  1. I didn't even get threw the conversation when all I herd was no we don't need more speakers in the family room.

You can always tell her that you aren't adding speakers just replacing them, the Academy for a Corn.... [6]

Oh yea about the glass tops I was thinking this idea when my new to move in roommate moves in(he works for a glass company its all free) So soon they will be protected.

Great to hear. A little investment for a lot of protection and to get them for free, even better...

So what was the first movie that you watched with the Corn fronts?

  2. Considering they only weigh about 7lbs each, it wasn't too difficult.

That is the best part, something simple and easy just made your room that much better,,, [H]

Because of the extreme height, I made sure they were aiming down directly at the primary seating position.I had to deal with what the roomg gave me. My little piece of modest HT heaven.....LOL

Thats great that you were able to angle them down. Looks great, a lot of people don't have the perfect room but it's really nice to see the ways people get what they want out of the room.

  3. Definitely...even if you think no one will ever put anything on them. I had someone set a can of compressed air they were using on one of my Quartets and it etched a ring in the veneer. :(

Man, sorry to hear. I have glass tops on my RF-83's, two pairs of Corns and one pair of Heresy. A great investment for the protection that they have.

The body has been well hidden.

I hope the gators liked their snack... [:P]

  4. To me the memo sounded like they never really intended to release the 997,

To me it seems like they were having problems from the start with having it configured to their specs. They should have given up on it a long time ago and started on a new design with someone else, like they are doing now. It really nice to know that the 998 isn't going to be based off another companies platform and be an Outlaw design...

be 2014 before we actually see anything.

This will be fun to watch, when it will really come out...

  5. If your getting a good discount then I would just go with the RC-62 and adjust it in your receiver. Does the receiver have a calibration function? I would start with that and adjust to your liking. Remember, there are recommended levels but if it doesn't sound good to you then your not happy. Getting the speakers is only the beginning of the fun, setting them up and figuring proper placement is the on going effort.

Just remember, as long as it sounds good to you then it's good.

  6. Welcome to the forum...

Well if you have the WF-35 then the WC-24 is the correct center to have a perfect timber match across the front. The total WF-35 setup is shown here.

I see that you are mixing the Klipsch series of speakers, thats fine for the rear speakers but you want to keep the speakers from the same line for the front three. You will get seamless sounds as the action goes across those speakers.

Now you can get whichever center you want but you will have to adjust it and it still might not sound perfect, plus it will save you some money to go with the WC-24.

Just a question, why not stick with the WC-24 as the center and jump up to the reference line for the rest of the speakers except the mains? Are you planning on upgrading to the reference line for mains also?

  7. Happy Birthday Mr. PWK!!!! [<:o)] [^] [<:o)] [G] [<:o)]

I never got the chance to meet him in person but his creations continue to give my gf and I hours of listening enjoyment and that will last for many years to come.

Thank you for the love and passion that you put into your ideals to make them a reality for me to enjoy.

    James

BTW, was there a favorite song that he liked to play? Would be cool to get and be able to shear with everyone to play on his birthday.

  8. Welcome to the forum.

If the H/K has all the inputs that you need then I would go with that. With a receiver you are correct about getting an all in one unit. How much are you looking to spend? If you do go with a pre-amp then you have to fit the amps into your budget also. The receiver route is good since you can add an external amp when you can and the receiver will handle all the switch and decoding, the same thing the pre-amp does.

I think that's what you were asking....

  9. Sounds like a lot of outlets but like you said, better to have too many then not enough.

I know what you mean about too much into one outlet. I had all my equipment one a light switch outlet that was also wired to other outlets in the room and an adjacent room. Last year I ran romex for a new outlet, I flush mounted the outlet with the floor behind the tv. This outlet is the only thing on a 20 amp circuit, so now I don't have any issues. I also ran romex for another room that has a window air conditioner, in the warmer months, and my computer to another 20 amp circuit. This second one was needed as the only outlet nearby was also on the same circuit with two other rooms, in the warmer months with the air conditioner it would trip the circuit. So in all this past summer was great with just adding those two lines.

I want to look into sliding shelves but right now, might make do with building something more simple

You still can build it yourself, take a look at Home Depot or like stores, they have those diy kits that come with just the pieces you need to make the shelves slide. You can use whatever wood that you were thinking of and get those kits to add the track and wheels to make the shelves slide out. Just make sure of the proper weight for the equipment and the wood being supported by that track system.

    James

  10. Since that is that case, closing off the other side that the equipment is on, then I would go with facing the equipment into the room. It would be a lot easier to walk into the room and turn everything on then walk around the corner to do the same thing.

Now with the talk about making an access door, I would defiantly do it. Even if the shelves are on pull out tracks I would still like to be able to get back there to check wires and change things around. My current setup is in an audio rack and I love how I can sit next to it and have access to all the inputs at once.

  11. A not very politically correct bar staffed by little people. You couldn't get away with that in the U.S.

Actually there is/was a place in the Chicago area that was like this. My cousins told me about it, they went a few times, but every time they invited me I was already going somewhere else.

    James

  12. In the "picture hiding" scenario. Have you thought about a way to exhaust the heat from your rack yet?

(I do plan on putting a duct into my garage so I can have a small fan ducting air in or out of this closet area)

He mentioned this in his last message near the end.

    James

  13. Richard,

Personally I like the first ideal, because you would be able to get behind the equipment better from the area on the side wall.

Are you planning on closing that side wall off with a door of some sort?

Is the rest of that space under the stairs going to used as storage or just empty?

Cause my thinking is if you decide to put the equipment face the side, the last picture, you would have to walk further into that space to get to any of the wires to change or fix anything.

If your wife wants to cover the equipment she still can, if you want it, and like you said you can control it still using a switch by the door.

Might add that I'm going to have four 20amp circuits with a mixture of switched and unswitched outlets

    WOW....... [:o]

I like to see the total room when you get finished and what you end up with in there...

  14. Is this fair to say

Yes that would be fair to say.

I don't have a lot of listening time with either LaScala's or K-Horns but time that I have listened to them it was with that type of music. Now those setups with a nice sub can do wonders for the low end, then again your getting away from just the speakers themselves.

    James

  15. For the most part I guess if you love the heritage sound you probably dont like the reference sound..Two different kinds of klipsch listeners...

I just use them for what they were designed to do. I currently have a RF-83 system for all TV usage and 3 different Heritage systems for music only. Now I have heard Roger's all LaScala HT so I know that Heritage speakers can do HT but for me they're not intended to so I just let them do what they do best. Just my opinion.

  16. Russ, So are you saying to look for clean originals of all those?

I only have experience with the originals on vinyl. I have no input for current releases. I did however buy a redone CD and it was a mess. The album had songs inserted on every other track and the mix was messed up. For a Hendrix beginner, you have to get the standard versions first. Thanx, Russ

I have to agree with Russ on this

Hendrix is probably my all time favorite since I first heard Are You Experienced when it first came out

Start at the begining so you will know where he came from and where he went from there

    just my .02 cents

    Jim

    Russ and Jim,

Thanks for your help and which albums to get first. I am looking at getting a few albums to start with but when I go to listen to them I will make sure that I do so in order.

    Thanks,

    James

  17. Valleys of Neptune comes out march 9.I have a few songs on it.Sounds like it was well produced and enginerred by Eddie Kramer Jimi's original engineer

Yes I seen that it has on some song that have never been released before. One of the reasons that I started looking, and the reissue of the others ones on the same date. I figured since I already wanted to pick a few up this would be a great time to do so.

I will send you list of some Hendrix vinyl i have for sale if you want.

John, that would be great. I will send you a pm with my email address.
