Currently listening to 1st Wave on Sirius. Cooked abrisket for 6 hours on the grill. It came out amazing!

Well the problem is solved I guess. I'm currently at +1.5db on the center channel and things are fine. It's mostly just certain movies. Lord of the Rings- Return of the King in particular. I did fine tune the subwoofer and it made a difference. Go figure.

Where do the 35's fall in the RB pecking order? It seems I recall them being well regarded.

OP, I'm not trying to hijack your thread and I'm glad you have the sound your looking for, I'm trying to learn IB a little here and thought I'd share with ya.

You know, it's mostly all the dam whispering in some movies. A lot of times I'm being conservative on the volume not to disturb others and it will go from normal conversation to very low romamtic talking or sentimental I'm about to die situations.

I just double checked and the boost is actually 3db. Still pretty high I think. I'm gonna check the onkyo I think I remember seeing something about dialog.
My 5.1 are all in ceiling speakers. This may also have something to do with it.

IB would be ideal, but understand the bleed through to other rooms.
No more than any other sub.
So, IB wouldn't produce more attic bass than a sealed enclosure?

I may experiment with a horn in the future but for now my wife would kill me if I went back in the attic. I am pleased with the way this turned out. I don't have to change settings for movies, music or TV. I can feel earthquake type scenes in movies and jazz bass is spot on.

For movies I am boosting my center channel 4db. Is this typical for most HT setups? The dialog is too low when set flat. It could be older ears I guess as all five speakers are identical. Who else has to boost their center channel?

Oh yeah, that's another issue. I couldn't cut any more holes anywhere. Wifes orders.

There were a few issues with going IB. I needed to keep the bass down throughout the rest of the house for normal music listening and regular TV. The subwoofer was already built and is pretty badass. I didn't need to buy anything.
The improvement is amazing! The Sonance ceiling speakers actually sound good. Much improved with a BAS. Music is very nice especially jazz and acoustic. Lord of the Rings Return of the King giant elephant scene is incredible. I give myself a high five.
It's strange but all of the whispering scenes are much easier to understand. I don't know why.
