  1. Anybody got a pair of black Heresey grills they want to sell or swap for a pair of cane grills?
  2. Bump... Surely some of you Klipsch experts out there know what this speaker is...
  3. I demo'd the Denon and a Yamaha 2600. Both souded great, but I got the 2600 because it not only switches via HDMI but also up-converts from lower inputs. I have been happy with it so far in both movie applications and stereo listening. I have not heard the Marantz... Good luck, I am sure either will be great. By the way, I paid about $650 for my Yamaha. It was factory reconditioned, but you could not tell it by looking...
  4. If you like Sonys, check out their SXRD line. Much sharper than the LCDs without the rainbow effect of the DLPs and they are 1080p...
  5. I was at a local Audio store the other day and they had a used speaker that looked exactly like an Academy but was a different model number, one I have not heard of before. It was from one of Klipsch's first THX certified systems and the first two letters were HT. Anyway, just wondering if anyone knew anything about it or had heard if it was about like an Academy or totally different. Thanks for any help you can give....
  6. Because of the way DLP's work, they do tend to have a "rainbow" effect during scenes with a lot of motion. I have heard of people who are sensitive to motion sickness being effected by this. Try watching a scene with little to no motion in it and see if it still bothers you. If it does, you might have to swap it for something like the Sony SXRD which is not a DLP and does not have that issue... Good luck...
  7. Well, not sure what you guys think these things sell for. You can get a new HK7300 for about $950 off Amazon and I picked up a factory refurbished Yamaha 2600 for $670. I dont think you can get seperates for that kind of money with any quality. Anyway, thanks a bunch for the suggestions. I went with the Yamaha. I will let you know how it turns out...
  8. While I am here, maybe I could get an opinion on a new HT receiver. I am trying to decide between a HK 7300 and a Yamaha 2600. Both are 7.1, both up-convert the video signal. The Yamaha has HDMI and the HK doesn't. I imagine the HK will sound a bit better, but not really sure how much. I have never owned HK. I have had Denon, Onkyo and Yamaha before. Speakers are Heritage and Classic mixed (CW Fronts, Heresy Center, Forte Surrounds) Any thoughts or anyone who has heard or seen both? Thanks.
  9. Bump.... Surely some of you guys have tried Klipsch in-wall speakers for the rears in a 7.1 set-up....
  10. Wish I could, but just no room. I have the system elevated about a foot on a stage and I only have an 8' ceiling. Not enough room for a CW above the big screen. A Heresy will barely fit and look decent....
  11. Got a question for you HT gurus out there. I have a decent sounding 5.1 and I am moving up to a 7.1 system. I have CW's in the front, a Heresy in the center and Forte's as the surround speakers. I have one extra Heresy. I need rear speakers. How well do you think one of the good in-wall rear speakers would work in my set-up. I could go with a couple of R5800's or R5650's. I just don't know how important the rears are in a 7.1 system. I could buy a couple more Heresy's I guess, but the in-wall's would look so much better. Any thoughts? Thanks for your help...
  12. Thanks for the input. I will wait and see what they look like then decide. I guess if they are near mint they will last me the rest of my life so even $3,500 or so isn't too bad. Thanks again guys...
  13. Hey, new to the forum. Bought my first set of Klipsch speakers in 1980 (Heresy's of course) then a pair of Forte's in the late 80's. I have always wanted K Horns... I was in a local shop today and found out one of their customers wants to sell his 3 year old, mint condition K-horns for about $3,800. I almost never see them for sale and was wondering if that was a good price. I have no idea. I am supposed to audition them this weekend... Just some general guidance would be great if you have any. Thanks.
