-A3.html Here is a pic of two of my RB-75's with the stands:
  22. An awful day. I was actually in India studying abroad when it happened. Many people left the program I was in to be with their families. I wanted to stay (we were eventually called back). 9/11 still makes me think about how awful some people can be, both within and outside the United States. I hope one day that problems of political and cultural differences will be solved more peacefully, or at the very least without the involvement of innocent people. My thoughts and prayers go out to those who lost their lives.
